A year and a half is fast! I've been trying to get an agent for much longer than that.... CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That's amazing! I'm so happy for you and can't wait to see where this journey takes you! I could feel your excitement and enthusiasm and I hope I can get there one day.
To be fair, I only queried for 1 1/2 years, but the book that got me my agent was my 6th complete novel. We all take our writing journeys at different speeds. I hope you get that offer call soon!
you're probably just not bowing down to the left enough. you have to LGBTQIASLDF%#30AI{{IXxxxxx your way through trad pub. which is why most decent authors have ditched it. "you can't put [METAPHORICAL] shackles in your title?" lol. these hacks can go f themselves. X)
Omgggg, bc when u started explaining the name change, i nearly hugged you thru the screen! I’m so glad you understood completely why the word Shackles wouldn’t appropriate. I’m excited for your career xx
Sooo happy to know that after all ur efforts, you ended up having an agent! I know how much this can get so tricky and hard! But glad to know that you kept on trying❤❤❤
the agent tested her on the phone to make sure she would bow down to the big political dumpster fire. and ONLY THEN did she offer to be an agent. let's start a pub house that isn't full of university brainwashed halfwit cowards. :D
Listening to this wonderful video as a writer who’s approaching the end of my first draft. Fantastic. Congrats... realistically, she didn’t know if she was going to offer you representation at the start of the call but she saw how natural and enjoyable it was to work with you and decided on the spot.
Congratulations!! I found you through the authortuber facebook group! I love videos like these and yours is one of my favourites! I can't wait to see more videos from you! I'm thinking of querying next year with my current novel and I'm so excited. Watching videos like this is so inspiring!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate you saying so! Good luck with your querying journey, I hope it goes well for you! The most important thing in this industry is perseverance, you got this~
Wow this was actually really informative so thank you for that! I’ve personally been sending out queries for years, hundreds of them in fact, and not one of them has requested to even see a single page of it. Clearly I’m doing something wrong! 😂
I’m sorry to hear that, but you are not alone. Everyone’s author journey goes at a different pace. I’d recommend connecting with others in the query trenches (Twitter is often a good source) and getting more eyes on your query/first pages. If you haven’t gotten any full requests, either your query doesn’t stand out enough or your book doesn’t start in the right place. Good luck!
Someone I followed on Twitter just asked if anyone would be interested in joining! Being engaged in communities like Twitter or Reddit is the best way to stumble across opportunities.
What's the word count for The Bone Forest? And btw, I've been in the Query Trenches for 9 years for 4 books. It's definitely a drag. And also, to anyone reading this, don't ever make your villains the protagonist. Apparently, agents do not like that.
R&Rs are when an agent or editor asks you to revise and resubmit. Usually they will give you a lengthy edit letter of the things they want you to fix, then you'll go and do the revision, and send it back to them. They are often great because if the agent or editor turns down your R&R (which does happen) then at least you have a better version of your book to keep querying!
My group is full, unfortunately, but twitter is a great place to find writing community. Events like #CPMatch and generally following other aspiring authors and querying authors are the place to start.

Perseverance is definitely the most important thing when it comes to making it in traditional publishing!

That's very possible!

Go you ..Yay! stoked for you well done.
So exiting? Last week I was asked to send two fulls out to a literary agent and a publisher. Now I’m waiting. 😳
How did it go?

Hi! How did you find a query group? Thank you❤️

Bone Forest was 95k when I signed with my agent!
What way does a RR work?

We have never met, yet I find myself incredibly proud of you. One day I shall arrive.
I find myself proud of people's success too, even when I don't know them haha. So thank you so much!
CONGRATS
THANK YOU
Can you please add me in your group, because I am also a writer within a struggling period

@@JasmineSkye thank you so much, I joined in cpmatch
And I forget to say congratulations 🎉
Somebody rather overexcited at the thought of handing over 15% of her earnings.
