It is shameful that the ‘mother’ only puts her head in her hands as the verdict is being read out. There was absolutely no remorse or shame during this whole trial about what they both did to their son. I have a feeling this is sheer panic and concern for herself not for her husband. The irony that he will now be in a ‘box’, the difference being his will have a window and a toilet.

@@dianealarcon8304 It is very hard to agree with you, although I do.
It is such a horrible experience for children to be torn from their biological parents. And I believe that was why the plea was even offered at all.
So as much as I’m glad he rejected it.
I do feel for the other children.
And as much as I want them to stay with their mother.
I would only feel ok with that if the courts/social services is forever involved in their lives.
I’d love to say the father was the manipulator in the family. But this mother played a role as well.
This is such a tough case because I’m very aware of the deficiencies within the social services and the further damage it will do to all of the children.
Hopefully they have other relatives that maybe did not know of the abuse. And can take the children.
The boy will need years of counseling to fix the issues he already had and that their actions exacerbated.
So even with my feelings of happiness of this ruling..
It’s sad because these children’s struggles are just beginning and both these “adults” once again. Made everything more difficult.

They didn't make "bad parenting choices." A bad parenting choice is mistakenly grounding your kid for breaking something they didn't break, not imprisoning your kid in the most inhumane circumstances & treating them like a leper. When parents make a mistake, it's on us to correct it AND apologize if we've wronged our child. The Ferriters systematically abused their son, continuously made choices to extend and intensify their maltreatment of him, & just be terrible humans. I hope Tim & Tracy get to spend years inside a box of similar size and conditions so they can truly see what they put their child through.

The bedroom door had no lock but when we were sent there, we were not allowed out unless called to do chores... the other choice was to be locked outside to 'play' in both winter and summer. Many days nothing to eat but ketchup sandwiches ... no school lunch or milk money. Beaten w the belt or belt buckle. There were 4 of us and no one spoke about what went on in our house. I was responsible for my siblings and housework by age 8 made to quit school at the beginning of my senior yr bc my mother left w my half sister [ she was an alcoholic / had an affair ] and I had to go to work and give my paycheck to my father to supplement her lost income... my sister followed a yr later. I am now a retired Rn. We all turned out fine. Our neighbors could hear our screams and no one did a thing. I'm glad 70+ yrs later things are different for children and hope this guy gets what he deserves.

International adoption unfortunately attracts ppl who, for different reasons, wants a very vulnerable child, to "own". Ppl who adopt internationally only have a little more money than those who fosters. That s the only difference.
Ppl who adopt internationally often wants to be seen as "saviours" and the nonwhite child brings attention and makes them look humanitarian. Thats part of why. Its also the belief that they can "create" someone that will always obey and be inferior. Someone that fulfill their needs. They think its their right, and that cannot be questionned, they are entitled to do whatever to that child bc they paid for him. That is why Timmy does not understand what happened.

That guard knows the cameraman is there to film the convicted child abuser. One guard all of a sudden stands right in front of him on purpose. By what these 2 parent's were putting their son through is sometimes how/why kids turn into killers. This very way of punishment is horrible. The jury made a 100% the right verdict. His parents closed him off from his family, and even his siblings were use to their big brother being left out. His parents took every privilege away, including using the bathroom. They fed him just peanutbutter sandwiches for breakfast/ lunch, but at times, they would'nt give him food or water, and we all know how warm it can get in Florida. When ever either one of the parents communicated with him while he was in the box room was not helpful, neither one of them were interested in fixing the situation with him. Why did'nt they take him to a therapist, and then eventually to a family therapist? That to me would of been the sensible thing to do.There had to be something going on with he and his parents for him to have such a outburst in his regular bedroom when he really lost it and broke his things. There had to be something going on with the parents' relationship with their son regarding him breaking his things. All they wanted to do is control him treat him less than a human being and basically make him very miserably unhappy, probably until he turned 18 years old. Sitting in the dark is like solitary confinement. He might as well be put in prison. I am so grateful for the man who built the box room for reporting this, or it's pretty clear that the boy would still be sitting in that box room. I can't even imagine what his state of mind would be by the time he hit 18 years old. I think of these 2 parents as controlling and wanted revenge. This is'nt 2 loving parents to their son this is I hate you, and now I'm going to make you pay by making your life miserable, and that is exactly what they did. Mother dearests' turn is next. 😊

How could someone do this to a child? It is sometimes very tough with mental illness but he could have taken professional help for the little kid. The jury got it right.

He has had no emotion this whole trial, except when his son said everyone should just let them learn and move on. And with his wife.
Neither he or his wife showed much emotion if any at all to all the yelling and put downs. Or the videos of their son in the box. Well now he gets to feel what it is like not to have a choice on leaving his room.
I love how the defense says he doesn’t have a criminal record. Yes he does! He was just found guilty of a felony.

I’m blown away thinking how this pair of people have so little insight into what they were doing. How did they think that the boys behavior would have convince a jury that it was enough for them to act this way? I don’t get it.

Nobody gets it because we are all normal human beings, trying our best to get along in life. The Ferriter parents are not normal. Their thought patterns are warped. We can never get our heads around the way a damaged mind works.

Not surprised how quick the jury reached a verdict. These parents became "obsessed" with this boy. They were on him for every single little thing, it was ridiculous. Too bad when the judge does the sentencing he could include solitary confinement for a week each month for the duration of his sentence.
