    Did you need a endangered wildlife permit to purchase your tortoise in your state or is that specifically for people you try to breed them?

      Hi Keith! We got ours from Tortoise Town for $1000. There was a long waitlist and our tortoise took about six months to arrive - however the wait was worth it though!

    i find it impossible to ship a living being in a box. shame on you!!

    • @katelynyu3206
      @katelynyu3206  3 года назад +2

      Hi Rudi, if you're concerned about the ethics of shipping animals - many shipping companies only allow overnight/next day shipping with certain guidelines on how to ship the animal humanely. I received my tortoise from Tortoise Town, which is a family-owned business that only ships overnight and they check the weather in both sending and receiving locations for additional safety. My tortoise was protected in insulation, padding and a cold pack to ensure its safety during transportation.
      The business that I bought my tortoise from has a page on the ethics and safety of shipping live animals: www.tortoisetown.com/shipping/

      Rudi M, As a Tortoise care giver for 16 years now, I have had a great deal of involvement with various tortoises and their care. Katelyn response to you is valid. It may seem cruel but when done exactly as she points out it is very safe.

    • @6RudiBozen
      @6RudiBozen 3 года назад

      @@Reason1717 Do you want to be locked in a dark box? to be thrown around believing that you are about to die. certainly not and you are a person who can grasp what is happening. I do not think so, sorry. for me this method is cruel and i would not expose any living being to it.

    • @Reason1717
      @Reason1717 3 года назад +2

      @@6RudiBozen , I completely get and understand your point of view. And you are correct. What I am saying is two fold: 1- This is the most humane way that is available. 2- I am sure Ms. Yu shares your caring for the Tortoise's well being too. So Rudi we do agree , I am only pointing out of the many ways they ship live animals (most are completely cruel) this is the best of a BAD situation. For the record your stance on "living beings" is at it's core one we as human's should take to heart.
