A nice day collecting Apatite crystals with a few friends in Eastern Ontario (Canada). Come dig with me and I show you what I look for. email: meminerrocks@gmail.com
Hiya Greg, awesome video and very nice crystals, big ones and little ones, you like? I like, I hope you and your family, have a awesome blessed day and a Happy Easter. Cya! 😺🐟 out!
Smoky quartz, is really interesting, it's smoky because of surrounding radiation, so basically, at some point, the surround rock had to have emitted radiation in order for it to turn smoky. Some smoky quartz it artificially irradiated to make it smoky
@davidlevy9430 the difference being, what decides whether it's smokey or amethyst? The type of radiation, irradiated by different types of radiation, amethyst is gamma ray fron decaying matter, smokey is r-rays, radium radiations, or cathode-rays, I believe
Good Teamwork !!!!!
Wow! When you find apatite you find apatite. There were some really nice crystals. Keep having fun.
Splitting open the calcite in search of apatites looks like a ton of fun! Thanks for taking us into the hole with you! Me like a lot!
It is fun but can also be a heartbreak if the split is in the wrong spot. lol
Good to see you back on the hunt!
Would love to see all the apatite cleaned up 😊

There are radioactives in the area, so your comment is bang on
The radiation is caused by the decay of the rock
It's the same with amethyst. If I remember correctly iron in the crystal changes from Fe3 to Fe4

I only been once but did very good Smiles
Apatite hunting is always fun!

Bugs were bad yesterday but I found some apatite and made a new video. I am going back real soon with the bug net.
Bugs are out in force early this year
Is it sad that I am trying to point out some of them on the screen and telling Meminer "there is one there".. lol
I saw them when editing. LOL
I wanna go look for something like that so bad
