As far as cheap imports go, I appreciate the fact that Firefly seems to be constantly trying to make better products. Something a brand like Glarry can’t say.
After seeing all of yours and a few others reviews on Firefly I went ahead and got one of their new tele style in pink sparkle. Figured at this price why not.
I bought the shell pink Strat with basically the same specs but with a nice tremolo in HSS config. (with Alnico 5's!), the specs on these FFST's and FFTL's are insane for the price of 197 USD shipped.
Max, the Humbucker version of the FFTL has a three spring trem system as well. Bought the pink sparkle for my wife and Chameleon Green for myself. They arrive in a few days. The Humbucker version has push pull split coil as well!
@@TylerJohnstonGuitar Got both the Pink Sparkle and the Green Chameleon. Neck is a tad thin but still very playable. Split Coil Pot was wired backwards, you have to pull up on tone control to go to Humbuckers. Other than that, neck was straight, frets were level but needed a bit of a polish. Oiled the board and barely had to adjust intonation. Was my best Firefly experience out of the box to date.
Picked up a blue burst for my daughter's birthday. Really nice guitar and it was set up pretty well out of the box. It's contoured well and includes locking tuners, ss frets, and split humbuckers making for a really versatile guitar. A lot of guitar for $180.
Great video, this was one of the vids that made me pull the trigger on the pink sparkle telecaster with splittable humbuckers. Its awesome for the specs. Thanks so much! Couldnt be happier with the guitar, it stomps all over my tele harley benton haha.
I Purchased The FFST (Strat Style) With That Color, SS Frets, Locking Tuners, Roasted Mahogany Guitar body, Roasted Maple Neck, Rosewood Fretboard, Korea high quality bridge, Customized Alnico 5 pickups, Nickel strings and Bone Nut, Total USD $196.91 ...Can You Believe That!..It's One Awesome Guitar!
Just bought the shell pink one today! Very hyped to get it. I've never owned a pink guitar, but it has this weird retro/future look to it I can't resist!
I bought one in shell pink, this review helped in my decision to pull the trigger. I’ll start with the good. The fret board/fretwork was flawless. Not a single lifted fret, no sprout, no movement with my fret rocker, obviously fret buzz either. The ball end frets were the deal sealer for me and they did not disappoint. The neck feels great. The brass saddles were a welcome touch. At the price point, I was throughly impressed. The not-so-good, the finish had a couple imperfections…I don’t care personally for the price point…some might so I include it. Now for the bad. Not a fan of the factory tuners….4 of the 6 were hard to turn for half the rotation then were easy, then hard…like a binding. The high e string pulled thru the lock, perhaps I didn’t tighten it enough. This revealed another issue. The string ferrules, well 5 of the 6 came out with the strings. Simple fix for me, but a beginner might not know how or what to do. Again, at the price point you get what you get. I replaced the tuners with staggered Hipshot lockers (I stock them), adjusted the action to my liking (came with acceptable action, needed intonated). Some knit picky stuff: the volume and tone knobs were kinda “wobbly” like they weren’t installed properly…but another easy fix…the pots were smooth though as was the switch…I’ll likely be changing the controls at a later date, but they do the job for now. Overall I’m still very happy with the guitar. Changing tuners and fixing ferrules were easy…but a beginner may not like the tuners being stiff…and may not know how to fix the ferrule issue. I truly enjoy playing it…I don’t care that it’s not one of the top tier brands, it’s enjoyable to play and that’s what this is all about. Have I had better experiences? Definitely. However, the price point more than makes up for the issues I encountered. For a modding platform, it will be great. I can’t say I recommend it to a beginner except maybe for someone with a buddy or family that can fix the issues they may or may not encounter. However, for anyone looking for a modding platform, a practice guitar to “toss” around between gigs, or just something enjoyable to play…I recommend. Firefly have stepped it up big time.
I purchased a Firefly Baritone Tele. I upgraded it with Bareknuckel pickups, a Fender bridge and locking tuners. It plays like a million bucks. Of course, my upgrade cost more than the guitar, but it is amazing.
I bought 2, both sparkly ones! This is what I had to do to them to make them awesome, minor stuff but what do you expect for 169.00(the bones of the guitar awesome). I had to open up the nut slots(tuning issues), remove one of the string trees, changed the springs(springs that it came with sucked), I had to set up the string action, changed guitar strings, adjusted relief on neck. So minor things and they Both are totally playing awesome now!! Great guitars and what a deal, I was skeptical at first, but not any more!
these guitars are mind blowing...you could by 3 of these for the price of one squier classic vibe and those squiers don't have roasted maple necks no rosewood fingerboards no stainless frets no locking tuners and the list goes goes on and on......if these guitars keep getting better and the great guitars from other china makes fender is going to really have to step up there game with squier to compete......i have one firefly i kept and won't sell my aerosonic.....it has the stainless frets.. now it has tone ninja locking tuners guitar fetish surf 90 pickups and the guitar fetish post mount x-trem........
I picked up one of the firefly relic teles. Intonation and action were great out if the box. Only issue I found was several high frets causing some dead notes.
Man i love holoflake. Lol that model cost more than the holoflake option alone on my warmoth...warmoth's version of the finish does look way better. They use a much finer flake with bits of a larger flake sprinkled throughout to give it an extra sparkle...lol the whole build started with me desperately wanting a guitar with that finish so this is an amazing option for that.
Nice to see such offer on this affordable instrument. Fender would list this finish as holoflake on their option lists. I had a cs strat with this finish years ago.
Hi Max, Thanks in no small part to your excellent reviews, ;-)) I just received my new Firefly FFTL in Transparent Blue this afternoon. Shocked doesn't begin to describe my reaction. I went over this guitar with the proverbial fine-tooth comb. I started playing in 1962 (yeah, I'm and old guy). My first real guitar was a 1963 Fender Jaguar. I think I told you that in a previous message. Anyway, this guitar is perfect, as far as I can tell. In addition, the neck and fretwork are magnificent, and it sounds like a Telecaster. I would know because I have a new Fender American Deluxe. If I'm honest, this one is better. I don't know what's happening to the guitar world. Maybe it's CNC. I don't know, but this is my third Firefly along with an EART and several other inexpensive guitars. They are ALL fantastic! I bought this one on a Black Friday sale for $149! It's almost criminal. I feel like I stole it. I just checked and they are still only $161. Thanks again for the review! Shalom/gw PS Never forget to pull Carb. Heat! lol
The EART equivalent Telecaster is almost 2x the price! THIS one has all of the EART features and contours, PLUS locking tuners AND Alnico V pickups! I don't think that you mentioned the pickups! On my FFST, I noticed that they were VERY bright. Your Telecaster sounded that way too. That is HUGE difference between the EART as well, not necessarily bad, but different. These sound hot and bright, while even the neck pick-up on the EART sounds hot, but warm or dark....almost like an LP humbucker instead of a single coil.
I honestly wish i would have seen this video before I bought my Squier Sonic Tele. I love how innovative this company is while staying in the budget price point.
I Have One Of The FFMMs And I Love It... Haven't Had A Chance To Really Play It Much Because Like You, I Have More Guitars Than Arms, But I Always Seem To Be One Guitar Short, LoL I Would Say When/If They Come Back In Stock, Pick You Up One. I Think You'll Like It....
Firefly could really take it to the next level if they came out with a configurator that allowed you to pick components. Choose body, neck, pickups, etc. I'd be willing to pay a premium for that.
Yeah rhese new Firefly FFSt and FFTL guitars are next level for the price. I just recently checked out the green chameleon T style as well as an Hss strat and even a Suhr style HH strat ans they are all fantastic.
i wish they would just have all color option for all their models, these glitter colors would be great on the V or Explorer types...also wish they would to the floyd on them also
I'd like to hear about your impressions of their yellow F335's pickups. I have a green Firefly F335 with a tan racing stripe I dearly love, but I had to upgrade the microphonic pickups.
i was going to buy that color FFTL but it sold out just before I did! I'm pretty happy with the relic'd tele I ordered instead, but damn I wish I had snagged that one
Looks great, some wonderful finishes and some lovely comfort features. I wasn't too pleased with the sound though. Tele's can be shrill, and I don't know if this was the guitar or your rig, but it sounded pretty grating to me. I suppose if you are going to save money it would be on the pickups and electronics, sine they are upgradable without affecting comfort and playability.
I absolutely love watching these expensive guitar reviews. With such nice features it certainly makes you wonder why other guitars of the same type are so much more expensive…like 10 times more expensive!! The biggest problem I found is trying to find the inexpensive ones I want in stock. HA! I guess I’m just too slow. I do get a chuckle out of the comments on these inexpensive guitar reviews. I see things like: “I’m going to buy one of these and modify it. The first thing I’m going to do is replace the tuners and I guess while I’m at it I’ll go ahead and swap out the neck. Next I’m gonna rip out all of the electronics and put a new wiring harness in with some new pick ups and while I’m doing that I’m gonna replace the pick guard and just swap out the body as well. This will give me the guitar that I really want.” LOL!!
I only wish they would do matching headstocks or at least the option for it. I really don't mind paying more for more bling. This thing is a steal though.
Max you should review the telecasters from Leo Jaymz that are starting to make a roar. I ordered one and I’m willing to bet it’s the best budget tele out there. Would put it up against a fender any day. Their LP copy guitars are getting pretty good feedback too from what I can tell.
Could you check what’s the route under the pick guard? I’ve been on the lookout for a cheap guitar to do a Tele bridge pickup, middle Strat pickup and P90 neck pickup and this one looks perfect, with the contours and great looking neck.
I got this same model in the sonic blue. I love it but I am disappointed in the locking tuners. They’re very stiff and the locking mechanism snaps the thinner strings if you are not careful when tightening them. Other than that I had to file the low E slot on the nut and do a setup. Nice guitar.
GoDps said that all of the et hybrids from Sawtooth were defective since last Good Friday. Not sure its worth the wait until a new shipment arrives. It was just a disappointing Christmas transaction, and I need to just get over it and move on. Thanks for asking, it helped to vent a little.
Wow! How did I finally get a guitar before you? The tele with the 2 humbuckers has the default coil split (down) on the single coils... gotta pull up for the humbuckers... just a cool feature, in my mind 😊
Have both the mustard and ketchup FFMNs. You should try one. Plays great. Fun guitars that I’m not afraid to take around my dog who licks…or shall I say relics everything 😉…. Also I’m not afraid to work on them or modify at this price point vs $$$ guitars. Just modded a FFST Chameleon and it is one of my favs. They also have a FFLP Axcess style with a Floyd Rose trem.
*Max here is a challenge!* How about shooting a video of you assembling an entire set up: guitar, amp, effects, to sound like a pro for under $600 or under $750 or something like that.
I'd like to see you get the blue chameleon hh Tele and do a comparison of it with the blue hh Tele from Eart that you just reviewed. They appear to have very similar specs (firefly spent appear to have the coil split though), but the Firefly is half the price. 😳
I'd like to buy that just for the body and pickups .. then do some modifications and set in a 24 fret neck. Maybe a 26.5" scale would do it... Without having to take away too MUCH of that midnight sparkle. Of course I'm going to route in a recessed Floyd Rose.....
Happy there is this option. All I care is the body, joint, stays in tune and most of all... fret board doesn’t buzz and is smooth with low action despite weather 👍🏿 The slight difference in relict wood, and coils don’t make a difference. Just as long I can play all day and buy another one with pocket change. Back in the day Guitarist snobs piss me off! Shut up and play. ✌🏿🤨👍🏿
As far as cheap imports go, I appreciate the fact that Firefly seems to be constantly trying to make better products. Something a brand like Glarry can’t say.
Firefly is more Harley Benton who also makes decent budget guitars with features well above the expectation at the price point

@@TylerJohnstonGuitar My HB Tele has Roswell pickups nice classic tone. Bridge and nut are really good. It's on my rack instead of a MIM tele

that is literally everything you could want in a tele and more, absolutely unbelievable
You are killing me! I keep ordering these guitars. This will be my first firefly, very excited. Keep up the awesome content.

I'd like to buy that just for the body and pickups .. then do some modifications and set in a 24 fret neck. Maybe a 26.5" scale would do it... Without having to take away too MUCH of that midnight sparkle. Of course I'm going to route in a recessed Floyd Rose.....
How are the pickups ?
I just bought the chameleon green. At that price, I couldn't pass it up. Thanks Max. 👍🎸
The Pink Metal Flake is on my mind 😊 However, can't find these new guitars for sale site ??? 😮
Google Guitar Garden or Max has the link in the description
What guitar would you recommend for 200.00? For playing metal.
The tele baritone has a 27” scale length.
I am impressed but will wait for Leo Jaymz as he will start using Jumbo frets on some models. Jumbo frets is key for me.
Where to get firefly guitars? Nothing for sale
Hey there, do you know what the weight is ?
Just amazing guitars
Happy there is this option.
All I care is the body, joint, stays in tune and most of all... fret board doesn’t buzz and is smooth with low action despite weather 👍🏿
The slight difference in relict wood, and coils don’t make a difference.
Just as long I can play all day and buy another one with pocket change.
Back in the day Guitarist snobs piss me off! Shut up and play.
✌🏿🤨👍🏿
338, BH, LPS, TL, ST, It's obvious to me what these acronyms mean. But what does MN, DC, LX, LV mean on the firefly website?
Black galaxy not showing up on their site! Bummer.
What size fret would you say it has?
