@JustStoked - It was a sub-woofer he uses on small stages so he can have more bass. He said it was not so much for the audience, but for his own feel--he said he dug having the boom at his feet.
@Just Stoked - The blue light is something for Stephen's aethstetic preference built within the cab--more intense the signal from the guitar, the blue light gets more intense.
Why is everybody talking about how stoned he looks and not what an amazing guitarist he is and how he talks about his gear? I love listening to Stef talking about his gear.
Steph is a great and underrated guitar player. What he does is done very well. Great research for new sounds (sometimes soundscapes), not a shredder, but a shredder is not a better guitarist. Anyway, in this intvw looks like "Deft-stoned"!!! ;)
@81Knucklehead His rig is much more simplified now. Currently, he uses a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx processor, which basically has all his effects and amp models stored into one unit. He doesn't use Marshall cabs anymore either, he goes straight from the AxeFx into the PA.
@greenMXR Let me add that all the current guitars have an extra light string, for example the Adrenaline one is, from low to high, E A D G B E E. He did this because he heard that Wes Borland, from Limp Bizkit used that in its 7-string Ibanez, ir order to keep the "feel" of a seven string neck. The same happens with Around the fur (C# G# C# F# A# D# D#) and White Pony (C G C F A D D). My main complain is WHERE THE HELL ARE ALL HIS COOL 6-STRING GUITARS??? I WANT SOME OF THEM :(
@JunyaYashiki Its a Matamp Green mate, it looks like an Orange because Matamp used to actually make the Orange amps for a while, check em out, theyve been going about 60 years! ;-)
Green amps are great, they’re like old vintage Orange amps. Matt Matthias designed the original Orange and Matamps, and then after working with those two made Greens.
Boss gt 1 and a couple 4x12's will do the job. Or a kemper but thats a little pricy. If you're on a budget just get a boss gt 1 or the zoom thing that i dont know the name of and then a 4x12 or 2 and maybe a couple pedals.
I'm a Deftones fan, and I dig what Carpenter does on guitar but why he needs all that gear in his rig is beyond me. He should listen to some live playback of his shows and realise you hear *maybe* about a 3rd of that pedalboard in their set. So much overkill going on in his rig....I'm really suprised he wants all of that live.
I got used to 7-String and don't really want to go back. You can get a 7 and try to get used to it. the have thicker necks and thicker tone than a 6-string imo. Play some 7s and make your choice.... And do not complain about any goods you did not or do not buy. In terms of production models companies have their own rules. Try guitars that are similar or even the same. Looks are secondary on an instrument.
Just gotta say, I know this is old but goddamn, some of these videos I watch its like a dude whos never filmed with parkinsons filming this shit. But on a funny note Stef stoned as fuck.
Seems like a really complicated rig to set up and program. He must do a lot of tap-dancing on those pedalboards during a gig. Those 8-string guitars must clash like hell with the bass, because that low F# string ventures into bass guitar territory.
Nah man- in my experience- being stoned is better than drinking or anything else on the road. Drink and stuff strings you out until you reach a dead stop. Weed is not as severe unless you do it to the point of apathy- then you got problems.
Deftones: The most beautiful Metal music you will ever hear and experience.
thats Tool but close second
@@ionlarry-uz3yl Tool is tremendous as well 👍
We need an updated rig rundown with Stef 🤘😎🤘
I hope they do another rig rundown with Stephen and show off his guitars a bit more and maybe show Sergio and Chino's rig
@JustStoked - It was a sub-woofer he uses on small stages so he can have more bass. He said it was not so much for the audience, but for his own feel--he said he dug having the boom at his feet.
They really need to start asking what speakers are in the cabs. Massively important.
All those Marlboro's + All those guitars and the equipment = Heaven...
It's cause Steftones be def stoned, or whatever... some people think too much about the green stuff that's all
Steph is a great and underrated guitar player. What he does is done very well. Great research for new sounds (sometimes soundscapes), not a shredder, but a shredder is not a better guitarist.
Anyway, in this intvw looks like "Deft-stoned"!!! ;)
Where's the first part of this video (where Stephen and his road crew got Jordan blazed)?!
I want it all!!!
Anyone know what Marshall he uses? I think it’s a 1960 B but idk if it’s 900 series or 800. I’m trynna get something close to his sound
i want all his guitars!! he has a sick ass collection.
@81Knucklehead His rig is much more simplified now. Currently, he uses a Fractal Audio Axe-Fx processor, which basically has all his effects and amp models stored into one unit. He doesn't use Marshall cabs anymore either, he goes straight from the AxeFx into the PA.

I love his guitars. I need to buy one.
Him and mike mushok from staind should collaborate because they are the masters off multiple tunings.... That would be so dooe
they have such a heavy guitar sound it's amazing
3:50
jesus, steph. worried about running out of smokes?
SURREAL AND COOL!
Best description ever!!!
pure greatness, my hero...
I've been doing some research, and that Green amp is for Chino.
Man those guitars are fucking TANKS.
Great video.
@almudjk I think it's "green".
He stopped using his 6-strings a long time ago. Pretty much for the reason you explained he tunes his 7-strings the way he does, for the "feel."
@JunyaYashiki it's from the brand 'matamp'
I know it's awesome!
@JunyaYashiki electric amps, they make a few colors like black purple and white and stuff. Not affiliated with Orange, but still pretty awesome.
@premierguitar uh no, that blue light comes stock with those ISP subs, definatley not custom.
I would love to see a chino moreno rig rundown
@JunyaYashiki
Its a Matamp Green mate, it looks like an Orange because Matamp used to actually make the Orange amps for a while, check em out, theyve been going about 60 years! ;-)
literally lol'd really loud when i saw that "Green" amp in the back
Green amps are great, they’re like old vintage Orange amps. Matt Matthias designed the original Orange and Matamps, and then after working with those two made Greens.
@JunyaYashiki it's a matamp custom amplifier.
So if you get guitar rig, does that mean you can stop buying tons of pedals? You still need a head and amp, AND the computer? Does anybody know?
Guitar Rig is kind of outdated at this point. Axe FX is the new thing, and it's rather pricey.
Boss gt 1 and a couple 4x12's will do the job. Or a kemper but thats a little pricy. If you're on a budget just get a boss gt 1 or the zoom thing that i dont know the name of and then a 4x12 or 2 and maybe a couple pedals.
I want to know about that Louis Vutton seven string....where can I get that?
V30's or T75 in his marshall cabs ?
@aircarter15 yeah, but i mean he is with deftones and is in his guitar rig
who makes does patch cabels?
Is it just me, or does this Jordan guy seem a but more happy by the end of the video??
Jordan blatantly blazed up with Stef haha
Is that Shure SM57 mickes?
Is the SG and Strat Chino's? And how is he playing anything off of the first 3 records. He has no 6 strings (provided the SG and Strat are Chino's)
Who got the pedal list? :)))
woah whats that green amp in the back??!? its like an orange amp but... ITS GREEN!!!
This Rig needs like 6 month updates because it's completely Different now :)
Stef really really loves da ganja lol i wish i can have one of his guitars for real
@JunyaYashiki Ditto! Im curious too
Native Instruments is the shit, ESP as well, marshall & orange...so dope
always
@3:38 Haha hes just got his Marlbough red sitting with dope ass guitars. Stef ftw
anyone notice it said "fuzz fatery"?
@JunyaYashiki it says greed. probably an orange sister company
He got it custom made by ESP no doubt.
Anybody have his GuitarRig preset? haha
His name is stephen not stefan
its pronounced "Stefen" though.
Steven
And don't forget the Marlboro Reds.
@JunyaYashiki
I KNOW!!!!1!!1
I'm a Deftones fan, and I dig what Carpenter does on guitar but why he needs all that gear in his rig is beyond me. i think they are all discontinued,you'll have to go on ebay or something to get one.
More probing questions would've been nice
@JunyaYashiki Matamp green amp!!!
@almudjk GREEN... as the color :)
why the hell does he has a bass octaver??
I got used to 7-String and don't really want to go back. You can get a 7 and try to get used to it. the have thicker necks and thicker tone than a 6-string imo.

just what the f do u do with the 7th string?
@JunyaYashiki google 'matamp green'...
Just gotta say, I know this is old but goddamn, some of these videos I watch its like a dude whos never filmed with parkinsons filming this shit. But on a funny note Stef stoned as fuck.
hahaha i saw a hidden but critical part of his rig... the joint stash, check it at 3:50 those packs of malboros? filled with weed/bacoo joints
same, Stephen goes now with 8, guess 9 in a way.. imo 8,9 is way too low.. 7 was cooler so was six.
He forgot to mention the marlboro cigarettes
those are very important I couldnt do a gig without my smokes
@ 1:04
Green matamp!
he's fuggen STONED off his ass
The extra string, its one louder, innit? So when he needs that extra push over the cliff...eight strings, exactly!!
@6672rock Check out Meshuggah.
He looks like Kevin Nash.
Seems like a really complicated rig to set up and program. He must do a lot of tap-dancing on those pedalboards during a gig. Those 8-string guitars must clash like hell with the bass, because that low F# string ventures into bass guitar territory.
He is so stoned :D
I love Deftones and Steph, but this dude needs a hug and a therapist. GRUMPY DUDE!!!
Nah man- in my experience- being stoned is better than drinking or anything else on the road. Drink and stuff strings you out until you reach a dead stop. Weed is not as severe unless you do it to the point of apathy- then you got problems.
He is MOST likely more stoned than a mountain. It is not uncommon for this guy. So no. He is not ''exhausted''.
guitar rig 3 xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
HA! Screw Stephen's gear, let me hear about that Green Matamp in the back.
then he got axe fx
Totally Baked LOL........
hhhhhiiiiiiiigggghhhhhhhh..... yeah.......
I think he need more lowwwww hahaha XD
god damn he's stoned as shit
I want them to ask him how wide he can open his eyes.
