      I remember there was, believe it or not, a point in time when somebody was allowed to have differing opinions. And people who disagreed, shut the fuck up and respected their opinions. I know. It sounds crazy. But that was a thing at one point. The dark days some of you would call it.

    • @wkadalie
      @wkadalie 5 лет назад +1

      Honestly every game is copy and paste. Their isn't enough hard drive space to make every NPC different. I was listening to how they made the Horde. Which is quite a difficult feat. They just duplicated 3 or four models, and increased heights and widths to make them different. And other stuff but that was the gist.

Obviously, his tastes have changed; he's really into the games as a service game and that is where he finds his rewards and enjoys the most (not saying he doesn't still like single player or other games but obviously his focus has been Monster Hunter World, Division 2, Fortnite, etc). So far 20 hours in days gone and I'm loving days gone. I am gutted Greg's disappointed with him being hyped for it after playing it for a few hours at an event. But the game does need a patch for some of the random frame rate drops it has and the audio bugs . I did not expect the game to reward me after missions with say guns or items. I do find that the missions objectives you complete has percentages and at certain stages you do unlock bike skins or weapons or upgrades and then trust for your camp. I guess the developers wanted it this was because it's meant to be a survival game . I understand if you enjoy the loot and rewards from ac-o for everything you do , but I don't see days gone like that style of game. The problem is you can’t just buy what you want in MK11, if you could it would actually alleviate a lot of its problems. There are basic skins that should be easy to obtain, but instead you’ll keep getting alternate color variants that look nothing like the character from the RNG/grind and skins that used to be real easy to get before or came by default are now super hard to get. The Krypt was never the problem before, the problem now is it’s RNG. The currency management/grind is super heavy but the micro transactions are non-existent. It’s like a game designed to incentivize purchases but without the means to do so.

    You have to wait to the end, but the real reason the game probably doesn't click is that he has to marathon these games to get to next one. They left IGN, but still operate like they are with IGN. There should be no deadlines. Since they still get free games, I guess it's hard to sink time into one. Survival games just might not be their thing as these games tend to not be fun in the sense that are you smiling and giddy. They are like you said, an experience where you get immersed in the world. I imagine it probably is not fun, but depressing and hard. If they want a game where it doesn't take itself too seriously, their are games like Dead Island and Dead Rising.

    I know it’s a lot to ask but I think Kinda Funny needs correspondents for the games they don’t spend as much time with lol.
    Part of the problem with MK11 is that fighting game players tend to “main” a specific character. So you could earn koins and go to the krypt and unlock a box but it’s randomly generated (vs previous MKs) and end up with something for characters other than the one you want. And certain items can only be unlocked in the krypt, forcing the grind.

What you can buy are time crystals which you can use in the store where you can purchase 5 random skins/brutalities/etc that change every 24 hours. So no it isn't setup to make you purchase with real money since it's literally impossible to buy what you need. • @charliemilroy6497
      @charliemilroy6497 5 лет назад

      Spot on. Andrea says that she likes power fantasies. This game might just not be for her. Greg seems to always want instant gratification. The concept of the whole game is that the world is out to get you, and they really nail that. There are a lot of things to improve on for the sequel, but being weak compared to hundreds of enemies at once is the whole point.
      Playing the game makes you really wary of approaching the hordes because your life depends on it, also you can't deal with them out in the open. When you finally get to take on the hordes you feel genuinely anxious. If the last one gets you, then you have to start again. You do grow gradually stronger and you have access to better weapons too because the camps trust you. That works really well. The fast travel is excellent, it takes petrol and you can only fast travel if you have cleared the path. Contrast with Watchdogs 2 that lets you fast travel anywhere in the map without even visiting it first or red dead that forces a tedious ride on you.

Whatever he is seeing in the menus are not microtransactions, so I think Andrea is right when she says he is confused. He also doesn't seem to know what the microtransactions even are in this game, because you cant buy the things he says you can.

    That was a very long Days Gone rant and a perfect example how different the reception ist between press metacritics and the actual players who seem to just like this game and have still fun with videogames.
    I played 60 hours and enjoyed every minute, every progression towards the end game, because everything you do is rewarding and makes the skills, weapons and bike better.
    Its also a very unique sony game with the dynamic weather and lighting effects and dynamic horde movements on the map. The sound effects are the best in a videogame i have ever experienced and the caves reminds me about the horror movie Descent with the same feeling.
    I also can't ignore the fact that Bend Studio is a much smaller studio than Santa Monica Studio, Naughty Dog, Guerilla Games and Insomniac Games and Days Gone was the first big game for Bend since the PS1 and PS2 time and Bend Studio did a great job with so many dynamic systems implemented into this open world game corresponding to each other like no other Sony game did before.
    I hope Sony will support Bend Studio more with more creative people working for this studio and a better bugfixing next time before the launch of the next game.

    People are still so misinformed on MK11. There are skins and items in the game that you have to unlock through the towers or the Krypt. You cannot buy them with time crystals, the majority of items need to be earned. Just look in the menus, it will say, unlocked in tower/krypt. I think they need to adjust the amount it cost to unlock some of the soul chests and heart chest so it feels like less of a grind, but it is nowhere near as bad as people think.

    • @ZackM72
      @ZackM72 5 лет назад

      Agreed and the RNG setup of the Krypt is bullshit too. I think they need to lower the costs and maybe up the earning a little, make a heart chest 150 and give 10 hears per finisher so 15 fights and you can open a chest is a bit more manageable. And make the Krypt a standard layout, if I only want stuff for Sub Zero let me go in with a list of chests and grind out my cost and get them. Not have me go in hoping this chest because of the cost has a skin in it and doubly hope its a Sub Zero skin, only to get a bunch of armor pieces for Jax and Johnny

  • @mecharobots
    @mecharobots 5 лет назад +3

    Also the in game currency for mk11 bad as you get 1 heart per fatality or 2 for brutality...... you need 250 for a chest but you also can win hearts by getting a required score in towers but if your not good as games then the grind is bad. Plus the krypt is R&G so you don't even know what you unlock 😅 plus the story mode about 4 hours which was fine for me because it was a blast. The two reason this game is a grind because yes they want you to spend money on the light micro transactions currency and also extend the life of mk11 because of all the costumes. But I enjoy the costumes but it should not take this long to unlock it all. 25 character have 60 skins then 30 masks , 30 weapons and 30 other pieces of armour and it takes forever to unlock it all. They should of done what tekken 7 done with treasure mode and in game currency .

Simple fact is Open World games are meant to be build with the world design in mind. Repetition tends to stem from the player and not the game itself. Does it play a role? Yes but it's not the major factor. People simply have different ways of playing and builds up in the experience you go through. First off, Greg Miller has the bighead something fierce. I remember his early days as a prepubescent twirp at IGN but his passion for PlayStation and his self deprecating manner made him totally tolerable. 2019 Greg Miller refers to himself in the third person (did it about 5 times this video), interrupts his colleagues ad nauseum (watch Andrea's face around 1:14:30 when he railroads her out of nowhere just as she's making her point) and speaks obnoxiously louder than he did at IGN when it was his schtick.
    Perhaps even more egregious than Miller's budding meglomania is Fran's idiotic comments throughout. From jumpstreet he is going to add his 2¢ to a game review after playing Days Gone for TWO HOURS. Throughout the review his ignorance re: the game is painfully obvious, interrupting the review in attempts to finish Greg or Andrea's sentences with complete misinformation. The interrupting is bad enough, though it's something all of these "journalists" do repeatedly, but it's the guessing & filling in the blanks with BS just to get airtime & be involved that's really cringey; at least the other dude who had only played for a few hours as well kept quiet.
    This was part of a critical pile on that the gaming journalism community has executed on Sony Bend's Day's Gone. It's seems to be some kind of punishment for being a Sony Exclusive that didn't match their expectations & all the hype. So now they've decided to grade Days Gone on a curve...a roller coaster curve.
    The public has overwhelmingly judged the game quite positively as sales have been huge AND consumer player reviews are positive. There are several open world games that are rated 7.5 or more on Metacritic released in the last 18 months that are just as repetitive as Day's Gone. That's the nature of these games. KindaFunny Games shit the bed on this review. You could of been the voice of reason and truly grade the game for what it is: a solid, good game that while far from perfect will resonate with fans of the open world genre and hopefully serve as a first course of Bend's new IP in the same way Watch Dogs did for Ubisoft. They made a good, not perfect game, and went back and fixed their mistakes and improved to make Watch Dogs 2 a much better game. I hope Day's Gone gets that chance in spite of over exaggerated nit-pick reviews like this one.
