I love my pace. Just to add another perspective to the bike as I have loved it. Much nicer and enjoyable as a everyday bike compared to my yt Capra. 1. Beast of a bike. Will do anything you ask it. I raced graythwaite Enduro on it and it was me, not the bike that could not cope. 2. Frame will mark and scratch easy. Get it invisi framed. 3. Rear shock tune great for trail riding but pushes through the mid stroke when pushed hard (it is a trail bike not DH bike after all). 4. Learn to ride more on the front and take advantage of the head angle. 5. Had the hope package. Change the grips they are rock hard. Go for the hunt wheels. Just a nicer feel and lighter. 6. Everyone will ask you "what's that" still not common on trails but i would think that will change. Can not recommended it enough. 👍👍
Looks like it pedals quite well especially when putting power in which is very impressive. Unlike those Santa Cruz low link suspension bikes which are like pedaling a tank when you put the power in. The pace looks like a great well sorted bike.
I’ve ridden that so many times but the ramblers and ice blocked what I always thought was the fastest race* line so I just made it up as I went along. *i guess that’s what I’m crap at racing 🤣
Can I ask a quick question, it is an amazing looking bike and by all accounts rides like a dream. The concern I have is the cable routing under the BB, I ride mainly in the tweed valley and Dunkeld, so I would be concerned these would catch on stumps rocks and also fill with crud. What was your experience?
Agree with you on the rear stay rubber protection, though I haven't removed it (yet). My heels hit that rubber too, and with crank-end protectors, they rub if I really put some torque into the cranks. On an RC295 2.0, I think Adrian could design 1-2mm more clearance there IMHO. Otherwise a great bike, even though I haven't managed tons of riding on mine, as winter is upon us here in Sweden. Also had issues with a slow Reverb, but that's Shimano, not Pace... What were the exact DT wheelset fitted @GuyKesTV ? I didn't catch what you said
Hi Guy, great follow on from your original RC295 video. How XC is this bike. I would like one, but live in Cambridgeshire and so there isn't much gradient on my local rides. I am very close to ordering a Santa Cruz Tallboy, but keep being drawn back to Pace.... It is impossible to get a demo of a Pace (difficult before lockdowns), so want to get an idea about if the 295 is massively over biked for someone looking at a Tallboy to ride the mild gradients of Cambridgeshire. Thanks
Hi Ben, as you can see it's easy to build up the Pace pretty light and it pedals very efficiently so it's as happy on the flats as a Tallboy would be. There's zero difference in weight either and both have similar geometry (if you run the Pace in high/steep) although they are definitely stabilised for faster/steeper riding. TBH if you want to get fast miles in on flatter terrain and still have a lot of fun somewhere like Thetford then have a look at the SC Blur or the Spesh Epic Evo. Steeper more responsive geometry, but still a surprisingly amount of control and a kilo or more lighter with faster tyres as standard that'll work well on the sandier soils. There's reviews of both on the site if you have a search about. Trek Top Fuel or Canyon Neuron wouldn't be a bad shout either.
Hey Guy, just wanted to rewind to your Hope / Hunt wheel comment. What's your detailed opinions? I only ask as I've bought some new Hope Fotus 30s... 😬 Havent fitted them yet.
Have you weighed them? The rims of the set I tested a year ago were hugely heavy and the wheel set clocked in somewhere near 2300g. That's a lot heavier than the Fortus 35 and they're DH weight already. They're extremely hard to kill as a result but even the Hunt Enduro wide will save you knocking on 400g and that's really noticeable in the ride.
@@GuyKesTV thanks so much for getting back to my Guy. Really given me something to think about. I really do want something that is going to take a beating but as you say, perhaps it's overkill and the Hunt Enduro wide would do the same job without the weight penalty.
Did you say you were riding a Sonder (in the end subtitles). Pace are always interesting to me, I worked near their place, and some of the chaps there knew the owner. Sadly, they're way over my meagre budget. As it happens, the Sonder Transmitter is nearer for me.
Great review. Pity the Pace hasn’t got HB130 build quality, does look a bit ‘agricultural’ in places for a carbon bike (says me, who’s considering a Cotic Jeht for my next bike 🤣).
What? About the fact that if you fit a larger tyre than Pace say will fit it rubs on the frame? (He actually says he used a 2.4 but if you check the picture he used a 2.5. Also he didn’t like the Reverb plunger or a saddle that’s previously won every grouptest it’s ever been in. Despite saying it’s not super sensitive off the top he recommends more low speed compression to address a linear stroke rate when that won’t affect the progression. Plus if he’d checked with Pace he’d have found out they now fit 2 volume spacers as standard. Plus 3.5 stars for a bike which he says “I managed to set several personal records on the RC295 on a host of trails that I’d only previously ridden on longer travel enduro rigs. I found this particularly impressive considering the terrain I was riding and the amount of travel the bike had. Its descending prowess was its standout quality and the suspension’s calmness mirrored by sensations of smoothness - a product of the bike’s overall build. There was little harshness reverberated into my hands and feet over square-edge bumps or through rock gardens, and lines were easy to pick and stick to because the bike tracked true and didn’t get deflected. I found the relationship between my hands and feet was spot on, too. I was never pitched front or back excessively, and didn’t find myself needing to make extreme shapes to keep control and maintain speed.” Obviously all testers have different opinions which is why you should read around like you have, but I think you can tell where I’m leaning with this one....
Couldn’t agree more Guy. I bought mine on the strength of your early reviews and I’ve not regretted it for a minute. It’s a brilliant bike.
So glad to hear you’re enjoying it
Nice review Guy, great to see a 'local' family business turning out world class bikes... kudos to the Carters!

It's a beautiful bike, and it's local too!
Glad you still love it. Can't wait to get mine and play on the fells. Hopefully not too long now. 🤘
It still on the top of list for my next bike just need to save up some funds before clicking on the buy button, since I bought a van last summer.

What a persuasive review!
I've just built up the new Boggle Hole colour in a fresh spec so check those videos too. Still an awesome bike
Ha - KOM a dh whilst vlogging and avoiding the walkers that have appeared EVERYWHERE over lockdown. Legend!

I didn’t even send the top drop in case some Sunday strollers suddenly appeared within the braking zone 🤷♂️
nice review, shame i bought a nukeproof, loving the fact its a PACE, and they are back in the game
Great stuff Guy 😉👌🚴👌

"Guy please slow down!"
Guy:"no! I'm sitting on my pace" 😋

In saying XC I mean downcountry...

Hi fella ! Great review again! Tell
Me about the rear tyre clearance please? A well known mag has criticised it in this area. Cheers
That’s because MBUK’s tester put a 2.5in tyre in a frame with stated 2.4in clearance. You’ll see that if you look at the pictures on bikeradar.
Oh and scroll up to Shaun’s comment to see the reply I posted about the other ‘issues’ in the test 🤦♂️

There's a Sonder Cortex video as the intro on the site right now. Hopefully Transmitter soon too as that's an awesome bike.

100% with you on the machining on the outside of the rockers. That would of looked great!
hey Guy what gasses are you using?
Ey up David, these ones: www.cyclingnews.com/reviews/red-bull-spect-flow-cycling-sunglasses-review/

@@GuyKesTV nice comments, nice review, british company
@@GuyKesTV you have better eyes than me, I looked with a magnifying glass and still couldn't make out the tyre size 🤣
@@shauncarpenter2054 It's a lot clearer if you look at the review online on bike radar
