I agree with the whole review. I ran in the 30 and now the 31 and it seems the 31 has a touch more mid foot stability. I love the forefoot rocker and hope they never get rid of it!
@@its_Matt_B_ right? Lol! I don’t need. Stability shoes, but I like it! Im trying the glycerin 21 non gts based on your reviews. Should be here tomorrow!
I have a pair of GEL-Kinsei Blast. It is a heavy shoe for me to consider them as a running shoe but comfortable as a walking/causal daily shoe which I use them for. I think it was an experiment for ASICS to test a few technologies, starting with Novablast design (the sole viewed from bottom is very similar to Novablast) I think ASICS brought the heel collar inside padding and pull tab design from that shoe to Nimbus 25/26, Kayano 30/31. Note: I think FF Blast was a much more responsive foam than FF Blast+ Eco. Blast+ Eco is cushioned but not giving back much.
I had the amazing Gel-Kayano 29 and GT 2000 12. Recently I got the New Balance Vongo v6, good shoes but a bit hardcore for my overpronation. I prefer my Structure 25 and will replace it later this year with the Gel-Kayano 31. The Vongo reminded me about that Mizuno Inspire 19 that I had, super good and no way you overpronate on them , but it is too intrusive ... I prefer this non intrusive support idea of the 4D guidance in the Gel-Kayano 30/31.
I have the Gel-Kayano 30... Yeah, its not a bad shoe, I see it works, I know it works... I know its a good shoe... But it feels like god damn dead brick :( I also understood nobody who said the k30 is "soft" and "plush", its kinda firm, cushioned but firm. Hot take from my side: I hate these eco foams, every shoe I run who had the eco foams - doesnt matter which brand - felt like lifeless bricks. Could be the also geometry sure.
Yeah, it seems it’s a pretty common consensus about the eco foams not being as good as their planet-destroying counterparts. The people who say the Kayano is soft and plush must only be referring to the upper. That or they’ve never actually run in a shoe that’s soft/plush.
@@its_Matt_B_ There is actually a kinda nice take from the chinese running shoe brands, esepcially xteps who "gurantee" 2000km on the outsole. They made the take - whats more friendly to the environment, a single pair wth a high carbon foodprint that last for ages, or many shoes with a small carbon foodprint. Of course its all just a game, a none of these brands seriously care about the planet. But its funny to think about it.
I've checked Kayano's. As amateur runner its way to much amortised though i run in worn down Enzo 2 Refresh on short distances 5-20km on 4:4x-5:xx min/km pace, so most likely im not there yet. Hoka Arahi 7 was closer to my preferences, but they just cant fit my fit well.
Currently running in the 30, so I’m glad to see the 31 is more breathable! 🤓
More breathable doesn’t always mean much during an Arkansas summer! 🥵🤣
@@its_Matt_B_ Every little bit helps! 🤣

I am a neutral runner with stability needs-This looks very promising!
You are precisely who this shoe is made for!

Glad to hear this version is a win for you! Unfortunately, because you like the rocker so much they will probably get rid of it next year! 🤣

I'm with you on the Eco versions not being as responsive. Hopefully they'll keep working on getting a super-responsive eco-friendly foam. Well see!

I’m with you on the non-intrusive control from ASICS 4D guidance. It works well and feels good!

Got me through my PF.
This is probably the highest praise a shoe can receive!
@@its_Matt_B_ Can't say enough about the Kayano if you suffer from PF. Thx, Matt.

Are the Arahi 7s a little too narrow for you?
Indeed they were!
@@Gaer56 Yeah, that’s not too surprising. A lot of Hoka shoes tend to run a little narrow.
