I never get tired of seeing them and the help keep the pride alive in being a Marine. I was at an embassy overseas awhile back (not a great country) half the Attaches and others at the embassy and consulate in this area were former active duty Marines as was some of the DSS guys. We all went out had beers talked story it was like we were all in the same unit even though I hadn't met any of them before except the legal Attache'- We call it the Marine Mafia no matter where you are no matter how bad it is or gets if there are others there that wore the EGA you'll be taken care of- I see it all over the world al the time in every clime and place.
Our military is the best in the world, but I must admit, Marines are the best of the best. I wanted to join after high school, but chose another career I'm also passionate about. Thank you all for your service, USMC. We are the land of the free because of you brave people. Chesty would be proud of all of you.

They are already infantry Marines, This refines their skills of disapline. Somthing you probably don't even understand. Untill you learn the true meaning of Honor, Courage, Commitment and the true meaning of their motto you won't understand this unit at all or Marines in general.

As of right now, I’m enlisted into the Marine Corps and I ship out to Camp Pendleton on July 13th. I know very well about the Silent Drill platoon, and I want to be in it very badly. But, I am too short, my recruiter told me the height margin to be in the silent drill platoon is between 6’0” and 6’3”. And I’m only 5’7”😢
Good luck with Recruit Training. Remember, the ONLY easy day was Yesterday. Trust me, as a former DI, its gonna be hard as hell. Many have tried, few will suceed to earn the title of United States Marine. Good luck and welcome to our ranks!
