    Thank you for your insight. I have one that I recently acquired from a family member. Preparing to incorporate into my modest shack.

    I also have this radio, it's my favorite out of the 7 radios i own, i had a compression board installed in it, very crisp and clean audio even with the stock mic.

      They are possibly the easiest 10 meter radio to find around here. I own two 2510 radios now. The compresion board is a great addition for sure. Thanks for dropping by my channel and leaving a comment. Merry Christmas!

      I have been subscribed to you for some time my friend. Congratulations on the radio find. These radios are good performers but the thin circuit boards didn't hold up well for mobile use. That is just my experience. A reflow and touchup of the circuit board usually rectifies many issues. I have worked on three that just needed solder replow and touchup. If it is in new shape, you have a keeper for sure. Thanks for the subcription.

      I hope I can but in the course of finding a good SW radio I may have to let this or something else in my collection go. I have a strong desire to get back into SWl so it is gonna be bitter sweet.

    I have a 2950 re engineered by the actual man who engineered the radio for Ranger. His name was Bill Good...unfortunately he is not with us anymore. I met him in Ontario California....actually met mr. Ping through him ( the owner of the Ranger radio corp.)....anyways what I wanted to tell you is the 2950 is the first in the line of radios of that family....but the best. The DX series that followed was not an improved version....rather a version that was almost as good but much cheaper to manufacture.....straight from Bill Himself.

    • @Tobinindustrial
      @Tobinindustrial  8 лет назад

      +Hubcap _ Interesting information. It is not surprising that they would look at ways of making cheaper radios and enhance profit margins. Too bad for the DX owners though.They probably paid the same price as the original.

      If you post a picture of the internal circuit board....I will show you a capacitor you can easily obtain and change which will make your transmission audio more like an late night FM dj on a good stereo....one of Bill's secret awesome mods

      Hubcap, will the mod work on a 2950DX? I just started using one. If I send a picture to you of the board, can you mark it and send it back? Hope my spelling is correct LOL

      Thank you sir for your comment and the share. I am sure there are better, more exciting videos out there with much more good technical information, but this is where I am at in my RUclips channel. I am into a variety of things and i like to share that, however unimportant it may be, with everyone on RUclips. All the best Fred... and thanks again.

      Andy Tobin LOL. You may change your mind. My next one in a few days will be Aprils Vlog. This includes rats wrecking my summer house and some radio action on the president 11 trying to call across London.

      HEHEHE. I'll accept the good with the not so good but the jury is still out on the upcoming video. A humble existence in the RUclips environment is more than acceptable Fred. I saw nothing but high quality videos from you so far in my humble opinion ;)

    I had the 2970 of this radio the one with the amplifier. May I say this is an excellent radio for sideband it's okay for a.m. but it's really made for sideband use and this radio and my 2510
    are the two best radios that I've ever owned I used to run the galaxies but they never were near the quality and performance that these radios are.

    Are these radios good in a big rig?

    • @Tobinindustrial
      @Tobinindustrial  5 лет назад +1

      Speaking form experience, the vibrations of a big rig plays havoc with the thin circuit board on these radios. I guess if you reflowed all the solder points it might last a good while but I suggest you find a radio that has a thicker circuit board and more strongly built. That being said, a lot of drivers use this 2950 and 2980. I would prefer using the HR2510 which appears to be better built and more durable especailly in a mobile.
