    Also: never ever brush your hair when it is wet. This makes the hair very elastic-y and softens the cuticle so it may break and snap. Brush your dreadlocks out dry, THEN condition!

      Eighth Elephant When you don't have dreadlocks still don't brush when hair is wet

      But the conditioner and the oils can provide so much slip that u have less breakage than when its dry

    Ugh, I had dreads that weren’t even fully matured yet, they were about a year old and to the middle of my chest and it still took me 3 days, two bottles of conditioner and countless broken combs to get them completely out. I surprisingly didn’t have a ton of damage either.

    I am having SUCH a hard time with starting my dreads. I start, get frustrated, and brush em all out again. I was wondering if you could help me find someone who would be willing to dread my hair and put in extensions for me. I have some wefts of black human hair. (My hair is black right now). Any suggestions? I cant do this by myself. :(

    I'm thinking about coming out a few locks but then just re-dreading them b.c I had them stupidly interlocked one time and I still have holes underneath some. do you think this would fix my issue or will the hair be all thin and damaged and not be able to?

    • @MIssLatta1504
      @MIssLatta1504 Год назад

      If I were you, I’d just take a palm full of hair, loose, cut from an extension or your friends head, lol, and hook and loop/crochet in the hair, into the hollow spots. If you don’t want to risk it that it. Because it could be too thin after or damaged. But maybe not. Just an idea a learned on here somewhere..try at ur own risk. Friend hair idea that’s mine though, I think that’ll be fun.😂

  • @RideThatPiggy
    @RideThatPiggy 7 лет назад

    Quick question how thick do you separations have to be because. Its tough to decide at the start and know how thick they will be once they're dreaded

    • @WiredAndStoned

      RTP your dreads will eventually match the thickness of the section!

    What'd you say the best, most natural thing is to wash your dreads with? I'd love natural dreads but I don't wanna dread my hair to find I have to use some chemical filled bottle of expensive shampoo to keep them residue free...❤

    • @AmandaMcGowan
      @AmandaMcGowan 8 лет назад

      dreads uk have a natural residue free shampoo that I use every week. General rule of thumb is go with a shampoo that is SLS free, paraben free and residue free. My dreads are only babies though so perhaps others might have better suggestions?

    i think that if i ever had dreadlooks and then suddenly don't want them anymore, i would just cut them all off or shave my head.

    second, i like myself with short hair 😄

    • @TheEighthElephant
      @TheEighthElephant 7 лет назад

      Sterre Sanders Do not put extentions in young dreads! Your hair needs to be able to "scrunch" up reach maturity- if you put extentions in young dreads, the weight of the extentions will pull on the young dreadlock and make the maturing process take much longer. Check out the RUclips channel Lazy Dreads for helpful dreadlock tips.

      @WiredAndStoned  7 лет назад

      I wash mine every 3 days, keeping them clean and free from oil is what increases the locking up process. I don't use shampoo or my fingers though that leaves residue and also makes the roots form together. I thoroughly stimulate and massage my scalp everyday with a hair pick-not fingers, because that disturbs the roots. Then I use a hair dye applicator bottle to squeeze liquid cleansers I make from herbs and berries tea ( soapberries, amla powder, brahmi powder, simmer with distilled water for about 45 mins. Strain- keep in freezer)all over my scalp and locs, let it sit 5 mins.- no fingers or rubbing- while wet ever . hair is fragile while wet- then rinse off really well. Helps dreads t o continue growing because of good follicle stimulation and keeps them nice and clean😁 then I follow up with homemade rice water( half a cup organic brown rice and 2 cups distilled water in a covered bowl leave to ferment in a warm area for minimum of 24 hrs. At most 48.)

  • @TheEighthElephant
    @TheEighthElephant 7 лет назад +17

    Heads up for anyone considering dreadlocks: so much of her hair came out during brushing because she crocheted her dreadlocks to try to speed up the maturing process. Crocheting breaks the hair shaft in the middle of the dreadlocks. Over time as your dreads mature, they will get heavy, and if the hair is broken in the middle of your dreadlock, you might end up having some straight up FALL OFF your head. Don't crochet your dreadlocks!

    Not surprising at all because you back home and use a crochet hook, crochet hook nothing but break it and you're fooling yourself if you think otherwise.....
    Dreading my hair without either of those methods cuz all they mean is breakage at least to me!
