    That’s so crazy that you’re in facility management does so few people who are in general building maintenance facility management on RUclips and it’s good to see other perspectives. I’m a building maintenance guy for a bank. I have 17 banks in three counties in New York.. I work from home.. and I also have a really cool workshop and soon to be office inside of a bank vault from the 1800s with all the crazy clockwork on the front door and it looks like a battleship. I also have a company vehicle that is a Chevy equinox. It’s pretty small and I do a lot with it, but I gave up on the Milwaukee pack out system pretty early on because that’s really made for contractors.. guys like us are like stagecraft guys if you’ve ever seen how stagecraft guys are that’s how we are where an everything guy who has to carry a little bit of everything whether it be tape or a hammer or a small ladder. I have a Dewalt whatever you call it drawer system in my backseat behind my driver seat so when I get out, I can go right directly behind me and I have two drawers of hardware and I have two drawers of supplies for painting, patching, fixing wood and leather type items. I have a laundry bar across the back hanging from the two handles, and I have big carabiners on that where I can hang anything from zippered tool pouches on a steel ring to electric leaf blowers to spray bottles. The rear passenger seat is free and clear for items from the hardware store or boxes of items to be installed. The front seat is sort of an office with my book bag, and I have two rows of tool belts hanging in the front seat on the front seat, and those tool belts are used to hold things like hand, lotion and cologne to notepads markers, pens, tape measures flashlights EDC go to quick grab tools and other items like a headlamp. My rear cargo area has a big plastic tote inside that is things ranging from degreaser and lubricant to spray paint for touchups and metal cleaners. Then the other side of my cargo area is open for tool bags and such and those are sitting on a wooden deck that raises everything up 6 inches to allow for drawers underneath and I have pull out drawers for drills and drill bits and other go to EDC items. I should do a video, but I definitely wouldn’t go for the Milwaukee pack out that’s for people who have a van that’s for people who that would actually be perfect for stagecraft people but if you’re a regular Joe, who has a minivan or an SUV or a small van you might want something a little bit differentto a maintenance guy like myself that just doesn’t cut it for me. That’s for people who want to throw a circular saw in that big bin?

    I can see this setup working better as a 3 drawer packout with the big drawer on bottom and 2 shallow on top. Tha way you can just pull a drawer out and call it good. I do use packout myself but in a limited form. I use the packout hand truck and a crate on top for material storage. That's for larger jobs or stuff that requires a fair bit of stuff. Look into the hand truckmaybe a 3 drawer on bottom then you could stack bags organizers whatever on top. Also you don't have to be married to packout you can put cleats or attach drawers or anything to any hand truck base slim small dosent matter. It's all in what you like and it looks like your willing to customize so have fun with it!

    • @Coopsgarage33
      @Coopsgarage33  2 месяца назад +1

      I’ve got a 3 drawer that I’m currently using for organizing my electrical and plumbing supplies. I do much prefer the drawer setup for accessibility. My only problem is I can’t get the Packout hand truck in my car it’s a bit too big. The new Klein modbox rolling drawer base looks like it would be a perfect setup.
      I love your improvised threshold. I think those ‘improvising on the fly’ while still maintaining a functional clean look is what makes for an excellent handyman or building engineer. Creative solutions! Nice work.

      Glad to hear that there's always an adapter for everything use what works for you best. If you ever have a random 2x4 on it's side from framing that's not cut out or partially obstructed by concrete or anything you can get a 5in comerical threshold thoes aluminum ones and they are 3 3/4in on the inside channel and c9ver it up like nothing happened and keeps you ada compliant.

    I wanna know what kind of facility management you do. I’ve always worked in the office buildings where I had one building and that was it. I didn’t go anywhere else, but I would have maybe four or five floors maybe 700 employees to tend to. In some cases, I might have a three building campus.. and something like that would’ve been perfect for all the years I worked in office buildings. I could just walk out of the shop in the morning and not come back till the afternoon. But I always use all those years with a Rubbermaid push cart modified with all kinds of crazy shit on it. A lot of bosses don’t wanna buy those cause they’re too expensive.

      @@AndyD-g6t I’d say mostly a facility manager. It’s a 50,000 sqft building and I am responsible for all of the upkeep on the equipment and the maintenance of the building. Inside and out. We also own three residential properties next door and those also fall under my purview. It’s a small enough building that I do a little bit of everything and hire out the things I don’t have time to do or don’t have expertise in.

  • @KO-Handyman
    @KO-Handyman 9 дней назад

    It sounds to me as though you bought this with your own money for a facility manager job that didn’t work out too well after you found out that you were just the janitor, the maintenance guy that everything guy for no money and you spent all that money, buying tools and shit for the job and you left and now you got all the tools and shit at home And now you work somewhere where they buy all the shit for you. i’ve been a maintenance guy my whole life and that’s been the story of my life and I learned a lot of hard lessons like that so many maintenance jobs take advantage of guys and I fell for that shit for too many years as a young guy where I was spending shit tons of money on tools to bring to a job that paid me nothing never got reimbursed for tools I bought, and was always just told that I should own my own tools, the way an auto mechanic owns his own tools because the gas station doesn’t own your mechanic tools, your mechanical tools so why should the employer own the tools when the mechanic should own the tools meanwhile, as a maintenance guy, you have to have 20 million different tools because you’re doing a little bit of every trade you can’t be spending $350 on a multimeter for job that’s paying you $14 an hour that doesn’t even make sense and most maintenance jobs pay absolutely nothing and the companies you’re working for are companies that are making so much money that if you read about them in Forbes magazine and saw how much money those companies made you sure as shit wouldn’t of agreed to work for a lower wage as you agreed to because these companies have enough money to pay a guy to do facility management like that they have enough money to pay them six figures. I work for a bank and what I do is I go in the bank? I inspect the cleanliness I inspect everything soup to nuts. Make sure the contractors who we have service contract with did their work and if not, submit work orders for the work not done if I see a really bad problem I’ll take care of it. I’ll fix it or I’ll clean it up so I might clean smudges off a glass front door And I’ll also unclog a toilet change a lightbulb fix the thermostat and change a lightbulb outside the building and maybe paint some line stripes in the parking lot. I get a company vehicle an SUV to take home. That’s just like a family car loaded with a shit ton of tools. They let me buy whatever I want. I go on buy tools constantly. If it’s raining and I don’t have a raincoat I go buy a raincoat with my company credit card. If it’s sunny I’m having a hard time driving I stop off somewhere and I buy sunglasses with my company credit card because it’s impeding my job. Nobody questions what I buy nobody questions my mileage nobody questions my gas usage. I take care of all my own maintenance with my vehicle like it’s my own car. I get it washed with my company credit card. I have a nice clean company family vehicle that I can use to drive my kids around on the weekend And on Monday morning I load the tools back up and get ready for work, but you should never lay out any money for tools ever as a maintenance guy because nobody anywhere in any building maintenance job anywhere in any state or any city in America doesn’t make enough money. It’s a supply themselves with their own tools. I’ve been a maintenance man in the highest paid maintenance jobs in New York City and you’ll never make enough money in that business to buy your own tools your employer must supply the tools you need everything you can to do your job properly, even if that means buying a cupholder for your company vehicle I do it. I don’t see why anyone else should be living any different that I’m living if you’re gonna make under $100,000 a year doing a multitude of different trades inspecting shit probably cleaning shit up and doing 1 million other things you should at least be comfortable enough throughout your day that you should be able to have a cupholder in your vehicleor something like that that helps you do your job better every day
