- I'll be honest - it was hard not to get sentimental making this one.
The past 7 years of my life have been absolutely incredible. Training as a surgeon has been the privilege and experience of a lifetime. And it went by in a flash.

*I'm not crying, you're crying* 🤓
Haha 👍
Congrats! On literally finishing everything. Lmao.
It's fake crying like fake news
You did it!! You have gotten so far to this point!! That's awesome. My dream is to be a General Surgeon so I hope to someday accomplish my dream. It is AMAZING to see you accomplish yours.
Thank you so much, Audrey! 😊
Omg I thought you were quitting
Haha nope! I just couldn't resist with the title :)
Yea, sneaky title 😅👍
Same... 😅
I thought you were 'quitting residency' for a second there. Also, congrats!
Haha I was a little sneaky with the title today :) And thank you!!
Dr. Click Bait over here, lol tricked us!
I’m so happy for you!! I should have followed my heart and went to med school. Happy Doctoring 🤓 Congratulations 🍾
So kind of you, Joy - thank you! Just posted a new video today - lmk what you think :)
I thought maybe you were dropping out for tech or entrepreneurship at first. Big congrats on finishing!
Hey Adnan! Nope didn't drop out :) The plan is to combine tech with surgery in my career!
Dude you're everywhere.
This ain't med school insiders XD
yess, just like med school insiders
@@ladygrace7585 LOL☠
“Wow, it went fast, it went so fast” ❤️
Thx, Kelly 😊I'm so glad you liked it.
Congratulations! I respect those who have a passion for this profession and do it well. It's far beyond what I could ever do!
Thank you so much, Yesica - you're so kind. I appreciate you! 🙏😊
Congratulations I can't even imagine how incredible that must feel!! You are one of few! 🎉I would love to hear what it's like to do your first surgery! And what happens next? I've only really thought about up to residency
Thank you so much! As far as next steps go, I'm on a slightly new kind of adventure (still surgery-related). Just posted a new video about it today - let me know what you think!!
Once a doctor, always a doctor in medicine!
@Dra O that is only for business purposes, knowledge is with us, forevers, madame colleague in caring and helping the different ailments that affect us all, throughout our lives and time here on earth...💫🤟😎 thank you for your service to all of the community's needs!
I first read the title and thought ‘there might be another reason why I should quit med school.’, but this isnt going that way. There are a lot to learn in med school, and everyone has high expectations that you cannot make any mistakes. It’s hard, but seeing this I hope I can graduate with all of my friends as well. BTW, Congrats on the last shift of Residency!
you DEFINITELY can, Punpun! And if you're curious about what comes next (in my life at least), just shared a new vlog today - check it out!
congratulations doc, thanks for sharing your experiences during these years. best of luck on your future endeavors.
Thank you, Sevak! Really appreciate it.
OMG, you fooled me! I thought you were becoming a professional(?) RUclipsr!! Haha... please, keep doing vlogs!
Haha glad you watched the whole thing! Definitely staying in surgery AND I'm going to keep the vlogs going - I promise!
Dr David Hindin, Attending General Surgery
Hi Abhilash! Still weird seeing that in writing 🤓
Did you finish your residency with anyone you started with? Like for the seven years or the whole time you'd been training?
Massive well done by the way. What an amazing achievement! 👏👏👏👏👏🥰
Thanks so much! I did 2 years in the lab, so the folks I started with finished 2 years before I did. But my graduating class I knew super well too.
Congrats, Surgical Doctor! Hope you bounce out of Philly ASAP like I did unless you like that sort of thing. The way your videos play about taking different longer pretty routes, you may find a city more to your liking out there~
Thank you!! I am heading out to California for part of the year, but Philadelphia will always be special to me - I have a feeling I will be back in the not-too-distant future :)
Congrats man! i actually cried watching this😭
thank you for the inspiration.
Sweet nostalgia! Such a great gang! Wishing you all the best, David!
You’re so kind, Kalimah- thank you!! Hope you are doing well 😊
AHHHHHH!! This is how I feel about graduating next year. I want to cry as well lol. Congrats David!!! ❤️🥺🥺🥺❤️❤️❤️❤️ YOU DID IT!!!❤️❤️
I kinda don’t wanna graduate, the feeling of just being thrown into the world is horrible, especially when you already live in a low income family.
Hey Paola!!! Thank you so much! Hope you have been doing great. This last year flew by! Can’t wait to see what you do in your life 😊
Congratulations Dr. Hindin! What an accomplishment. My wife is applying for surgery residency, and I’m considering OMFS. This sort of video gives me hope and encouragement. I can’t imagine how you managed to create content while still handling the craziness of residency. Thanks for your videos.
Very human touch to this video. I liked the mood music. .. So different from the tech videos I'm always watching.
Thank you so much, David! Just posted a slightly "techier" video (you'll see what I mean 🤓) - hope you like the music in it!
Congrats on such a huge accomplishment!
-From a Nurse
You're so kind, Meg. Thank you so much for all you do 😊🙏
Found you from a comment on Dr. Mike's video, just subscribed!
So glad to hear that, Emmie - thanks for joining the community! Appreciate you ✨😊
How lucky you’re working in USA. I’m a doctor in Portugal and nowadays more doctors can’t enter in a residency program. Because of that I was “obliged” to choose internal medicine but since I’ve always loved surgical specialties I gave up. So no residency no job. That’s the reality in Portugal. Nice video. All the best!
Congratulations, man! All the best out there!
Congratulations !! Picturing myself 4 years from now 😢 first year is so tough !
Thank you so much Klakolol! It feels like forever away but it will go fast, I promise :)
Almost spilled my coffee with this title! I thought you were quitting! 😅 Anyway, congratulations on this amazing accomplishment!!!!!
Haha that's so funny - I'm glad you didn't spill on yourself! and thank you so much, Gabriella 😊
Woah, I must have subscribed to you a while back not realizing you did your residency at Temple. I graduated from temple Pharm recently!! Congrats!! :)
That's so cool. What a small world! Thank you - and congrats to you, too!!
Kind of my dreams you are experiencing, congratulations btw🌟
That’s awesome to hear, Alp. Thank you!!
Thank you Dr. for sharing your experiences. Its a blessing to have watched you as a intern..now since I'm in Houston can there be hope for our beautiful illustrious medical center to be graced? xoxoxo
Hi Marie! I'm actually in California now, but you never know! 🤓 I just posted a new video today - excited for you to see it!
Man... I'm only in the beginning of my journey... Congratulations David!!
Thank you so much, David. It will go fast!
What are some things you wish your seniors told you when you were a junior? Also congrats!!!
hey Jenny, thank you so much!! There's no one thing that jumps out to me, but I can say that across the board the things that have helped me the most are realizing that you're not alone. When someone is overly critical of you in the OR and you feel like you can't do anything right, odds are that person is like this with all of the residents, not just you. If you're struggling to keep organized on a service, odds are your co-residents were, too. Don't be afraid to lean on your friends (especially your intern class) for advice and support. Hope this helps a little bit. I'm excited for you to be starting your journey in surgery! 😊
David Hindin, M.D. thank you so much for your insightful response! Congrats again!!
I should not be cutting onion watching this😂 ... I wish you all the best Dr. ❤❤❤
You’re so kind, Leonce- thank you!!
Wow, I don't know you but I'm proud of you. Great job!
Thank you so much, Emily. You are so kind! ❤️
Totally understandable title. I wouldn't want to be a resident for the rest of my life ;)
Exactly! Haha, glad you liked it! 😊
Congratulations!
I thought too you were leaving medicine. My dad who was a OB/GYN, past away on Thursday. He was so busy! He told us all about his beginnings as a resident! Congratulations!
So sorry to hear about your dad, Gina. Will keep you and your family in my thoughts.
Thank you
Congratulations sir
Awww... So touching. Congratulations bro. You deserve it. How would you compare it to your last day in medical school?
Thanks so much Olasubomi. Definitely more exciting than my last day in med school :) And if you're curious, just shared a new video about my new adventure in medicine - let me know what you think!
@@DavidHindin Awesome. Will definitely check it out.
The title got me for a second😂. Congratulations!!🎉
Haha I'm glad you caught the trick :) And thank you so much, Megan!
Phew! Worried me for a sec lol congrats Dr. Hindin!
Haha sorry, I couldn't resist :) Just posted a new video showing what I *am* actually doing now - looking forward to seeing what you think!
Congrats! What an achievement.
Thank you so much, Laura!! I really appreciate it 😊
@@DavidHindin my 6 year old son had his tonsils and adenoids out in november. His surgeon was amazing and since then he's decided he wants to be an ENT surgeon. When did you know you wanted to be a surgeon?
Hi Laura, I'm so glad to hear that you and your son had a good experience! I decided I wanted to be a doctor long before deciding that I wanted to be a surgeon - I realized how much I enjoyed surgery once I was in medical school.
Congratulations Bro!
Yas! An inspiring Temple Owl!!
Wish you all the best!
Thanks so much, Bob!
Nice Pictures man ! congrats !!! surgery is the best
Thanks so much, Alberto!
Wow! Congratulations!

I remember watching your first video wow haha keep working man
So crazy, James! Thanks for joining me and hanging out all this time - lots more videos to come. Appreciate you man 🙏

Thank you, Esdras!!
You got me, got me good (with that title I mean)
Haha hey Silas! I’m glad 🤓
Can you do a video about ABSITE and studying for Step 3 ? Please.
I’m crying
I did too a little bit! 😊
Congratulations! Wish you all the best in future! What is next plan, any fellowship?
Hi R B!, thank you! I am doing a fellowship - but it might be a different sort of training than what you are thinking. Just posted a video today explaining all about it. Let me know what you think!
Congrats!!!!
Thanks so much, Bethany!
Congrats
Congratulations 🎊🎉
Thank you!!
wooooo, congrats!!
Hey Mercedes!!! Thank you so much 😊
Great video! I need some insights about something, I’ll be graduating from med school in Russia. I was wondering, what my next step would be to match into a residency program in America. A reply would be lovely.
Hi Ashraff, I'm unfortunately not familiar with the process for foreign medical graduates but I'd recommend contacting individual schools to ask them directly.
Ashraff Haiqal Hi, come to the UK. We have some, if not, the best medical schools on the planet. Happy to have you here, if you do come!!!! 😀
Congrats 😭 🎊
Thank you so much, Amanda!
Congrats :)
Thank you so much, Diario!
Guys 😭😭 Pray for me to match surgery
Congratulations!! So awesome, I hope you find a great place for fellowship if you want to specialize more.
Thanks a lot, Luke! I actually am doing a fellowship - but it might be a different sort of training than what you are thinking. Just posted a video today explaining all about it. Let me know what you think!
What’s after residency?
I'm starting a fellowship at Stanford called Biodesign. I'm going to make a vlog series all about it - just posted the first video today! Let me know what you think.
David Hindin, M.D. sounds pretty cool!!
congratulations 🌸🌸🌸
All best
Thanks so much, Kevin!
I thought you were quitting at first like I was saying not you too.
In house call or an overnight for your last day? That sucks.
It worked out ok - did some great cases on my last night!
If you don't mind how old are you?
I know this is out of topic
What’s is like to you having to go to a family that you know that outcome will not be great?
In the US every doc must have a fat SUV haha
None of the doctors I know have an SUV, including me 🤷🏼♂️
It is very hard to leave your second family, the whole staff you worked with, every moment, every area in the hospital, every calling, every smile or tear of patients, how hard, very hard to leave that *harmony and intimacy* and say: *Good bye*
*Congratulation Dr. Hindin*
Name of last song please
It's by Blue Wednesday - linked up in the description. Birthday Girl. Enjoy!
Really? I thought that you were quitting. The title is too vague.
woohoo 🎉
Thank you!!
hi
So your on your own after this
Ugh why are handsome guys (doctor at that) always taken? :(
Just be nice to us nurses.
Who cares
Congrats. Surgeons are truly amazing people. Thanks for all your hardwork and dedication to your patients wellbeing!
That’s so kind of you to say, Josphelli - thank you!
Congratulations!
Thank you so much!
Congrats!!!
Thank you!!!
Sneaky title 😅👍
Thank you, Raoul!! I'm so glad you liked it. Hope med school is going great.
It is incredible to see how hard you guys have to work and how physically demanding it is. Saying that becoming a doctor is a sacrifice is a huge understatement. Just like we say, "thank you so much for your sacrifice and service" to veterans, we should say the same to doctors.
That’s so kind of you to say, Shreyas. Thank you! 🙏 Unlike veterans we definitely don’t risk our lives - so they’re still the real heroes!
@@DavidHindin found this comment lol we were so optimistic before the pandemic. But yes I would 100% take residency over war God bless our veterans
@@monav2686 agree with you! Happy Memorial Day, Mona!
Congrats man. I'm finishing my last year of medicine and after that I want to apply to a medical residence, so this videos motivate me to keep working hard. Thanks.
I’m so glad to hear that, David. Thank you! 😊
I am looking forward to having my last day as a medical student lol it feels so far away. The day I start ortho sgy residency will be the best day of my life.
It will come faster than you imagine! P.S. - just posted a new video. LMK what you think! 🤓
Congratulations. I can see the true joy in your eyes. Magical.
You’re so kind - thank you, Jason!
My brain is so scrambled I don’t even know what words to say.. yes indeed! 👍🏻
Craig speaks for all of us!!
Congrats! I’ll be there someday
That’s awesome, Fabricio- excited for you.
Your gonna change the world my friend. Blessings to you!
You’re so kind, Aqulis- thank you!

I hope you will continue vlogging! Will miss this.
I promise I definitely will. These have only just been the beginning - the vlog isn’t stopping any time soon!
Just like I promised - finally posted a new one today :) Looking forward to seeing what you think!
Congratulations to you for the success / prestige and value you deserve this all because two things one you are passionate plus you motivate other medical students to develop passion in them.
That is so kind of you to say, Nimrakhan. Thank you!! I appreciate you 😊
congrats
Thank you, Tekow!!
Wow I though you were quitting like alit of other residence. Congrats and good luck on everything .
