- Since I started this channel I've had a lot of questions and comments about how I started working at DriveTribe and what it's like filming Clarkson, Hammond and May. I asked Mike to collate some of your questions and I've done my best to answer them.

I can recall dimly perceiving your presence behind the camera with May in the front, as he’d call you out, ask you to eat something you didn’t want to, etc. Been really interesting to see your rapport with May grow, along with your role in the team, as the story unfolds. Please keep the vlogs coming.
I totally understand what Lucy is saying at 6:00 about not realizing how much of a big deal they are. There's a few videos out there where you can see James switch from normal guy to TV Presenter and it's a very impressive thing to see.

With the pandemic going on...tough to get to see more of the Trio...would it be possible to organize a video of informal 'chat' with them, have a beer and talking crap about whatever they remember? That's be great fun to watch :))) One of the best things about the old top gear was all the small clips/ bloopers in between filming
I doubt it has anything to do with any of that "pandemic" junk. Jeremy is very busy and I've heard him playing around with the idea of retirement when he's done with his farm show, Richard doesn't have too much interest in being on television or youtube and likes his private life. Their own preferences and responsibilities are the thing. It has nothing to do with that covid stuff that everyone just likes to be on about because they let it be pounded into their heads constantly.

@@wangzikun2081 Yea that's true, they've all said they don't really socialize much outside of filming unfortunately. I suppose one can only speculate though.
I started to like you because I could see that James respected & liked you. Your interactions with him are always fun & you make him laugh which is always fun to hear. It didn't take long to like you because I love your passion for the job & you always do excellent work. I wish I had 1/4 your talent.

I would love to hear James' perspective on what it's like working with people new to the industry, such as Lucy (being straight out of secondary school), versus working with people who were considered seasoned professionals. Thank you for uploading this Lucy. As a recent college graduate (as of May 2020 woohoo lol) I tell my younger friends that there are plenty of opportunities out there that don't require a 4 year degree. I'm glad you were able to find a job at a place that you really like. Stay safe and you guys do a great job with the camera work and letting us see behind the scenes stuff with James, Jeremy, and Richard.

Nice one Lucy, as always. Stage fright is something I used to have all the time as an amateur thespian. What it does though is increase your adrenalin levels and in my case that helped tremendously. I was always buoyed by the fact that Sir Paul McCartney still suffers from stage fright even after all these years. Keep up the good work and keep those videos coming!

Just found your channel. It's good to see how the DT videos are created from your point of view. I bumped into James crossing the road in Tokyo a few years back. Just said a quick hello as I think he was on a break from filming and getting some food... probably some cheese! ;)
I love to think celebrities (especially like James may) probably love when fans approach them in this way, like someone actually realizing they’re busy but still wanting to say hello but just not waste time basically.

Skipping uni is a more valid choice these days, considering how having degrees are increasingly less of a guarantee to getting into your chosen career.
@@Chalky. oh for sure. I also skipped out uni due to the whole y2k situation that was happening at the time. I fell into the workforce.. 🤷🏻♂️. Granted, it’s not what I wanted to do, but it pays the bills.. I think Lucy lucked out hard. At the right place at the right time. 👍🏻👏🏻

I too had the choice between a scholarship at a company ( work in the day, then go to night school ) vs going to university. I took the job as you were learning "the real world' during the day, added theory in the evening, and earning good money. Was able to buy my house at 25. My night school professional qualification is the equivalent of a Masters degree. Then I've added another Masters degree from a university. Haven't looked back

My degree is in visual art, and I've done all different kinds of production over decades only to develop the opinion that I'm not very talented after all the amatuers I've seen who didn't go to college for it demonstrating natural talent even when they don't yet know how to properly use a camera.
One tip, though. In an interview format, it's customary on medium shots to frame the subject off-center. It's called "look-room." You leave open space in the direction they're looking. It is awkard when somebody is looking off-screen while they are centered in the shot. Also, "head-room." It's ok in artistic shooting to place a head directly in the middle of the screen, but in interviews and other talking-head scenarios, you want to minimize the space between the top of their head and the top of the frame. Watch news broadcasts and talk shows and you'll see that they never place heads in the middle of the frame. Look up a photography concept called "Rule of thirds."
Lucy, relax. Exhale, set your shoulders back and then let them drop.

@@jamesd3002 I agree but the quality hasn't been great either, latest video 11 minutes with a 1 minute sponsor plug in the middle and over all only about an hour and half of content in 5 week period and most of that was Mike getting his old car refurbished.

For those of us in the US, what is an “A Level”?
I find it odd from a North American perspective. The word 'Director' carries huge weight and responsibility. Directors lead whole divisions with several managers and they directly report to C-level management. It's amazing how Lucy went from high school straight to Director at Drive tribe. I can't wrap my head around that.
Didn’t she say she’s Head of Marketing? I don’t think she’s a director in the organisational sense. She may occasionally direct videos of course, but that’s a different kind of director.

It’s better not to go to university. I got a degree, never had a job. Except paper rounds. Partly that’s down to autism, but I think that a degree simply isn’t worth what it used to be. It may be worth nothing.
