Tremors is one of those movies that manages to strike a perfect balance with monster horror, suspense and comedy, with a unique creature that is fresh in its design and absolutely terrifying (since the first time I watched it years ago).
What I liked the graboids in the first movie is that next to no detail about their origins and what they do outside of hunting and grabbing people who s unexplained.
The characters were also very well written and portrayed. The chemistry between Val and Earl is believable in the way they play off each other with banter and the occasional conflict between them. Bury and Heather are my two favourite characters from the first film because of the scene where the graboid bursts into the basement and they just use an obscene amount of guns to take it down (the blend of miniature effects and practical creatures is excellent in this movie).
I’ve always liked the first four Tremors movies. 5 had some good ideas and a redesign that wasn’t too far removed from the original. 6 I’d say is probably the worst one. 7 was an improvement over 6 with some issues of its own, but it has a very shocking ending (I wont spoil for those who haven’t seen it).
I only saw the first three and the television show. Tremors is a film that never seems to get old and is a classic monster movie that seems to continue to get more fun with each viewing. All you have said is spot on about the first film. Thanks for watching @danfilming 👍
