As others are saying, this is a fine list of games to play on the 3DS, but most if not all of the games are available on cartridge, and will continue to be available after the eshops close. What we need is for the detectives at Triple Jump to delve into the depths of the eshop-exclusive games and let us know what diamonds are available in that rough. Get on it, TJ Gang!
Also many 3DS games have DLC that will no longer be available. And you have to own the game to even be able to purchase it.
Kirby epic yarn has doubled price over last two months as well as others. Yokai watch 3 is physical and cost over 300$ only 40$ on eshop.
@@mattuna3985 Yeah, there are definitely some games that have gone off the rails for the physical copies. And somebody mentioned the eshop being a good place to get all those Pokémon games that are super expensive for physical. Totally true. I just want Triple Jump to dig through the muck of eshop exclusives for some hidden gems… so I don’t have to do it myself. :D
That was a much nicer way of pointing out that this is litterally just a "top 10 3ds games list" then what I had planned.
true but still easier to get via the online store for those of us outside game-civilized countries
It's unbelievable that the 3DS is 11 Years Old now, i'll always remember when i got the original Aqua Blue 3DS in 2011, i was in the hospital at the time, i had to have an operation because my left leg turned in when i walked and i remember saying to my brother that i would love to have a 3DS so when my brother and father surprised me with one in the hospital, i had the biggest beaming smile on my face like you wouldn't believe :)
Same.. :(
cap
Its a nice list but I was expecting it to be a list of download only exclusives, almost all of these games (minus fire emblem's dlc) have physcial release's though.
Them having physical releases kind of makes their removal not as big a deal (though still a shame)
Prices for the physical releases are gonna go way up once the eshop closes though
I was thinking the same thing.
Yeah same, really should have been a list of stuff that’s properly going to vanish (legally).
@@shortsrus They already have in a lot of cases. SMT IV, for example, goes for double retail price, minimum. And good luck getting your hands on Dragon Quest VII or VIII. Even if you prefer physical, this is definitely the time to get over that and just buy some stuff digitally, otherwise (literally) pay for it later. Scalpers and resellers suck.
what should i get?
Hard to believe that my son was born like a year before the 3DS came out. I still have my New 3DS that I got in 2013 (I think) and he's fascinated every time he sees it. Breaks my heart that the eshop is closing down. One more bookmark in the tome of "making certain games completely unavailable".
actually there's a way you can get any games you want
Jack Sparrow: "Allow me to introduce myself!"
Hey you, yes you!
If you're a Fire Emblem fan, don't forget to also check out Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows Of Valentia! It's a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden, the sequel to the first-ever Fire Emblem game in Japan on the NES.
The remake has an amazing revamped story, music, and characters. It's my favourite Fire Emblem game and even my favourite game on the 3DS, incredibly underrated and really deserves more love!
Honorable mention, virtual console Pokémon games.
The 3DS eShop exclusive games I’d highly recommend the most are WayForward’s underrated classics, such as Mighty Flip Champs and Mighty Milky Way! If you love Shantae or Mighty Switch Force, then you’ll most likely love these games as well! So better snatch em up quick before it’s too late!
You'll still be able to get a number of these physically but you may have to worry about a future rise in price.
Thanks for the list guys! Gonna pick up Kirby’s extra epic yarn before the shop closes
Great list, although personally I would've mentioned the Donkey Kong Country Returns 3DS port on there for being the best way to play one of the best 2D Platformers.
The really important thing to note is this: credit card payment support ends on May 23rd, 2022, and Nintendo eShop cards cease to redeem from August 29th, 2022. So even though the eShop will remain open for a year, you won't be able to add money to your account there for very long anymore.
Pokemon fans must get Pokemon Bank since it is the only way to transfer Pokemon from 3DS games to Pokemon Home. It will become free to use at some point and the Pokemon Bank servers will remain online after the eShop closes, although they haven't said for how long. But you must get the app itself when the eShop still exists.
I also read that you must have Pokemon Transporter, or Poke Transporter, to transfer Pokemon from older games but I can't find it in the eShop and some others had the same problem. If anyone knows what's the deal with that, I'd like to know.
Unfortunately the poke transporter app only becomes available to download after you buy a pass or activate your trial pass
I dunno about US, but where I live, we can't use credit at all.
HONRABLE MENTION: KORG DSN-12 & KORG M01D. Not games per se but music production workstations based on the KORG MS-10 & KORG M1 hardware synthesizers.
I can’t find another game as great as link between worlds, thanks for covering that one! Excellent reviews.
I can't recommend Link Between Worlds enough. It's in my top five favorite Zelda games ever.
I only really like 2D Zeldas, so this is in my top 3. Best game on 3DS imo
It’s in your top 5 out of 19 titles?! Must be great :D
@@reece3163 Absolutely! The only titles I haven't played are Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. The LbwW mechanic of merging into walls as a painting is amazingly fun and the puzzles around it are REALLY well done. Now that it's only $20 as a Nintendo Select it's a no-brainer pick up for sure.
I’m happy to have a physical copy of this game 🙏
I'am fully physical but for interested Europeans, I would suggest going for Shin Megami Tensei IV (physical edition only in the US whilst the 3DS is not Region-Free)
10:15 Super Mario 3D land. After saving peach in the main storyline, a whole second game gets unlock! you get new items, play as luigi, and go against Bones Bowser!
Important thing about Fire Emblem Fates is that while it's possible to buy physical versions of the Birthright and Conquest routes, the third neutral route was released only as DLC with the exception of the special edition that is insanely expensive now; essentially it will be impossible to purchase all three routes soon unless you sell a kidney to get the special edition secondhand.
For anyone who cares, here's a few personal recommendations that are exclusive to the 3DS eShop:
-The Dillon's Rolling Western trilogy (third game released physically in Japan and Europe)
-Sakura Samurai
-The Pushmo/Pullblox trilogy
-HarmoKnight
-Pocket Card Jockey
-Various Kirby spin-offs (Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe and Kirby's Blowout Blast being probably the most notable ones)
-The BoxBoy games
-Gotta Protectors
-Level-5's Guild series (seven smaller games from different industry veterans with Liberation Maiden and Attack of the Friday Monsters being probably the best of the group)
-Numerous DSiWare games (Dark Void Zero, Dragon Quest Wars, Mighty Flip Champs, Mighty Milky Way, and X-Scape to name a few)
-Summer Carnival '92 Recca and The Mysterious Murasame Castle (neither game has gotten any sort of official re-release outside of Japan other than these 3DS ports)
On top of many games only being Eshop exclusive. Many games have DLC/patches that will also be lost.
Wish I could find the song they use in this video. Helps me focus at work.
As much as I love you guys talking about the 3DS, shouldn't this be about eShop exclusives? Idk what to look for on there
What is the background music at 4:48?
I can still buy physical copies of FE awakening and kid icarus right?
Kirby’s Epic Yarn was such an eat (no pun intended), so I can only imagine the port is just as perfect
3:26 Especially with Fates because you have to play until your crossroad of choice before you're even allowed to buy the other paths because reasons.
I hate when they do stuff like that. You should be able to buy everything from the start…
@@GabMacedoo In this case at least it has a feasible reason within the story.
My pick is 7th Dragon III Code: VFD, a great RPG and one of if not SEGA's best game.
I would honestly pick Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth over Persona Q: Shadows of the Labyrinth because not only does it have both Persona 3 protagonists rather than just the male (Persona Q should've let you picked between them), Persona Q2 was also one of the final games released physically for the console, so it might be harder to find.
The Zero Escape series are the best games on the 3DS. Not sure if they're still being sold on the eShop, though.
5:43 how come persona q 2 isn't on there I've heard it's better yhe the original?
This should really have been dedicated solely to download exclusives. Games with a physical release, while they might get harder to acquire legitimately, aren't going to become impossible to obtain legally in the same way games like Pushmo/Pullblox, Liberation Maiden or the 3D Classics line will be.
Not that I don't like the list of something similar, great 3DS games here, but most, if not ALL of these titles are gonna still be available (and still are) to purchase physically. Would have been better a list of Download games only that truly are gonna be lost forever to history when the Store closes down. Hope you take this feedback (since I'm not the only one pointing this out) for the Wii U video.
Yes, a lot of these have cartridge you can second hand HOWEVER I do recommend that if you have a cartridge of one of the Fates game, to buy the discounted other route AND revelations. I could be wrong but I think Revelations is only available through eShop download…! It seemed the video didn’t make that clear enough!
Here's my list:
Kirby's Adventure 3D Classic
Zelda Oracles of Ages and Seasons
Sonic Triple Trouble
Super Mario Bros 3
Metal Gear Solid 3 (there's a demo you can download too)
Shin Megami Tensei IV and Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor 1 and 2
and Soul Hacker.
And for those who have NEW Nintendo 3DS:
Donkey Kong Country Trilogy
Super Metroid
Super Mario World
Earthbound (your last chance to actually own it)
No love for Style Savvy 3 being a download-only game? Tisk tisk. Style Savvy rules and needs more love.
So true
I keep getting the error 007-2001 when I try to open my 3ds that I got online. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm desperate🙏
What are some must have eshop exclusive games people recommend?
Wait…you guys are like me so how do you know this stuff if WE lost access to the shop years ago?😅
Everyone saying that physical copy is available. Good luck paying $200 for dragon quest 8 lmao
now, officially I cannot endorse piracy or illegal emulation…
but off the record, video game preservation is a little more important over the “moral dilemma” of emulating a video game a company deems so unimportant to keep around that they’d just- let it fade into the ether.
remember, those enormous corporate entities wont miss what little money you’d have given them anyway ;)
Video game 'preservation' also has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not you're personally able to buy or even play it. 'Preservation' literally just means that it's saved somewhere that isn't at significant risk of being destroyed or otherwise lost. I think the term you're looking for is 'accessible', not 'preservation'.
On and off the record, you need to go read a book before you comment again. I know you're just copying and pasting someone elses comment you seen on another post. But, again, On and off the record that's not what video game preservation means like at all. So next time you try to make a comment you think you will get alot of likes on make sure you make sense little guy
@@ramrodbldm9876 what
@@qactustick not really? i mean preservation. as in, if it isn't ripped and put online, it will not be accessible, nor preserved. it'll just be gone. all we'll have is like, maybe some clips online or whatever. also, I'm not just saying you have to emulate something, if you want to buy it go right ahead. more power to you.
@@yosupitsvic7612 Again, you're misusing the term 'preservation'. If Nintendo or any other developer or publisher keeps source code in a 'vault' somewhere that the public like us can't access, that's still considered 'preserved' because it still exists somewhere. It doesn't have to be freely available on the internet (EDIT: or even available for sale) to meet that definition.
Many of these have physical versions and aren't reliant on the E shop
A lot of these are going to be expensive later on.
@@Kohaku233 true, but they'll still be available
Speaking about Shin Megami Tensei... Other games that will disappear really soon there are:
Strange Journey Redux
IV Apocalypse
Soul Hackers (which is awfully cheap, so take a chance).
Also Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology will be gone too, so don't miss out on that too
The Atlus games just went on sale again.
@@julianx2rl Only in NA though. I live on the EU-side of things
I recommend Radiant history, its a 3ds remake of the ds original, an amazing underrated game yet to find another game with such a good story.
Ashton list, Ben list, Ashton list...
... Tiny Peter isn't pulling his own tiny weight!
since this is basically games available physically ( Rhythm Heaven Paradise being the only one I know is digital only, at least in the US )...
the Dillon games
the Boxboy games
HarmoKnight
Sakura Samurai
Pocket Card Jockey
the Pushmo/Pullblox games
ANY virtual console games that pique your interest, with particular note for Mysterious Murasame Castle
Ketzal's Corridors
Rusty's Real Deal Baseball ( make sure you go through the game in time as well )
X-Scape
the Art Style games
Style Savvy: Fashion Forward & Styling Star ( at least 1 if not both digital only in the US )
Pokemon Battle Trozei
3D Classics Kirby's Adventure, Kid Icarus and Excitebike
Mini Mario & Friends amiibo Challenge
Peach likes to be kidnapped by Bowser, then saved by Mario. It's her kink.
fun video
Do you guys not know that you can still buy the games on eBay I know they’re expensive but it’s worth it at least
Rythm heaven paradise megamix
Fire emblem awakening/ fates
Metroid: Samus returns
Kirby extra epic yarn
Persona Q: shadow of the labyrinth
Zelda: a link between worlds
Kid icarus uprising
Shine megami IV
Super Mario 3D land
Luigi's mansion 1/2
Hope this helps!
Lorule/ Hyrule - Hilda/ Zelda (as in the Sabrina Series)
7:42 Dammit! Oh C'mon?
I DID NOT REALIZE IT WAS SO SOON
Just another reason why physical media is so important.
Alternative title: 10 Video Games You Must Pirate After the 3DS eShop Closes
A big must on the 3DS would be Dragonball Fusions
Wanna say that I tried it out cause of you and maaaaaaan what a fun fucking game. So addictive and unique. I wish there were more games that are similar. If you know any please lemme know.
Also, the gameplay would work with so many other anime games I'd love to see this combat be done for one piece. Obviously minus the fusions part. The cinematic action is so cool man, thank you.
I thought this would be a list that didn’t include physical releases ;(
Some of these games they mentioned here are something I can get physically at a normal 3DS price at a local game store. Try again.
What an odd video, eshop closes soon, there's tons of exclusives and like... None were mentioned.
Or even games that's are just crazy priced that have physical releases like shantae or yokai watch 3, didn't get a listing either, but games you can find easily and pretty cheap like super Mario 3d land get on there?
That reminds me I gotta buy all the DLC for the Fire Emblem 3DS games.
Just be aware that if you’re gonna get every single dlc for both Awakening, Fates and Echoes, it’s gonna be pretty expensive
@@GabMacedoo
I know. 😭 I already have some of it, but I feel like I should get it still.
@@Paddy-if3nd Yeah, I feel you. I’m saying this because I literally just bought all DLC that was missing for me yesterday, too… My wallet hurts…
@@GabMacedoo
I hate that the store closing is even a thing. 😭
Weird that you picked Kirby over Yoshi for the yarn themed game.
They're both low-res versions of their console counterparts, but at least Yoshi gets the 3D treatment, Kirby really is just* a low-res version of the Wii game, and if it ever gets ported to Switch, it'll become outdated.
Not gonna lie, I was expecting more digital-only titles; not a list of games I could probably get used up at GameStop.
Honorable Mentions. These are all download only titles.
The three Dillon games
Pushmo
Crushmo
3D Classics: Kirby's Adventure
Mighty Flip Champs!
Mighty Milky Way
HarmoKnight
Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move
Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe
Kirby's Blowout Blast
Tank Troopers
Dr. Mario Miracle Cure
Sakura Samurai
Rhythm Paradise was titled Rhythm Heaven in the states, FYI.
Um ok😅
@@gracekim25 I say that because when I tried to search for it nothing came up until I just searched for "rhythm" by itself.
You shouldn't include games that have received physical ports. I was hoping for a list of 3DS e-shop exclusive titles. I can play FE Fates and FE Awakening any time on physical cartridge.
Big time updoot for poutine! 🇨🇦
Yay!
No one is mentioning Yo-Kai Watch games…
And now I want a poutine
*10 Video Games You Must Pirate After the 3DS eShop Closes
This is why pirating old Nintendo games is morally viable to play on your PC
RPMmix: check
Fire Emblem: no way, too many to expensive y too complex
Metroid SR :check( phisycal version)
Kirby Extra Epic Yarn:No, is basically Yoshi Wolly World and alredy have that
Persona Q: No, because the stingy Atlus did not put offers in the closing
The Pokémon games should be there too
The fact you had SMT IV ❤
This is why I stopped buying games. Companies just don't care and kill games all the time.
My pick is Rhythm Heaven MegaMix
Disappointing list. I was hoping for something other than the most popular titles.
I was more interested in E-Shop exclusives, but whatever.
The puns are great, don't fire the writer.
Nintendo Pocket Football Club is my choice
Shadows of valentia.
Ooooooo, the freshest of fresh content.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn on Wii is the better way to play the game if anyone is interested
10 3DS Games You Should Play On Steam Deck Using Citra at Your Leisure Disregarding the eShop Closure Date :)
Recommending an SMT to first time rpg players is one of the worst ideas I've ever heard.
i mean i know its not "technically" an SMT game series by being a spinoff, but just about any persona game can be easily recommended to newbies, and while they have rather different styles of gameplay, Persona can easily give you enough knowledge to move on, considering enemies are taken from the same mythologies, have near identical movesets--disregarding bosses--and both games feature more personal stories. a huge thing that sparked my own interest for SMT was Persona 4, even just seeing like the same assets used for enemies and knowing that Bufu is an ice attack really helps
@@quinnmarchese6313 I wouldn't recommend Q and I damn sure recommend starting with a mainline SMT.
@@dogkingify exactly the same take i hear most SMT guys give out, but i got along just fine starting with Persona 4 and advancing.
@@quinnmarchese6313 Persona and Mainline SMT are two comepletely different scales of difficulty. Persona properly eases you in. SMT doesn't tell you shit. I would know I've played two mainline games and Digital Devil Saga
@@dogkingify lmao, i dont really give a fuck how many SMT games youve played or how different they are to persona. I literally said they aren't the same in my first comment, all im tryna say is that the shared demon lore and move sets can go a long way with helping people get into SMT. _you_ are the reason people dont get into SMT, you think you are above listening to and gatekeep others.
The lack of download exclusive eshop titles on this list should tell you about the quality of most of them.
you shouldnt buy any of these games what you should be doing is modding your console its very easy and theres a whole discord server to help you if u get stuck
Shame, but, we'll see these titles again, on a little "retro" box, for £150, only a set number will be released, scalpers will nobble the majority of them and to get one either at all or on and around release date, you'll have fork out the equivalent of a Russian oligarch yacht... Or more! :/
Tis how it is written nowadays!
Come on boyos (and girlo) most of these games are available physically.
Ok why do you feel the need to spoil story bits? If I was subscribed I would've unsubscribed!
Not nice to joke about firing the writer if you weren't the one writing it, then it's just punching down :(
I think this is the first time I’ve heard someone say fates is good. The gameplay is fantastic, but fuck me, the story is absolute dog shit
Yesss POUTINE!!!!!
This list seems kinda pointless whether eshop closes or not
….not Persona Q2? It’s much better
1:15 that joke doesn't work in the states
How? It’s a song thing🤣 eh you’re lost mate
@@gracekim25 I mean that it's not called rhythm paradise over here
@@markerikson7423 I think the context clue of them saying the name right before the joke *might* just help most people understand it...
The sad part is that the Froghurt was also cursed.
I mean most of these are available physically, so you can buy them used (or new old stock even) forever.
Also "alleged animal rights activists PETA" haha, got em.
Her voice is giving me thoughts of Harry Potter and Willy Wonka 😐
My arse you will never get these games again! A lot of these games are NOT eShop exclusive! Do your homework TripleJump and redo these lists properly before the eShop really does close down!
Shin megami tensei IV accesible for new players? Wtf? Did you even played the game 🤣 smt saga are some of the most difficult games for starters hahaha
I’m sorry but this list is really lazy someone literally just took a look at Wikipedia for the best 3DS games. Pretty much all of these are available on cartridge. It would’ve been better to have a list of downloadable only titles.
Freaking Nintendo, man!
Literally just mod your 3DS, not only will you be able to play all the games listed in the video for FREE, you will get so much more out of your 3DS by doing so. Trust me, you won’t regret it! (Still falls short compared to the PS Vita though n terms of modding capabilities and homebrew support)
