Big Hero 6 was originally a Marvel comic that came out in the 90’s as a response to the popularity of Manga & Anime. Hence why Stan Lee had a cameo in the movie, and the film itself is more based off of the 2013 comic relaunch that sadly wasn’t as popular as it should have been. If they were to make a sequel of the movie, there were rumours of Tadashi coming back from the dead as a villain named Sun-Fire. Who is an X-Men character in the comics, and Tadashi would be revealed as a mutant or an enhanced human.
Holden in the name of all that is holy, DO NOT WATCH MEGAMIND 2. It’s one of the biggest garbage fire sequels of all time. It’s not even a real movie, it’s a pilot for an equally terrible tv show. They couldn’t even get the original actors to reprise their roles.
Stan Lee being there is because the movie is based off a Marvel Comics superhero team called Big Hero 6. Stan Lee had no involvement with the creation of the book but he is arguably the human face of the company in the public zeitgeist
@@TimothyMills77it’s likely because this was Disneys take on the concept and the team itself is not hugely popular with the comic community. The actual Big Hero 6 team are pretty different from the cast in the movie and Disney obviously took artistic licence to let it be its own thing like creating San Fransokyo which doesn’t exist within Marvel comics or the MCU
Oddly it kinds inferenced hin to have ideas that around 2009 he went to Japan, collab with ppl to make two things: Ultimo and Heroman. I remember seeing the teasers and trailers for this and was not impressed. It wasn't until I went over to a friends house and we watched it together I realized how amazing this movie is! Yall are right, this movie really takes on some really mature and dark stories but it handles them with care. I was a full grown man tearing up when Baymax basically dies in what looks like the Quantum Realm lol. I went to Walmart and bought this movie as soon as I could. I knew Jen was gonna get torn apart about Baymax the moment I saw yall reacting to this movie!
My late wife (passed in 2020) was a huge fan of the Baymax fist bump. Our 6yo son has started doing the 'ba-da-la-La-la-la-La' with our fist bumps. But, this film just has a lot to say about personal grief. And support systems. Everyone needs a non-judgemental Baymax to help them though grief. Also, that moment, Hiro removes the Tadashi chip, just allowing Hiro's personal grief-anger to be funneled through Baymax was just frightening, and cathartic. It was a really powerful statement about one of the most overlooked emotions of grief.
@@lisaleyendekker8305 By Matt's logic, he didn't. Uncle Ben was brought back from another universe to talk down the enraged Spider-Man who had both the Venom and Carnage symbiote in a 90's Spider-Man special.
In the comics, it was Hiro's Father who died not his brother (Hiro is an only child), Baymax also turns into a dragon when he gets angry but Hiro is the one who built & designed Baymax in the comics. this version of Baymax is the reboot of the comics
Big Hero 6 as a creation from Marvel Comics. It was a Japanese superhero team created by the creative team, Man of Action, aka, the people who brought you Ben 10 and Generator Rex. It all started as a X-Men spin-off, where Sunfire, a Japanese member of the X-Men, went back to Japan and formed the team, with every member of the movie being in it... But VASTLY changed up, making it a completely new franchise, yup, franchise since they had a Disney XD show, and appeared in Kingdom Hearts 3, and as of typing this, Fortnite.
Thank you guys so much for watching BH6. I was 9 when this movie came out and I cried so much in the theater watching it. I still cry watching it lol. I'm just a very tender-hearted person. I like that you guys have your Hero and he has his Baymax, that's so adorable. I remember when I got my first dog and I was a huge fan of TWO-OZ, and I named my dog Toto lol. Sadly Toto passed away. Now I have a dog named Oreo lol. But anyway, animated movies have gotten a lot more emotion and depth to them lately, which is why I hope you guys react to Transformers: One soon, it made me cry too lol.
I saw this in theaters when I was like 13 with my younger step siblings and my mom. I really liked it then but rewatching it I’m realizing how great of a movie it actually is
As a parent of a child who was very dependent on his stuffed dog (Pup-pup), I strongly approve Jen's plan to have extras. Pup-pup was a beanie baby (Bones) that I was given as an adult so we had to scour eBay to find extras.
The tower in the city that Baymax and Hiro circle when learning how to fly was based on Salesforce Tower in SF. The tower wasn't completed yet when the movie was being made but I believe they got the renderings of what the tower was going to look like so they could put it in the movie.
Fun fact. You can see Tadashi Hamada chip from Baymax in The Avengers Age of Ultron when Tony is searching for Friday to use in his mask to replace Jarvis
In case you were curious, San Fransokyo came about as a result of the Great Earthquake of 1906. During the rebuilding process Japanese immigrants lent their design expertise to strengthen the city. To mark this cooperation the city was renamed, and eventually both cultures merged into what's seen in the movie. Disney California Adventure rethemed part of the park into a mini San Fransokyo with an Aunt Cass Cafe and Baymax meet and greet.
The hero kit design and little animation details in this movie are super cool! The microbots' art design look awesome in action. I also love the little touches, like the fact that HoneyLemon isn't just pulling random substances out of her super-tech purse thing - if you look closely, she's actively dictating on the fly via the Periodic Table touchscreen inputs on the purse which elements are combining in what volumes to produce the chemical compounds with the material characteristics she needs for the situation. Also, like Jen was saying, the general aesthetic and animation style they went with for this movie is just beautiful! I love the fusion of the Japanese and American designs into a slick hybrid thing that's really eye-catching and imaginative.
*I love this movie so much. How Hiro deals with the grief of losing his brother Tadashi is so real. I can relate to his emotional anguish so well, having lost my paternal grandparents, whom I loved dearly. I lost my grandfather when I was in the 8th grade and my grandmother more recently.*
In theater the movie hit really hard with Tadashi's death when a little girl in the audience said he died like she understood but couldn't believe it. Also Baymax was found in Kingdom Hearts 3.😊
This movie is so emotional and really leant in to the geek-dom of its time. It’s a real 10/10 for me and I’m so happy your Hero has his own Baymax! I’d love to see you guys watch some classic Si-if like E.T or Terminator! Thanks for the great video
Big Hero, movie where disney actually did some good things. Death of a character, humor, emotional, dealing with lose, accepting the future of life, friends/family, mystery and good entertainment.
30:01 Fun Fact: Kingdom Hearts 3 acts as a (pseudo)sequel to this. They eventually get the first Baymax out of the void and have two Baymax's LOL. Also, there's two Big Hero 6 shows on D+ if you ever wanted to watch with Hero eventually!
Ahh, I'm gonna have to watch this movie now (I can't finish watching this until I do btw), because they added this big red guy to this season's Fortnite battle pass, they even gave him a Samurai style! I have absolutely no idea who the heck he is, but most people on twitter & YT are defending him and the franchise instead of dumping on it, which rarely EVER happens, so I have to see what all the fuss is about. After I've seen it, I'll come back here to tell you my thoughts and finish your reaction. ☺️👌
I love this movie, most especially the scene where Hiro nearly kills Callahan with Baymax. The music there is amazing, and you really feel the tragedy of using Baymax, something Tadashi created to heal, being perverted into a weapon used to kill. Intense.
In the second volume of the comic series, the artist actually put me and my friend in the book. My avatar is from that book. The artist is named David Nakayama, and he does a lot if work for both DC and Marvel now

Big Hero 6 is a really movie. My family and I had a fun time watching this in theaters for tge first time. Nice reaction! Plus, Holden I recommend you and Jen react to All Dogs Go To Heaven and The Fox and the Hound because the main characters are dogs.
Honestly, the biggest issue with this movie is the single line "that was his mistake." It made Callaghan's whole twist villain thing sour. He had all the elements to be an amazing twist villain and just a villain in general, but with that line alone, it made him sound like a insane person instead with no redeeming qualities.
Baymax is so clumsy and awkward but in such a cute way, and he easily gets distracted by the most tiniest things. Him being all big, fluffy and cuddly is the icing on the cake, but with the fact that all he wants is to make sure you're okay, and willing to go on life risking missions just for a chance that it'll make you feel better, is what makes him so special. He's always thinking about your safety, and won't stop until you're happy or until his battery is out... That shh pulls my heartstrings bro. 🥺😭❤️🩹🧑⚕️🩺🏥
