This is the craziest thing to me. People have been crying “I want a global shutter’. Now that they get it “I don’t like the image quality’.
love your comparison, I’m still on the fence between the a1 and a9iii. I really want a minimal of 30fps and prefer the 50mp size image. Shooting 60 and 120 fps just blows my mind. I’m holding out to see what how Sony improves the a1 with firmware.

For videography is the best, but for photography with that 250 iso 😳. And 24.6 MP idk maybe a pass...

Yeah you'd think they'd be happy about the global shutter wouldn't you?😋

@@MRG_1 2000 iso for video, thats sounds like the base iso for super 35.

For shooting like landscape the min ISO of 250 is a downside but I don't think it's an issue at all for the intended audience. Sports/action photographers will spend most of their time in the mid to higher ISO settings. I think 24 MP is also a good compromise as well, for folks that want low ISO high res shooting there is always the A7RV. 😃

I agree, sometimes it seems that people are never happy... we have such capable tools these days that people forget that some compromise is still necessary.
My work benefits more from resolution than it does speed so I would never trade the A1 for the A9III however I believe the A9III may be useful for me as well... after more testing we shall see.

We are seeing some great things with this new camera! It's good to see that we don't have a huge difference in image quality with the global shutter.

Yes! One day we will see higher res cameras with this sensor tech, perhaps a future "A1III" 😃

Good comparison, thanks! Definitely interested in how well composite raw will work, too bad it is not in camera.

I plan to check combine some of the images in the Sony software and report back soon. 😃

I appreciate your image quality comparisons! I would be interested in seeing your thoughts and also comparing compressed raw files as well, specifically to see how highlight recovery compares to other sports oriented Sony cameras like the a1. I use compressed raw to be able to achieve the 30fps on the a1.

You are right highlight recovery would be something interesting to check out too, I will add that to the list 😃

Thank, Jeremy, your first impressions are very helpful. I was actually surprised at how similar the image quality was in both comparisons. But then again I rarely ever shoot above 6400. For me, I am not looking for an all-in-one camera. That would be the A1. I have an A7R5 and had an A1. There was a lot of overlap between those two given that I shoot a lot of landscape and a fair bit of action sports (soccer) and am beginning to shoot wildlife. I much preferred the ergonomics of the A7R5 but must admit that I like the speed of the A1. In fact, it got to the point where the A1 because too frustrating. I sold it about 3 months ago. Tomorrow I will receive my A93. For me, the A93 is a better compliment to the A7R5. Also, for how I will use it the A93 is easily "good enough" in megapixels and image quality and has better speed and ergonomics than the A1. It also introduces things like pre-capture which will be awesome for me when trying to get a picture of a soccer player heading the ball and such situations. I am also hearing/seeing now reports of the A9R3 having faster autofocus than the A1. Not that the A1 was a slouch, but which out the following video. Duncan Groenwald has swapped out his A1 for an A93 and over the past week or so has done a fair bit of birds in flight shooting with very small birds. This video is one of 3 or 4 that he has posted. He has also posted a lot of still images on the Fred Miranda Sony forum. They are amazing. I share this because I believe this sort of shooting is more in line with what the A93 is intended for. It was not designed as an A1 replacement or an all-in-one. Though Duncan has done just that. ruclips.net/video/0MjX6B_bH58/видео.html

Nice! I will check out this video! I used to shoot with the A1 and A7RIV, when the A1 came out I decided that for me a second A1 made a lot more sense than the A7RV.

I want to see how flash works with this camera. Particularly hot shoe flas rather than studio flashes.

    • @JeremySmithPhotography
      @JeremySmithPhotography  5 месяцев назад +1

Sounds like a great idea! While I mostly do off camera flash work I have some Profoto, Sony, and Godox flashes that I can try. 😉

@@JeremySmithPhotography That sounds great. I have Sony, Godox and Metz flashes with a 2 different radio controllers that I put on the hot shoe which can control either the Godox or the Sony/Metz flashes.
