To clarify Taunt for Nightfeather, it is a way to bring an enemy with you when Nightfeather taunts. Great if enemies are grouped up so you can draw one out then increase your odds of critting with future attacks such as Priercing Strike. Also the upgraded version was increase to a range of one. Awesome video! Thanks!
Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. I couldn’t for the life of me think of why you would want to bring enemies close to you but now I understand what the value of that is. Thanks again. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great video, we just played through the combat and exploration tutorials last night but it confirmed we were doing things right as we have never played a game like this or D&D before. Also thanks to the guy who clarified the nightfeather ability.
In the case of rolling for advantage/disadvantage: you roll which ever die as a pair and choose the high/lower die depending on advantage/disadvantage…..great video breaking down the game play, you’re right, it’s always best to visualize
I found a mistake... 34:41 you said you had rolled a 9 on the second roll... It was actually a 6 - look at the spot at the bottom of the number that says it's a 6 😛
Looks like you uploaded this at almost the same time I searched “how to play Bardsung”! Haha great coincidence! I was confused about that Taunt as well. After pausing the vid and looking closely, im thinking on hit, you can move and then choose to drag that enemy to your spot? I havent cracked the rulebook yet but thats what is making the most sense to me just based on what i think that iconography means! Thanks for the vid - really excited to delve into this game 🙌
Thanks for the video! Just curious, is the Nightfeather Taunt and Piercing Strike abilities supposed to inflict damage, even if you do not crit? The way I read the ability cards, a crit would be required to inflict a wound.
That is correct. If I inflicted wound on a hit I shouldn’t have. I just realized after playing the last encounter of this chapter that I haven’t been pushing on a Brute’s attack if they miss. Got to pay better attention to those attack profiles. Thanks for the comment!
This was a great play through, so thank you very much. I have a question though. It seems that each character has only two skills in the beginning until the end of the mission, and I am wondering if this gets boring in time? I know perhaps players can upgrade these skills but how does it work? Do we still pick two out of many, or do we get a third skill etc.? Do the upgraded skills add much variety? And thank again, this was a great video!
Thanks Evren! Glad you enjoyed it. There is actually a huge deck of skills for each hero that can be purchased with XP earned. As far as I understand it you use all the skills you purchase every encounter. These also can be leveled up with XP as well in the maintenance phase in between encounters. You can also purchase skills from other heroes as long as they aren’t designated as specific to a certain hero. This is denoted by a portrait of the hero on the cards. So really there are a ton of options to choose from! The two skills are only for the first tutorial. You add the third exploration skill in the next tutorial and then after that you start building what is essentially a hand of cards to use for each encounter in the campaign.
im a bit confused, (thats normal :) ) when you are descring the first 2 cards of the attack, taunt and piercing strike. Which one are you using for the first attack? its sounds like you are using both.
I may have. I think more than anything in this game I forgot to declare which ability I was using and just attacked and then looked at the attack profiles afterwards. Chalk it up to playing 3 campaigns of Journeys in Middle-Earth. I do know that I more often than not meant to be using Piercing Strike since Taunt confused me a bit.
is there any good information on the upgrading of equipment, it seems sort of lacking as to what is actually required to go from the starter gear to the 2nd level.

I just read the core rules today, and this video really helped make the information stick. Thanks for making it!
Happy to hear that. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the breakdown! Easy to follow along. Can't wait to get this one out
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, found no mistakes. Wish I´d seen that before I started. Recommended for Bardsung beginners!
Well thank you! I’m hoping that’s right. Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the kind words.

That sounds right! I’ve had a few folks mention that to me so I believe that’s how I’ll play it. Thank you for watching!

Great job.
Thank you
I love your explain
Thanks!
You have two (2) dice for Advantage... you should roll both at the same time... ) 34:35 :) :) :)
Good call!
Still a great Video! Have you integrated treasure and wound cards from the fables? Or are they really just used for the fables?
Haven’t even scratched the surface of the Fables stuff yet.

@@saveyourgame5578 Thanks a bunch, sounds great!
1 question; is using abilitys the only way to make and attack? I was wondering if is possible to simply use your weapon for a "simple" melee attack
That’s correct. No such action is available to players as far as I’m aware.
Anyone else finding that the effects icons are almost impossible to read because they are 3mm in size.
They are pretty small!
@@saveyourgame5578 I bought a x10 magnifying glass and I can read them now.

Not a part from what I’ve seen in the rule book. Maybe there’s more in the campaign book or story cards. I’m about to start so I can let you know.
Sure enough. I double checked and page 39 of the rule book tells you that the game will give you upgrades as you adventure in the campaign.
@@saveyourgame5578 Yes i had finished chapter 1 and part of chapter 4, and was just curious as i hadn't seen anything yet
