- “Towards Your Shore” is a work specially commissioned by Laguna Dance Festival, which premiered virtually at the Laguna Dance Winter Festival 2020.
As dancers and choreographers in the current circumstances, we have simply converted many natural spaces into our own theatrical stages.
In the case of filming this choreographic work, and having to choose one of the most beautiful places in Laguna Beach, California, US, to dance it; without a doubt it was the beauty of this particular beach, which reminded me of my own in Cuba and I immediately fell in love with it. Then the inspiration arose and became the vision and nostalgia of the long wait for that lover who is on the other side of the sea and who has not yet arrived. With my bata de cola and my fan, I continued dancing until sunset so that my message of love would reach all the way to his shore.
The chosen flamenco style could be none other than a Flamenco Guajira, due to its essence, both Cuban and Spanish; a mixture that permeates all of my creations.
The filming represented a huge and wonderful challenge for me since it is the first time that I have danced this way on a beach, on the sand, with my bare feet.

“Towards your shore” (“Hacia tu orilla”) es un trabajo “Comisionado por Laguna Dance Festival" y estrenado de forma virtual en el Laguna Dance Winter Festival 2020”.
Los bailarines y coreógrafos, en las circunstancias actuales, hemos convertido muchos espacios naturales en espacios teatrales.
En el caso del rodaje de esta obra coreográfica, y teniendo que escoger uno de los hermosos lugares de Laguna Beach, California, US, para danzar esta pieza; sin lugar a dudas fue la belleza de su playa, la cual me recordó a las mías en mi Cuba, la que me enamoró inmediatamente. Entonces la inspiración vino sola y se convirtió en la ilusión y nostalgia de la larga espera de ese amante que está del otro lado de la orilla y que aún no llega. Tomé mi bata de cola y mi abanico y seguí bailando hasta el atardecer para que mi mensaje de amor llegara hasta su orilla.
El palo flamenco escogido no podía ser otro que una Guajira Flamenca, por su esencia tanto cubana como española; mixtura que baña toda mi creación.
La filmación de la obra representó un enorme y maravilloso reto para mí puesto que es la primera vez que bailo en una playa, sobre la arena, con mis pies desnudos.
