BMW Crystal Control Start Button Retrofit DIY - How To Replace Start Button On BMW F10 | BOND Garage

I've been a fan of the BMW Crystal Controls since they debuted in the X7 and been considering this mini mod since most of the coated BMW buttons will start to chip over time. The crystal style is my choice of look. There are plenty other colors on the market. Important is that those won't wear as the OE buttons will and you get a slightly different look.
In this video I'll demonstrate the installation of the Engine Start/Stop button and share my opinion on this crystal button. There are definitely things I'd rather have a little different but for less than $5 I shouldn't be too picky.

For the installation you'll need a T20 torx and 2 small screw drivers or picks to wedge out the button cover. Will take you less than 10 minutes overall.
Apparently, the putty needs to set for about 15 minutes. If anyone tried and can confirm this, that would be great.

man i tried all kind of ways. wouldn't budge tho. maybe my putty was poor quality or my button gave me a hard time. if you get it out with the putty that's great and saves time. I had to use the more complex route but hope it helps others if their putty wont work either. And i generally dont wear gloves working on interiors. just keep my hands clean to not get anything dirty.

Bro made a 15 second job take an Hr. I never seen someone try so hard to not make the putty work lol. U have to actually put it on and pull it not peel it off lol.

tried many times. learned form another comment that it takes 15 minutes for the putty to set. let's just see this as a failsafe in case the putty doesn't work or you don't have one. this way took longer but works guaranteed 😉
