Delightful little game, with a feeling of a mini-mini-7 Wonders! I bought a lot of games from Button Shy over the years, and it's been a hit or miss. This one is definitely a keeper! Others are Sprawlopolis (same designer), Skulls of Sedlec, In Vino Morte, Arcane Bakery Clash and Rove.
I bought that solo game pack during the Ancient Realm/River Wild crowdfunding campaign so I will just go through what I've got. Sprawlopolis is a longtime fave of mine.
Oh man I’m a sucker for multi use cards and there is some clever stuff here. Like the art too
I love Button Shy games, I love games where you get chaining actions, and I love an ancient world theme. So this looks like it’s one for me! Another great overview and review Liz 😊
Thanks. Found it at Atomic Empires for $10.80. Based on your comments and the price, getting it became a No Brainer. Have it on the way.
I used to live in Durham and Atomic Empire is such a good game store. I miss it terribly!
Thank you , I really enjoy your reviews.
Thank you for the mini review. I've always loved mini, micro, wallet, pockets games ... whatever they are called! I'll definitely give this one a try!
It is HARD! Just got mine. Wish you'd have done a full playthrough. I've learned a lot of games from you. Was hoping for this one too... oh well... what you did was super cool. Thanks 😊
I'll put it on the idea list. :)
What is your favorite Roman era solo wargame?
Fantastic review and what a brilliant wee design!
I was genuinly impressed with how tight resources are and how difficult it is to do well in this micro game, however the experience started to feel samey after a handful of plays due to mostly similar Citizen and Wonder effects.. District events were probably the most exciting part for me. This doesn't quite make the top tier ButtonShy game for me due to lower replayability for me.
Lucky for us all that an expansion pack is coming to, well, expand things and help with replayability!!!
This is great! I picked this up recently as well, but haven't played. Will we see a full playthrough at some point?
I'll put it on the brainstorming list. :)
Rewatching your video to learn how to play. The rulebook is an incomprehensible mess.
