    I must say this is a WONDERFUL STRATEGY!
    I tried this strategy just now and found it very useful. Although I couldn't score well on the test because of some issues with the passage, I completed the test in time or maybe it took only a few minutes more (maybe because it was the first time I was using this strategy).

      What if we have types of questions like true false not given or flow chart or summary completion. Actually this strategy is so effective with certain questions but with other types it appears to be a waste of time simply because any IELTS test taker would panic .

    Scanning and skimming has never been my favorite strategy, with this method I couldn't understand well what is in a paragraph, for example if I had to solve a sentence completion question I had to go over the whole passage again, or to find a name. I have been using this strategy and I didn't know that it is recommended by such a professional. The way I was doing it was wrong, I have been reading for instance the paragraph A then going to first questions and finding the answer and so on... then I was going to next set of questions which till that time I was forgetting what was in the paragraphs and I had to read them again. Going through all the questions after reading one paragraph is a life saver :D

Skimming for IELTS tricky questions are not working for me.. although I might risk loosing time but it is better than panic on test day because to many blank answer. Better save the majority of the question rather than focusing to excel all sections.

    I tried this strategy for a mock test using IELTS previous real reading exam and I got 9 and have extra 7 minutes left at the end, thank you Alex and E2! Need to try more though before doing this in the real test.

      Hello, I am attempting the IELTS Academic. Unfortunately, I'm unable to understand her point from what she told, can you briefly explain what paragraph by paragraph method?

    • @citamagdalena
      @citamagdalena 3 года назад

      @@mayukhabommaraju5068 Hello, I think paragraph by paragraph means that at first, you read the first paragraph (for example paragraph A, check minute 6:46 on the video) and then look at the questions starting from the first number to the end of the questions and find the questions that you could answer by using the information from paragraph A. After that you read paragraph B and do the same thing until the last paragraph. So it is different than the usual read the questions first then read the whole text to find the answers, or read the whole text (all paragraphs) then read the questions. Hope this helps!

      @@citamagdalena Thank you so much! You're a life-saver! Although did you use any other methods for other types of questions? Because she clearly told us that this method helps for Match Information and Match Headings type questions. Hope I'm not disturbing you 😛

    Hi Alex and Jay, i got my IELTS results today and scored 7 bands overall in first attempt. I want to thank both of you from the bottom of my heart; because of your RUclips videos, i was able to get such a good quality material. God bless both of you, thank you so much!!!!
    P.S. while writing this, i used something which Jay taught as a writing tip😁

    I did 5.5 in listening and 5 in reading, i was disappointed because i learn english since i was 4 yo, but i get so distracted at the moment of the test and get so boring at it, and loss concentration, is a real struggle! 😞

    • @E2IELTS
      @E2IELTS  4 года назад +1

      Ohhh yes it can be so boring! You need to really think positively before and during the test - try to trick yourself into thinking it’s fun rather than terrifying. Improving concentration is part of your preparation 🙌🌟💪

    Hello Alex, you said this strategy is helpful in matching heading+ matching info. questions. So what is the best strategy for the rest of the questions in the exam such as T, F, NG/ Y, N, NG/ Summar completion by selecting words from box/ matching paragraphs & MCQs?
    kindly help, I have a problem with strategies + time management during solving tests.

      You should use this method for passages of any difficulty with any type of questions because you don't know how difficult a passage is in a real test until you have started doing it. Scanning, skimming or other attempts will waste time that could be better spend if the passage ends up being more difficult than easy.
      As to when the type of question seen on the test is T, F, NG kind, that is more a question of how do you differentiate between the three answer options and which is the best one given the content of the passage. That is not the same as the overall test strategy, which is more a question of how you process the information in the passage or the paragraphs of text there along wih the questions. There are videos on the T, F, NG differentiation and selection too if you search for them. Good luck.
