The name "Shrouded Cetacean" has always bothered me because yes, it's a whale shark, but whale sharks are fish, not mammals. In any case, it definitely belongs on this list.
Maybe the blizzard devs don't actually know what a whale is either. From this comment section it seems a lot of people believe the whale shark is one for some reason.
It definitely is a reference, but that achievement is for the regular Whale Sharks. Mobus is a rare elite world boss that doesn't yield an achievement, and drops a leveled (if in Chromie Timewalking) polearm, a random epic item and then either a jewelcrafting or enchanting recipe.
I have thalassaphobia and Megalaphobia, so the first time I saw the whale shark (I know it's technically a whale despite the descriptor being in the wrong order) out in the distance in Vash'jir I pretty much clocked out.
4:47 That's DEFINITELY not a cetacean, that's a goddamn whale shark. For one thing, NO marine mammals have a vertical tail fin. Mammalian tail fins are horiztonal. Plus you can literally see its gills above the pectoral fins, lol. EDIT: Oh, and then the same model pops up as a whale shark for number 4.
I'm so glad I found this channel, it really was made for me and how I play. I have 2 video ideas? Top 10 NPC paths (ive followed many an NPC) and top 10 lanterns! There's so many good lanterns in this game it's astounding. I'd love to watch those videos!
Listening to you crendor reminds me of my brother. I miss him every day. He's not dead, just lives in another state. California to be exact. Anyways, see ya
Megalodon is not actually a carcharodon anymore, its an odontidae, meaning big tooth. The idea that megalodon was just a big great white is outdated at this point :)
They're both in the lamniformes order (mackerel sharks), but yeah, they're in different families. They're about as closely related as humans and chimps are to gorillas (very close, but still not that close).
Number 8 coral sharks have a big childhood memory for me. I remember killing one in durotar next to the troll island in vanilla and it dropped an 8 slot bag. I was so happy 8 slots was a big deal back then for me.
Crendor I always come back to your channel, you had a profound impact on me when I started WoW in the beginning of Cata and im glad you’re still making videos, im going to binge watch all i’ve missed today while leveling this priest 😂
been playing WoW for roughly 15 years, and despite encountering Segacedi numerous times, i never knew his name was a reference to the Sega CD either. so i learned something new today, and that's why...i'm giving this video a thumbs up.
That WoWhead comment is out of date since 2018 or so. Megalodon is now in its own genus, Otodus, and isn't even considered very closely related to the great white. Them being closely related was based on their teeth being very similar, and teeth are almost everything we have of Megalodon, but recently specialists studied what we have of the skeleton and realized it doesn't look like a great white there.
They're both in the lamniformes order, so they're kind of closely related (about as close as humans and chimpanzees are to gorillas), but they're not in the same in the same family.
@@Kylora2112 Didn't know they were Lamniformes but if Wikipedia is to be believed that checks out. Wikipedia also gives the Otodus genus itself a temporal range of 65-4 million years ago tho, which, counting generously, makes them about as close to great whites as lemurs are to humans. Order is a positively gigantic umbrella for animals too. Artiodactyla is an order of mammals, so by that comparison Otodus ends up about as close to Charcarodon as a cow is to a whale.
One of my favorite moments leveling through Cata is when i was questing in Vash'jir. I ran into a group of players trying to kill Mobus, and watched them all die, one by one. Truly terrifying. To this day i dont fuck with that guy
Back in MOP some people figured out how to kite the Shrouded Cetaceans to Halfhill. I logged in several times to check on my farm and found a giant dead whale in the middle of town. Good times.
The only body of water the shark in Dalaran could have come from naturally would have been the lake next to its original position in Silverpine Forest/Hilsbrad, but that's a fresh water lake with no connection to the ocean and I don't think it has sharks in it, so yes I think some mage teleported one in.
Im with you on redridge, but for a different reason. I like finishing all quests in a zone, but they just never end in redridge. Theres enough quests there for multiple zones. Those npcs need to learn to do something for themselves. Im surprised players dont have a quest to breath for them. I hate that place.
Thanks for the informational episode, but at least number 6 would have been nice to have some text added for Goodle searches. (Words like "Carcharodon" and "Cetacean" are a bit difficult to write correcly when just by listening how it is said.)😅
4:20 First, White Shark (Carcharodon carcharias) and Megalodon (Otodus megalodon) are no longer classified under the same Genus. Second, the bigger shark is clearly ment to be a fantasy rendition of a Whale Shark (Rhincodon typus) so it is not a cetacean, despite the common name referring to whales.
The corrupted sharks kinda remind me of ManEater, where you play as a shark and as you eat more and level up, you get access to a few different mutations. Not a bad game, I'd give it a recommendation to anyone interested in playing as a shark.
Updated Shark Models makes them less pointless since they add alot more depth to modern wow. Also Sharks in Vash'jir are very scary when are you a low level.
Just to be a complete nerd, the opening sentence: "inside pointless things are treasure" is incorrect. It is an inverted sentence wherein treasure is the subject. Treasure is a singular noun and thus the sentence should read: "inside pointless things is treasure."
When Wrath first launched, it was possible to kite Segacedi out of the water and I would constantly kite him up to the surface. Then Blizzard patched it.
Is epicus maximus the shark, the dinosaur, the forsaken guy jamming out, or is it like a band called "Epicus Maximus" and he's just their lead guitarist/singer?
So here's a fun fact that I found out about when I was trying to name my Sea Elf Fathomless Warlock for D&D: the scientific name for great white shark is carcharodon carcharias, however, they are *not* part of the carcharhiniformes sharks (carcharhiniformes sharks include hammerheads, lemon sharks, bull sharks, cat sharks, and tiger sharks). They are actually lamniformes, or mackerel sharks, which includes mako sharks (my favorite shark), goblin sharks, thresher sharks, basking sharks, and the extinct megalodon. My warlock's name is Mako Carcharias, and I was trying to figure out how to work Mako (a cool name in general) in with some other cool shark words, so I went with the species name of the great white ☺ And then to my horror I discovered that carcharodon carcharias is not in the carcharhiniformes (though they're very closely related).
I normally don't comment on videos but this time I'll do it I am a bit disappointed that the shark in tol barad in the area called cape of lost hope named tank wasn't on here he is a shark with spares swords and harpoons everything else embedded into him and he is a part of a quest where you have to go and kill him because he is terrifying the Undead Who are on shipwrecks tank to me is a legend still like the vid tho :D
I tried to make the number sound cool like I was underwater, but it just ended up sounding like I was talking into an xbox 360 headset
Which as we all know is far too cool for RUclips.
Oh no your drowning I'll send good vibes though xbox live chat
A pointless thing to do for a pointless top 10 list. And we appreciate it. It is a treasure.
You did a good job on the video can't wait for another one of the pointless top 10.
8:16 sounds like someone... Wasn't favored by Gral 🧐👀.
Maybe crendor should have earned grals favor. Lol
The sharks strapped to sharkpuncher should get an honorable mention. They work really hard.
I don't care how many top 10s Epicus Maximus ends up in, he deserves it all because he's just that epic.
Segacedi, is also quite a reference to the game Sewer Shark, on the Sega CD since he’s, well, a sewer shark.
Back in cata, if you had a rare scanner add on, it would notify you about Mobius all the way to Stormwind. The npc is just that huge.
I loved the part when Crendor said "It's Shark'n time!" and he sharked all over the place.
The name "Shrouded Cetacean" has always bothered me because yes, it's a whale shark, but whale sharks are fish, not mammals. In any case, it definitely belongs on this list.

just lazy devs being lazy, "should we do a whale model?" - "eh, just do the whale shark, close enough"
@@manschopanscho.How much work goes into creating a new model?
"Waters can't be shark infested. It's their home. It's where they live. You wouldn't say that a city is people infested." ;)
Mobus is for sure a reference to Moby Dick. You get an achivment for fighting him called "From Hell's Heart I stab at Thee". The reward is nothing.

Me too! I stepped foot ONCE in Vash'jir, scared myself, never went back. Unfortunate, because it seems like a cool zone.
I used to have nightmares from it as a kid. Seems like that zone spooked a lot of folk.
What, no the whale shark is definitely a a cartilaginous fish and a shark. A whale is a mammal and looks very different, look it up.
whales and dolphins have flat tails all fish including sharks have verticle tails
It's absolutely definitely not a whale, the name of that particular one is just wrong. Everything about its anatomy matches sharks, and not whales.
Credor: If somebody's afraid of sharks, i don't know how they're gonna feel about shadow sharks.
Jesse: historical screaming noises.
Would love to know Jesse's reaction to this
nah, number one shark will always be GNAWS. A reference to my favorite movie of all time.
Crendor, there was a Sega CD game called Sewer Shark -- that's the reference, lol.

Maws not being on the list is criminal
Listening to you crendor reminds me of my brother. I miss him every day. He's not dead, just lives in another state. California to be exact. Anyways, see ya
He might as well be if he chose to live there willingly. My condolences.
I think it's interesting that sharks in Azeroth can apparently live in freshwater, or possibly that some "lakes" in Azeroth are actually inland seas.
There are freshwater sharks in real life, and even some (e.g. bull sharks) can live in either freshwater or saltwater
expected evermaw at timeless isles to be on this list.
I love all the shaaarks! Thanks for the video!
My fav is the laser shark outside the bounds of nazjatar with a trex.

YO NO WAY, I WAS JUST THINKING OF POINTLESS TOP 10 SHARKS! AMAZING! KEEP IT UP! I LOVE POINTLESS THINGS!
Another banger crendor ! ❤
Crendor I always come back to your channel, you had a profound impact on me when I started WoW in the beginning of Cata and im glad you’re still making videos, im going to binge watch all i’ve missed today while leveling this priest 😂
Whale Sharks are some of the most amazing things to see in real life, but MAN DO THEY SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME IN WOW.
been playing WoW for roughly 15 years, and despite encountering Segacedi numerous times, i never knew his name was a reference to the Sega CD either. so i learned something new today, and that's why...i'm giving this video a thumbs up.
Specifically the game Sewer Shark.
I feel for my man, Ol gummers
Tank from Tol Barad!!!!! Waiting entire video to see him. He’s awesome and is named. Epic fail crendocious 😢
Ty for your videos bro, I know they are pointless but I always enjoy watching them in the morning before work lol
Top 10 wallpapers when (especially goblin buildings)

I feel you on redridge. Running a hardcore paladin on classic and man... its like every 4 feet theres a mob
4:29
That head shake animation. Wtf. 😂
My favorite part of
The week
Back in MOP some people figured out how to kite the Shrouded Cetaceans to Halfhill. I logged in several times to check on my farm and found a giant dead whale in the middle of town. Good times.
I feel you on redridge. I did quest there but it was meh. I did like traveling through it though
I like the shark in the goblin starting zone.
Shadow Shark allied race when?
where's maws from classic? (the scepter of the shifting sands quest raid boss shark in azshara)
Jesse’s most anticipated pointless top ten
I love your videos ❤️🐱🍔 keep going man

Top 10 ducks!! Please!
This is the 2nd thing thing about sharks I have seen today. Which is not a lot but strange that it happened twice😅
Top 10 pointless caves caverns and tunnels!
Top 10 pointless rare mobs!
Is the one we chased around timeless isle a shark or a whale, or maybe a whale shark? I remember that one for sure.
Megalodon hasn't been in the same genus as the great white for quite a while. They used to be thought closely related, but aren't any more.

This video was all a ploy for crendor to confess that he doesn't like Redridge
When Wrath first launched, it was possible to kite Segacedi out of the water and I would constantly kite him up to the surface. Then Blizzard patched it.
shark skin is actually incredibly smooth
No it's not? It literally looks like thousands of tiny sharp teeth. It's a similar texture to a cat's tongue.
Isn't it closer to sand paper?
I am touching a shark right now and it is incredibly smooth.
Bro soo good, can you make one just for underwater monsters? I really want to see that new abysall levaithan
Sharks constantly regrow their teeth. So Old Gummers missing so many is a really bad sign for his health.
Have you done a 10 list of times they break the 4th wall? 10 list of Shakespeare references.
iv made Garrosh fight the Shrouded Sharks in Krasarang in the introquest to Landfall a few times.
Megalodon is no longer in the Carcarodon genus but Otodus genus. There was no hydra in redridge but treshers (plesiosaurs).
Is epicus maximus the shark, the dinosaur, the forsaken guy jamming out, or is it like a band called "Epicus Maximus" and he's just their lead guitarist/singer?
Yes.
Sharks do have bones, but their bones ain't calcium bones as the mammal, birds and reptiles, but they're made out of collagen.
Jesse should react to this in VR
Mom, Crendor Crended again!

Bro, there were so many sharks in the water that the water(elemental) is afraid going into the water.
Maybe top ten profession trainers next time?
4:58 Min.: In german they are called walhai. What means wale shark xD

The countdown sounds like you recorded it underneath your blanket, hiding from these sharks.
Mobus was fun to solo as a cara pally
Crendor did you ever figure that shark in Dalaran is a SHARK WIZARD?
No one can deny the power of the whale Shark! If he wasn’t number 1 I was going to unsubscribe!
I like redridge lol
The pack in game with the sega cd was sewer shark at one point.
isn't the sewer shark a reference to the Sega CD game Sewer shark. it's layered.
Oh no, sharks absolutely eat peeps lol.
Nice
isn't Evermaw also a shark? Surprised it's not on the list :)
Oh yea, this is my kind of video
YESSSSSSS ❤️🦈
Old Gummers is just like me frfr
Darn, this episode could have used a Jesse Cox cameo.😅
Crendor I think you should dare Jesse to watch this video.
Jesse is gonna hate this video 😂
Duh dum. Duh dum.
We need a shark mount
