    FFXV actually has a lot of great ones. The creepy snake lady who thinks you kidnapped her children, the corrupted Emperor, what happens if you stay out too late at night, just the whole world right after the time skip and having to fight a horde of monsters and not knowing if anywhere is safe. Even people who don't like the game have to admit it did atmosphere very well.

      I think you are right, the whole vibe when everything is dark (or even at night) makes it scary to go outside even, and find a resting place. The snake lady is so good I had to sneak her in during the intro footage 🤣

      I love the atmosphere and small arc of it; it really caught me off guard as it was a "weren't we chasing summons?" moment for me (as it was a MSQ), but I love this change of atmosphere when involving in different lands and places etc

    14 has a number of scary side stories, though i think Edda's story is probably one of the best. You encounter Edda and her party several times outside early dungeons, but may miss them if you don't talk to them. Then when they split up after a tragedy, only to deal with the fallout in an optional dungeon, Tam Tara Hard Mode. After the dungeon, a ghost will randomly pop up in the three main cities, but only for a few seconds. The story finishes up in the Palace of the Dead deep dungeon.

    • @DroWarriorOfLight

      Wait! I think I may remember who you mentioned, let me check (...) Yes! I think I know now, I've been playing 14 recently, and I randomly decide to talk to that group of adventures every time I saw them, and I remember how suddenly they were fighting (in a very meta way, like how the healer was not doing the job properly) and how she carried the head of the one who died and creep everyone out lmao.
      I got so attached to them for no reason and got struck by tragedy, now I'm super excited to keep playing and finding them again as I forgot about it, thanks! lmao

    I'm afraid of Cie'th, especially when they first appear in Anima's chamber, surrounding Vanille and Hope. The music, the sound design, the raw fear from Hope. All great. I don't want to imagine what humans must feel once they turn into a crystalene husk.

    • @DroWarriorOfLight
      @DroWarriorOfLight  8 месяцев назад +2

      Omg, the Cie'th are such a good creepy stuff that surprises you, you'd think it's just them turning into monsters and that's it, but the creepy way they move as if are trying to resist is pretty brrrrrbrr, lmao, that's a great mention.
      I was thinking of adding Snow moment in LR where he turns into half a Cie'th because of that, but that Ranulph quest caught SO off guard

    Some enemies that are sort of creepy:
    -Nox Suzaku, a triheaded demon in a dark cloud that eats souls (Type 0, optional boss)
    -Cuchulainn, a green creepy Esper with similar backstory to Ardyn's
    -Darkseer, a mystical being in Pharos that controls it's Guardians
    -Zalera, the Death Seraph with a shamaness on his side ( 3 secret bosses from Zodiac Age/12)
    -every Cie'th in the 13 trilogy and Type 0 (these creatures at Yudecca)
    -Anima (X)
    And well, XV has a lot in general. Even optional ones, for example Melusine is noteworthy. Ayakashi's hunt name is a reference to Glauca killing Regis, so that leaves space for speculation.
    Anyways, interesting topic 👍

      Certainly, there's some very interesting looking stuff I thought about collecting, but I feel that the category "enemies who are creepy as heck" lack some sort of context or longer moment to talk to, so maybe I'll consider them for their own thing

    Just today I got suggested some FFXV videos and they reminded me how creepy and sad af was to see Ravus half-infected like that, the guy had it quite rough in that game, and that moment was oof, what I imagine how the FF4 chimeras would look/act/feel in a modern game.

    Thinking on it now, I do remember these moments that were unnerving in the stories. If square really wanted to with a main entrance. They can go a full horror entrance to delve into the casts as well as show much more the villain in a new brightly lite scenario

      I think they certainly can and I would be down for more horror focus, it seems they like to add these out of nowhere in places most of the time but not make that the main focus, and I honestly wouldn't mind a main antagonist that gives you that horror vibes from the start

    Sadly with Ardyn, we didn't get any of that backstory until Episode Ardyn. We get a tiny bit in Kingsglaive, but if your playing the base game he comes off as the worst FF Villain, or second worst if we are including Vayne.

    • @Vayne_Solidor
      @Vayne_Solidor 8 месяцев назад +3

      Well that is pure nonsense.
      Ardyn, even without his backstory, is a very enjoyable antagonist thanks to his sarcasm and overall mannerism. It's just fun to watch and listen to him. He was one of the best antagonists I have ever seen...way before Episode Ardyn was there. He is 100 times more interesting and fun than Chaos, Mateus, Exdeath, Ultimecia...
      Vayne is also quite interesting and has a high talent of political speech. His goal he shares with Cid and Venat are also highly reasonable. Freedom for mankind. He is not the usual "villain".
      The weaker antagonists are those in early FF. They have barely any character or motifs except being evil for the sake of it, or thirst for power. The first one with more depth was Sephiroth,since he turned mad.
      Especially the antagonists of FF1-5 are really basic and not that interesting.

    • @ivenstorm
      @ivenstorm 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Vayne_Solidor It isn't nonsense. In the launch version of the game, and not the versions that followed, Ardyn had barely any backstory outside of Kingsglaive, and barely appeared in game. It wasn't until the rereleases that they fixed that. So all of that witty banter that you love, doesn't exist in the non-patched launch version of 15.
      Without knowing anything about Kingsglaive, the main villain slowly builds to be Ravus, as he gets the most screentime. Hell, without watching Kingsglaive you miss out on the importance of 2 other characters that are played out to be passing side characters in 15. I digress, this isn't a topic about how bad 15 was.
      Vayne at the start of 12 is amazing. The issue is that he needed more screentime and that's a constant issue in 12. Many characters needed more screentime to build them up as characters. So while Galbranth is a great villain, the man pulling his strings isn't nearly as showcased.

    • @Vayne_Solidor
      @Vayne_Solidor 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@ivenstormThis isn't true though. Yes, most of Ardyn's backstory isn't found in the vanilla main story. HOWEVER. His character, the sarcasm,banter and mannerism I mentioned, was there from the start. The entertaining interactions between him and Noctis in chapters 1,4,7,9 and all the Niflheim parts were there from the beginning.
      Also, Ravus has much less screentime.
      Kingsglaive didn't show Ardyn as main antagonist for a reason. He was just a chancellor there. The big role he is going to play remained a secret in the movie. On purpose.
      More screentime needed? Agreed! But as a completionist I can say, 12 has so much stuff to discover in its world, so much great optional content and worldbuilding, that its story really feels like one chapter in this great world, so I am fine with that. Just wanted to add that....

    • @ivenstorm
      @ivenstorm 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Vayne_Solidor Then the two of us are remembering completely different experiences.
      Because I remember only interacting with him near Titan, then again near the seaside village, and then towards the end. I'm obviously missing 1 or 2 instances, as it was nearly 7 years ago. Meanwhile I remember Ravus acting like a prick multiple times throughout the game.
      The point is that you shouldn't need to root around to get the main villain to be relevant. They tried that with Necron in 9 and it failed miserably. They had the perfect end villain in Kuja, and said surprise here's the real villain from out of nowhere, something FF games have a habit of doing in nearly every iteration.

    • @Vayne_Solidor
      @Vayne_Solidor 8 месяцев назад

      @@ivenstormYou forgot tons of scenes with Ardyn then.
      At Galdin. In Lestallum. After Noctis defeated Titan. In a base to stop Ravus from further attacking Noctis.At Steyliff Grove to let them find Mythril. In Altissia. Two times in the train. In Zegnautus Keep for a long time.
      He has way more screentime than Ravus, and way more scenes than those you named. And Ravus actually profitted more from the Royal version but still has less.
