Great tip!! Just remember to re-start Serato if it's open while you do it, otherwise it won't work. I used it to connect my dj controller to another soundcard (Scarlett Solo) with my Yamaha HS8 monitors
Just tried this with a ddj-sx2 and it worked! however, i noticed that if you want to go back to listening on your speakers you dont need to delete the aggregate device created on the macbook, just uncheck the Built in Output checkbox . I tested this works by putting the cue button on and i could hear the track on my headphones, dont have a speaker to check but it should work based on this.
There is an option in serato dj lite in the settings “cog icon” top right corner in the Audio section to use laptop speakers, just needs to be ticked on and close settings, music plays through laptop speakers and can also connect external speakers using 3.5mm audio cable and plays through those too. Headphones plugged directly into controller still work fine.
Great workaround only a few issues..1. If ur using an older Macbook Pro, Audio Midi is in Utilities not just Applications and 2. to enable & disable the feature you have to restart the computer. Also no headphone support, but it does give u audio from the laptop speakers. I'm doing a mobile live stream from outdoors so I need to plug in a small pill type speaker into the headphone jack of the MBP. Thanks for the tip!
Should mention that this workaround only enables 2-channel output which kills the monitor/headphones output on the Dj Controller. This feels like a halfway solution. The best is to use Serato Play with a y-split cable or to used Serato competitors: VDJ, Rekordbox even Traktor. By the way CrossDj by MixVibes and Djay by Algoriddim also has this feature build-in as well. I've always wonder why Serato has to make things that complicated.
Good lord! Thanks bro! I’ve been trying everything to get my Hercules to play through the speakers of my MacBook Air! This worked perfect! After the initial try I still wasn’t getting sound so closed the serato app and reopened it and VOILA! I have sound! Thanks again bcuz I would’ve never figured this out! 🙏🏾
Can I have sound coming out of the computer speaker and controller at the same time I am thinking about for live streaming. It would be nice to have the sound coming out of the speakers so I can hear and then plug in a cable to phone for recording
No sound comes out of the headphones I plug into the controller when I'm trying to beat match. I have to just do it from the soundwave, is there any solution to this?
Same here. It seems that if you use the iMac speakers you disable the audio card in the DDJ-SB3, therefore, you can not hear the head sets to listen to songs.
For windows I ran a RCA to 3.5mm cable from the back of the controller to my pc's headset port and used the software that came with my pc to use the headset port as a mic in. Works like a charm except for ground loop hum (used a ground loop isolator to fix this issue). Good luck.
Mine is still not working. Im using macbook pro 15 inch. I did all the process and it didnt work at all.. can you please help me about this situation. Thank youu in advance
This help alot, though I need your help,my controller is connected to macbook air,the output is ok,but the external microphone is not connecting, kindly help me out
This works as described but what he doesn't mention is that there is no way to cue on headphones. So mixing is a trial and error affair using the visual map in serato. Unless I'm mistaken 🤪
Hi! very useful life hack! but I have a problem, can not configure on ddj sr, MacBook pro 13 " 2018, mac os high Sierra... can you tell if your ddj sr is working?
This could be due to a grounding issue on your computer - do you have the same issue if you unplug the power from your computer (if a laptop), or if you use the DDJ at a different location? Pioneer send me this message because i have a Pioneer DDJ SR and i can't scratch when i touch the jog but i can when i touch the computer (Macbook Pro) or a part of the controller. How can i fix this please?
Hey this question goes out to anyone who can help me, Ive just gotten some Pioneer SB3's and I have a 2019 mac, I have an adapter connected, and the controller is powered, but when I go to use serato my controller doesn't work. Ive tried installing new drivers but it says that the controller isn't connected when I go to install them. I tried doing what was done in this video but my MIDI interface is different. Cheers to anyone who can help me, I've tried everything.
it does not work with me!! urrrhhg starting to hate the software for this, I always sit 2h struggling to get sound, sometimes it just randomly works. tf is this bs
THANK YOU! THIS IS EXTREMELY USEFUL! Do you know if in this working setup with the sound going through my laptop speakers I can somehow connect a JBL via Bluetooth and have this sound going out through them? Is something like that possible? Thanks
I’m currently in the hunt for this. I can get this function out of every dj app I can find out however serato is VERY proprietary. Great find dj holland on ur Mac OS findings! I have been usually going into my app volume or advance sound options for windows on other DJ apps and changing the default devices and forcing it through whichever parameter I want. But for some reason serato isn’t allowing it for this guy. Weird though.. because when I’m troubleshooting and using a rca to just check for sound from other speaker sources everything runs through my audiobox usb and only when I have a rca from controller to the audiobox does the audiobox register any input coming from the actual computers hardware rather than the controllers hardware itself,
@@rjrjr1 I got it to work! You have to make sure Serato is closed before doing any of these steps. Then open Serato after and it should work (at least it did for me). But the headphones will not work FYI and I don't think there's a workaround for that.
@@Crossfader i just bought a brand new macbook running on ios11 and I determined that serato wasn’t compatible with that version yet for sound for some reason.
How to output audio to Windows: ruclips.net/video/-UTMLSEAeio/видео.html RCA out of controller into 3.5mm line in port in pc Open sound control panel --> Recording tab Locate device, Enable device Open device properties, click Listen to this device Choose which device you want to playback through
This is a stupid idea, not sure about mac but if you do it on a PC there will be a fraction of a second delay and every mix with sound like a train wreck, I mean come on dude the computer has to process input and then the output straight away causing a slight delay it's common sense.
I brought I brand new I7 because i thought it was my old laptop and it still did it!!! Brought external speakers and they work fine. Not sure may of been the cheap controller maybe. Thanks for the reply anywayz!!!

Awesome thanks. Took a little bit of messing about but managed to make this work through bluetooth speakers too.
How did you get it to work through bluetooth speakers? Struggling here to even make it work with comp internal speakers

@imnelsn 📸 Same!!
I don't see the option that says 'built-in output'. Mine shows mac speakers, mac microphones, and the controller. Which sshould i select?
Is there a way to give output to multiple Airpods? Basically, host a silent party? Would be a game changer.
I try it on my MacBook Air & it says MacBook Air speakers not audio output, & only 1 side of my SX3 is working
did you ever figure it out ??
Is there a way to do this with windows? Would be super helpful, as rokits are like £250.
Great delivery.

same has anyone got a solution
Try clicking DDJ-SB3 audio out, and built-in output in your aggregate device settings. I think that’s what fixed it
Hey bro when I add a new device in midi, I don't get the Built-In output option, any guidance?
Nope still no sound out of laptop - ugh
same here and nothing on what to do about it if that doesnt work anywhere

Mayra Hartmann close the serato app and reopen it after you add the the controller as an aggregate device per the video. Worked for me.
Shelly Bailey I did that still no sound I don’t know what else to do at this point. I deleted the device and restarted the whole cpu still nothing
Try restarting your program. If you program was already running when you made the changes, it might not have the updated settings.
Thanks. But I only hear audio only from deck 1. None of the others are pushing audio. Trying to practice my craft. On MacBook Pro and DDJ-1000SRT
