Not everyone needs to be buddy-buddy. Masai is president of this team, that's his role. Kyle Lowry is their star PG, that's his role. Doesn't mean they need to be friends.

I love that Rachel put some effort into giving Kyle a chance to clear up the Masai comment so it wouldn’t be so open to interpretation even tho he decided not to. It’s really one of the qualities that her make stand out and imo makes her that much better than most NBA reporters
I also love that her show is the only one that will talk about teams other than the Lakers, Warriors, 76ers, Celtics, and Rockets.

@@malaki229 lol Lowry is way more efficient and just a more confident player under Kawhi than he ever was under Demar. With Demar, Lowry was under way more pressure to perform at an elite level because Demar wasn't a GREAT player. Playing alongside a truly elite player like Kawhi has taken the pressure off Lowry. He can now focus on just being a great #2 guy instead of being a co-#1 guy where the Raptors go as you go.
I think his life has more depth and substance than kawhi. Just saying
lowry is having one of the best years of his career and thats because of kawhi.. i think the raptors has the best record in the nba and a lot of that has to do with kawhi. demar really cant carry the raptors as well as how kawhi can carry a team and we shouldnt forget that kawhi is a new addition to this team but he immediately blended in and has a lot of chemistry.

Not really. We can't say that until the playoffs. Spurs made it last year fully health sans Kawhi. Now they have several key injuries plus loss manu and a new player im Derozan in a tougher conference.
Meanwhile the raptors looked dominant last season too. They choked in the playoffs. We will see what happens in the playoffs this year.

My bestfriend didn't get in to the team because he is a PF and we have a lot of tall kids in our class. He tried to be a tall PG and I tried teaching him how to pass and handle the ball (I'm a 6'1" PG) but he still didn't get in. I felt so sad that day. And now I just came back to this video because I can relate to Kyle.

I have been a long time raptors fan for a while since I was born and live in Toronto but Kyle Lowry should understand the general manager put the Raptors in a great position to win a championship right now. Lowry is not getting younger and Masai was tired of DeMar getting beat in the playoffs. I understand it’s his friend but he should be more happy that he has a opportunity to win a chip right now!!

this was a really strong interview by reporter and player! Rachel has earned respect through super hard work and dedication on ESPN. I used to be skeptical but she has proven to be a valuable reporter who can draw out the personalities and psychologies of the players.

I agree with you to an extent. Masai took over for Bryan Colangelo and the 1st thing he tried to do was trade Lowry to the Knicks for Iman Shumpert and a retiring Artest. The Knicks accepted then declined last second because Dolan is an idiot. Then they traded Gay and went on a winning streak after picking up Vasquez and Patterson. Dwayne Casey and Demar Derozan are the people that made Lowry who he is not to mention most importantly his family.

Masai even said that when he spoke to Demar about not being traded, another team was destined to take kawhi and raps seemed out of the picture... At that point in time Masai had no intention to trade... But things change and just imagine the backlash if it came out that we turned down kawhi and then went out in the second round again...
