Hallo liebe musikalische Nachbarn.
After watching this, I fall in love with this concerto for left hand and bavouzet! Also it is a wonderful memory when he visited korea and played a ravel piano concerto in g major with Seoul philhamonic. I hope he visit korea again.
Absolutely “masterful”! So hard to believe what I just saw!!! The right hand must have been aching to get in there to help, although no help was needed! The left hand did everything of both hands! This pianist should be “immortalized” in bronze!!! Fantastic!
What an absolutely stunning performance of Ravel's Concerto for the Left Hand, composed for a pianist who had lost his arm in a WWI battle; the pianist did not like the piece. Fortunately, the piece has entered the standard repertory, and many first-class recordings of it, from decades old ones to 21st century ones, are available. I love this concerto, and few recordings rise to this level of rhythm, color, phrasing, and dynamism as this one does.
Jean-Efflam Bavouzet is fantastic on the piano in my opinion. Very select few, such as Samson François (with cond. Cluytens) and Leon Fleisher (with cond. Ozawa) are better than Bavouzet when it comes to the left handed conerto. On the other hand, the orchestra sadly leaves much to be desired, especially the brass section has a hard time adjusting its volume.
Yes! The François-Cluytens collaboration is fantastic; the first one I ever heard, in 1973-74. i was later privileged to see Philippe Entremont and the Orchestre de Paris (serge Baudo) perform the concerto in early 1975, Ravel's 100th birthday.
What's so great about Bavouzet, and why Ravel suits him so, is that he can play 'wet' so to speak, for this most liquid of composers. It's always about tone. It's funny, the only other musician I can think of off the top of my head who produces that kind of tone is the great guitarist, David Gilmour, of Pink Floyd. Ah, such a beautiful tone from these two musicians.
Keep returning to this performance and the excitement it generates-Bavouzet is so genuine and the Frankfort Radio Symphony
BRAVISSIMO!

The orchestra was very pleased with Bavouzet's performance. They applauded very enthusiastically.

Astounding
Greatest anti-war manifest by Ravel. Bravo musicians
Danke sehr.
1:02 agree or disagree: the best tone one could get out of a contra.
Bravissimo
Bravo

Yuja Wang is also fantastic in this piece as well, look it up my friend….. you won’t be disappointed.
My All time favourite recording is that of Julius Katchen. Stunning.

Klingt kraftvoll aber irgendwie düster
No clarity. Sounds terribly under rehearsed.
Curious to hear your rendition if that's what having no clarity sounds like. :)
Haha, you cactus and troll
