Thank you for showing the repair you made, it's a great technique. I admire your work and your willingness to share such details.
Absolutely! We're working on another video to show the repair technique in more detail. Stay tuned for that!
I really appreciate the soundtrack oddly? And also that the process isn't sped up to 1000x the speed it takes to make each motion in real life, it's refreshing to see someone at their craft in real time
This is a carving masterclass.
So many small details and lessons to take away.
Many thanks for posting.
🇬🇧
This looks absolutely beautiful you made it looks so easy as a BFA student myself specialising in print making I know how hard it is to make those sweet swirls you make .You are really great artist
Just Beautiful . 👏
Thanks so much!
Wonderful Video and Print! Thank you for using our inks. Cranfield.
Thank you for the wonderful inks! 🙂
This combination of copper ink and black paper is breathtaking! I am in love with your work!
Aww thank you so much 😊
Extremely satisfying to watch! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you 😊
That is really beautiful
Seeing a roller fully inked with that gorgeous copper ink is such a beautiful thing. This whole film is just layers of satisfaction and calm.
So happy to hear that! Metallic inks are magic 😄
@@MaaritHanninen I have a tube of gold ink I should use more!
Oh my I'm so excited to see another video from you
I'm having a child with a very talented artist that has a particular passion for linocut prints.
I love seeing these. I've done a few myself (I'm also an artist) but nothing as complex as yours.
Oh that's so nice! Congrats :) hope you enjoy the video!
beautiful
beautiful video
Wonderful to see the whole process in such detail. Thank you!
you are awesome. One of the best things I've been watching these days. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Wow what a sweet compliment! Thank you :)
Thanks a lot for the closeup of carving.
Loved seeing the repair and how you prepared the paper. I always learn something new from your vids. Thanks for sharing!!!
Glas to hear! We're working on a more in depth tutorial about the prepare technique so stay tuned for that :)
WAUW ontzettend mooi! You have such patience and grace while carving. I tried my hand last summer and it was definitely an amateurish job. It was stunning, having tried this myself, to watch your mastery of the craft. I'm happy to say I own three of your pieces myself! Continue the excellent work!
Thank you so much, Maddie!! Your support means the world to me! It certainly takes a bit of practice to get a hang of the carving part but I think it's mainly those super sharp tools that make the cuts look so easy. In either case, I appreciate the kind compliment! 😊
It was really groovy that you showed how mistakes can be corrected, I think a lot of people are put off at the idea that you have to be 100% right all the way through the process.
I was. So calming to watch, thank you.
It's a cool technique. You can also use milliput to fix small areas
Wow, this was super satisfying to watch, and it came out AMAZING.
Thank you so much! Glad to hear 😃
Stunning!
Thanks so much! :)
Nice print! I love the copper on black, yours is the first time I am seeing that.

Your work is amazing! Question though, why did you wet the black paper?
Wow, great job!
Amazing... congratulations to the artist! I loved the copper ink and the black paper.
Thank you! Great to hear 😊

I was just wondering if you are going to be making more videos? your videos are some of the best on RUclips for linoleum block printing, and it would be so great to have more from you. thanks. :-)

You cut your lines so beautifully! A perfectly cut block and a wonderfully shot video!
Thank you 😊
Hi, first of all I love your work, it's amazing!!!! But I have a question, why do you wet your paper before printing?
Maravilhoso. Esplendoroso
Keep going, keep going
the print looks really pretty! 💖
Thank you ❤
Great work! I just have one question: How do you store your lino reliefs after printing? Do they need to be cleaned or do you let the ink just dry on it? This is a thing most videos I have seen yet do not comment on. Thank you for your videos!
Thank you! I clean my blocks and then store in a plastic containers. I use sunflower seed oil or dishsoap & water depending on the ink.
@@MaaritHanninen Thank you very much!
hey there, great work! What kind of paper did you use to transfer on the lino while drawing?
What does she spray at the paper? Just water? Wonderful job!
ممتاز
Your videos are wonderful and inspires me to try Linocut for myself. Thanks also to show the repair technique. But one question, why to you make all the papers wet bevor you print them?
Thank you! I get more even ink that way
Looong process to create this) but looks good after all
Thank you!
Beautiful print! Well done! May I ask why you painted it black before you craved and then cleaned it later? Just curious!
Thanks. It's easier to see the cuts that way
@@MaaritHanninen Awesome thank u
WOW!! I love your work!! I have chosen to investigate your art-making process for my International Baccalaureate major Visual Arts project. If you don't mind me asking: what kind of paper do you use? I couldnt find any specifics on your website.
Hello Maarit, can you please tell why you sprayed the paper before printing? I'm trying to make print on black paper. Can you suggest thin black paper available to order online?
Amazing! I love this print! Can I ask why you wet the paper before printing? I've only ever done this with etchings never with linocuts!
I think she does it so the ink can adhere better? I want to know what is in the bottle? Water?
It's because of the combination of this type of paper and ink. When using the Cranfield Colours metallic inks on BFK rives paper, I've had major problems with the paper shifting ever so slightly when it goes though the press. Moistening the paper helps the ink to stick to the paper better.
@@maibritton2882 Yes, just water :)
Awesome prints. Whats the name of paper? Thank you.
Absolutely beautiful. What did you mix the indian ink with. Was it just water?
Thank you! Yep, it's just water to make the ink less opaque
@@MaaritHanninen Is there a certain amount of ink you should put on so the pen underneath still shows through? Going to give this technique a try but worried it'll cover up the pen.
Better to use too little ink than too much. You can always apply several layers of ink. Just let it dry in between. I probably used about 1/4 ink.
This video is really cool and helpful while I’m learning how to make linocut prints, so thank you for posting it.
I have a question: are those Pfeil tool? Do you mind telling me which ones they are?
Thanks! Yes, Pfeil indeed. Most of them are from the C set
I’ve red some comments, but don’t find the type of black paper uses to print the lino onto...
Please, can you tell me where can I fond that especifically one ??
Thank you!
This is inspiring, but can i ask why do you paint the block before making the shapes?
It's so that she can see what she's cut easier.
@@calliepickering2480 thanks🌷
I’m new to linocutting. May I ask, what was the purpose of painting the India ink on?
awesome vid! why do you paint the board?!?
Thank you! Painting the block makes it easier to see the cuts
I have a question! We are doing Linocut printmaking at school, and I am loving it very much (my teacher says that I have a talent for it 😚) and I don't want to stop when the unit is over. Are there any substitute mediums that I can use? that doesn't need a printing press like the one used in the video. because my teachers told me that for that type (and the rubbery one) we need a printing press (btw we are using the same materials as wut ur using).
I find printmaking very fun and soothing, with a beautiful outcome 😩
You don't need a press to print with this type of lino. Check maarithanninen.com/pages/faq for more info.
@@MaaritHanninen thankyou!! I am so happy that i can continue doing this after the unit is over with more freedom
What is the name of the paper that transfers the image? I'm looking to get more into printing and that would be really handy, I just don't know what it's called!
It's called graphite transfer paper. Very useful indeed. You can also make your own by coloring the back side of your sketch with a soft pencil
Is that carbon copy paper you're using to transfer the design over?
It is indeed
Could you tell me what kind of linoleum do you use??? Please~ 🙏
Please see the video description

Awesome! Great video! Keep it up! I subscribed and liked, I’m a doodler, hope we can support each other! Thanks!
