Dis is very interesting. I’ll be sure to try it this spring or next fall after all the ice melts
Glad no carp reared their ugly gills 👍🏻
How much do foldable Kayaks cost?
Where’s you get a foldable canoe?
Foldable kiak link?
Rigs up for bass, targets bass, catches a bass. “Not what I was expecting”
He’s goofy
Exactly shit made no sense.... lol.
Bro I was thinking the Same thing
Had to scroll down on the comments to look for this moment lol
Probably because bass aren’t really active in winter and are in deep water. If you fish, you’d know that and why he wasn’t expecting it. Kinda like y’all go out with your little friends all dressed up hair all gelled up or your man-bun is nice and tight for the ladies, you want a lady and somehow you get a lady. Not what you or anyone else expected huh. Get it now?
As opposed to me;
>buys a hook for pike
>buys minnows for pike
>fishes by the weeds for pike
>catches a smallmouth
I know what you’re thinking, “smallmouth prefer rocky areas while largemouth are the ones that like weedy places” and that’s exactly what I was thinking the 70th time I went pike fishing and caught a random type of bass.
Please God wear immersion gear and a PFD if you are fishing on a foldable kayak in the winter
Idk what it's like in Mass but we've had a pretty warm spell where I am in the North East and last week I was wading almost chest deep in my uninsulated summer waders. Excellent advice for when the water is cold, but the water temp may not be that bad where he is
@@AP-qu2li
It's February in Massachusetts. The water is damn cold! I grew up in MA, many lakes freeze over
@@AP-qu2li if the air temp plus the water temp is less than 120° combined, you can be at risk for hypothermia from it. There’s no chance it’s that warm.
@@AP-qu2li it gets COLD in new england. lakes in winter are deadly.
Someone died not too far from my home last spring (northern Maine). Fell off their boat into the water.
It had been really warm outside, but the water was still barely 40f.
“That’s not what I want, I want bass” also “wow I wasn’t expecting a bass”
IKR?!
🤣
yet that's his no question asked silly looking ass kicking rig!
Only fish he caught after 30 tries too !
I want 3mil so I must expect 3 mil
Maby he didint expect it on the first try
We fished with this rig all the time in my childhood, will try it again this season. Half of a Senko makes a lot of sense if you're a bass with a tiny, primal brain - just instincts and not exactly the longest attention span. The color catches your eye and you see half of a snack floating in the water, meaning something else, maybe another bass, just ate the other part. You didn't see or hear any panicking/fighting in the water, so it looks like those are easy scraps to immediately scavenge. Maybe bass that would be leery of a whole bait might let down their guard a bit.

I'm more amazed at seeing a foldable kayak.
Ikr 😮
I just looked it up just to see for myself. 2018 is when I think the kayak he is in (tucktec) started. 2012 Oru Kayaks started (not the one he is in) and way back in 1905 was the first “foldable kayak” wild how it took so long to make them widely used of course the 1905 was different tho
Dude the tucktec is pretty solid for what it’s worth. I’ve had mine for 3 years and have only had to patch a major drag point.
You'd be amazed at the price aswell I was looking at getting one over the pandemic until I saw the cost 😂
@@joeblogs318 how pricy are they? I love to kayak but I don't drive, so ideally I'd like to get a folding one or an inflatable one. Being a Minnesotan it's just silly to not own some sort of boat with all our water.
Catches one fish… and now has revolutionized the weightless ned rig lol 😂
Lol!! I know, right?
The name fits this rig almost perfectly. I call it bullshit
I was gonna say the same thing. Basically a ned rig
Ned rigs are addictive in the northeast given how effective they are
Zman PB&J finesse trd
Ned rigs work everywhere i’m in cali and my waters love TRDs 😊
They work everywhere
this is facts
Just slayed in lake Havasu Arizona with the Ned whole the locals skunked with drop shots
I feel so stupid at 37 years old. I went winter fishing at my summer spot last month out of boredom on a small river and caught twice as many smallmouth as I normally do there. I don't know where I assumed that the fish went during the wintertime, or why I had always stopped fishing. They were still...there.
Lol they dont hibernate they have to eat.
You can't beat the good ol' senko. Whether you're a pro or a complete beginner, a senko will always catch you a bass no matter where you are. I've had days where I literally fish everything from frogs to ned rigs and I won't get anything but as soon as I throw on a plain senko, the bass bite like it's a warm meal from mom.
Hey, can I ask a newbie question? Theres no bass where I live, just trout, perch, pike. Im travelling to a place with bass this spring and have been looking into it.
Senkos look HUGE to me...what size hook would I use? Im used to size 8/10 hooks, and trout magnet sized lures. I just cant convince myself a gigantic-looking senko will catch anything! Lol
@@BeckyS For senkos, I'd recommend using 3/0 offset hooks(I prefer extra wide gap hooks). Senkos come in many sizes, but most people tend to use between 5-7 inches. The way the guy in this video rigged it works, but using the entire senko allows it to sink faster and also gives it more action.
@@BeckyS they work trust
Went bass fishing for the first time with my buddy and he told me to just use senkos the whole time we were out there. Catch so many all day everyday now on just senkos. Theyre like magic lol.
Pretty common to cut those down so the fish wont nibble on the long part and miss the hook.
Yep, yep.
We have a saying in the military, "If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid."
I caught like 50 bass on my fishing trip this weekend.
Wtf! I wish
This is what i love about fishing is there are no rules, endless possibilities & constant learning.
There is one rule.. never touch another man's worm
@@Luke_totally_luke most certainly.. hands off the worm 🪱
There's alot of rules man.. maybe not the ones tour thinking I guess
@@Luke_totally_luke😂
You forgot the “and sure enough”
I've never seen a kayak like that before, wow I want one!
They are $500+ 😢

Have any of yall watched river monsters? Such a good show. I wasn't even into fishing until I watched it.
Yay! river monsters!!
Never really got into river monsters. I got into fishing because I grew up with a pond on my property. Three more years and maybe I can build a new house out there and have my pond back 😂
the main reason of my fishing addiction
Jeremy Wade, he sure knows his fish!
The Musky Episode was priceless.
faux ned rig lmao
I was thinking the same thing
Yup!
"i want bass"
*catches a bass
"thats not what i was expecting"
I lived on the inner banks of NC at a sailing camp for a while. There was a handyman at camp who would catch monster flounder on a rig just like this. I'm talking 10+ pounders regularly. He would gut them and take them over to the camp kitchen and have the cooks fry them before he went home. He had some lucky kids because that was some of the best fish I've ever had. He knew I fished too, so sometimes he would bring by the fillets he was taking to the kitchen to show me, damn things were 4" thick sometimes.
Bro is acting like he invented the Ned Rig
That canoe could double as a toboggan in the winter.
*kayak not canoe.
My brain must have shut off for a sec.@@Eidolon1andOnly
Things that will never be associated with me:
1: Foldable kayak in February 😂😂😂
40 years ago the “do nothing worm” was pretty much what you’ve got there
I use just a white grub and a hook literally have tried everything and that’s the most effective for me
Bro. I got like 10 packs of those same senkos for like $6 at Walmart because they had accidentally mislabeled the box that holds all the senko packs as ONE pack lol. Stocked up for a while
🎉🎉🎉
"Ice fishing is great" wow, those are fighting words. Put a life jacket on
Says “he’s looking for bass”. Caught one. Says “not what i was expecting”. 😂
Rigging for a bass... Catches a bass... Didn't expect that... wut bruh 👁️👄👁️
Bro is floating on a big leaf
I usually put a bb sized split shot up the line about 12 inches or so. The bass and pike out here reeeeeeally love those small senkos like that.
I'm not gonna lie man I get a super refreshing feeling when I see other largemouth bass anglers actually thinking outside of the box
Especially when I can actually learn something new
"I want BASS" i felt that😂
Only thing i cant believe is that a foldable Kayak exists and that it doesnt leak
That house is better than I could have ever made
Bro I cut a ned rig trd in half and put it on a hook and caught the most fish of my life that way. It’s crazy to think they will go after something so small. Especially when it’s cold this seems to really work no doubt.
Never in my life have I ever seen a FOLDABLE KAYAK
the delivery on "halfturd" was perfect
It works because it almost imitates a tube. Take a Dry Creek tube in a 1/4 Danielson jighead and you’ll catch endless numbers. Big fish hit it too. My PB 9.6 largemouth came off a tube
Effectively "we have a nee rig at home". Ned rig does slap.
I started using that set up when I was a kid and couldn't afford to keep buying tackle and baits and had to get the most out of what I had. When a worm would get torn up, I'd tear off the head and tail and thread it onto a hook and use it and it does catch a ton of fish. You wouldn't think it'd work but it does
But that kayak is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen haha
What is the model ?
It’s a tucktec
The boat inspires confidence
Folks be acting like bass are hard to catch during the raining season 😂😂
Everything about bass fishing is simple and silly no no surprise here. Watching bass fishing is like watching golf.
This has been one of my go-tos for forever hahah
Seems like a ned rig without a weight. Good stuff.
According to the lore, that's how the ned rig came about
"Pickerel" *shows pick of Northern Pike*
this only works if you fish somewhere that fish don’t see lures often and there extremely easy to catch
sencos will forever be wacky worms in my mind
"I call it the half turd"... I call it the Ned rig...
A mid-February fishing session for me would be paddling a kayak onto 2 feet of ice
If it's stupid, but works, it's not stupid.
It probably resembles something they were eating at that time.
"I want bass"..........."oh look a bass, not what I was expecting"
It's not dumb if it works.
The strike king 1.0 squarebill in chrome shad and the strike king 1.5 deep diving squarebill have been the juice all summer for me
Idk about half a Cinco, but I love my weightless, weedless Cinco set up 100%
the "half turd".lol
I'm waiting for a foldable Titanic.
One time I actually caught a bullhead catfish on a half turd rig 1 in a million chance and a testament to its effectiveness
I 1st used this in middleschool. 1 of the best rigs I've used til this day for getting fish in the boat
Could just use a Ned rig... same thing ur throwing but just made that size not cut down from big to that size. Everything is proportional. Just a suggestion but throw what u have confidence in.
And sere enough
Scary Kayak Story...Guy is in a kayak goes out into the water about 30 yards. Mind you the coast guard is on his right and his friend's schooner on his left. My back was turned so I saw him go in didn't think much...as I turn his kayak comes back empty..the coast guard and his friends look baffled but there's a bunch of gulls going crazy about 50 yards out....scary. We have the big 3 here...🦈
Looks kind of like a trout magnet! Have you tried splitting the tail-end letting it hang through the hook for a little more wiggly action? Been curious about doing this with steelhead worms
I think I'm gonna Texas rig a Slim Jim tomorrow when I go fishing tomorrow. I will die laughing if it works.
Thank you for the tip! Now I can beat my father in a fishing competition
You do realize your basically fishing a ned rig right? We usually throw them on a small ned hook, but weightless is very good as well. Back in the 90’s we just called it down sizing. Spotted bass love it.
I've tried this...
It works! Just make sure it sinks, some of the stick baits float.
I figured this rig out just out of curiosity and it’s the only thing the fish eat in my old neighborhood
in sweden perch isent active in cold water😂
"If you can think it, you can fish it" - me, while simultaneously forgetting this as I think of him as stupid for not using a plopper to fish bass
New fisherman here, I’ve been fishing for about 2 weeks now, I use a 7ft rod a float and an English size 14 hook. My question is to any experience angler, how do you know you have got a fish biting without a float? Maybe it’s just because at the moment I’m catching like 6oz and below but my rod doesn’t twitch or move instead the float does. Thanks
My old friend told me to never eat bass. I asked why so he caught 2 and tossed them on the grass and told me to wait half an hour. Not even half an hour later and these worms were crawling out of it all over. "Almost all bass have parasites. They are only good for sport fishing but don't eat them."
i just slap a big fake worm on a 3/0 hook and catch monster largemouth. but i put the worm on side ways gives it good movement in the water
If it looks stupid but it works. It ain’t stupid.
Most lures catch fishermen not fish, simplicity in lures is best
Wacky worm on a #3 circle hook is #1
Basically a "Ned rig" without a small weighted head. Sure it works.
I usually catch more fish on the last half of my stick bait than on a fresh one.
Basically a weightless ned
The way you have this rigged is brutal
Bass pro sold those and they worked really well
I do this when my worm rips, some ppl say get a new one but I jus keep it on lol
I swear by half senkos if they aren’t hitting a full one they might be a bit spooky so ripping it in half increases the hook ups by so much just by not being as intimidating to em
Don’t see many spinning reel bass catchers you’re keeping it alive brotha I usually cast a spinning reel when I go and keep a quick retrieve on my caring reel
I'm all about that bass, about that bass, no peckrel.
Funny enough as a kid i always ripped sanko's in half because i used to think that there was no way that fish was eating all of that sanko and it would be to hard for them to swallow so i just used half cuz i thought it would be easier and them biting in the middle would be easier to catch
You basically made a Ned Rig or Shakeyhead but with way more metal showing than a Ned. Why not just get some large Ned hooks and improve the appearance?
I gotta admit you were spot on with the 1/2 senko,
I’m using a 1/2 stick-o-worm and it’s been fire this season! Great advice!!!!
That’s called a Ned rig my friend… not a turd rig 😂
Half a turd will never disappoint
I have these scented sinkos and one got ripped in half and I started getting way more bites
2/0 offset and the 4” Yamamoto strung up the same work fantastic.
Sometimes the simplest methods work the best
that's basically a Ned rig
That’s a Ned rig, you won’t change my mind.
THANK YOU FOR THIS TIP BRO I CAUGHT MY FIRST BASS ON ARTIFICIAL BECAUSE OF YOU
