I read Eric Clapton's Biography a few years ago and if i recall correctly when he was playing with the yardbirds his band opened up for The Beattles, and he said he saw a piece of the show from the crowd but they were screaming so loud he could not hear the music, and he said he felt sorry for The Beattles because their fans loved them for being them and not for their music.
