I concur. I visited England for about 2 months. Although the people were very nice (once you get out of London lol) , the weather was less than desirable.
You get used to it after a while lol I like to think the rain and gloominess as well as the industrial environment in Birmingham in the 70's contributed to the sound Sabbath invented
The Best cover nyone has ever done for a sabbath song.......Phil's voice sounds like it is coming straight out of hell fire.....Love Sabbath and their rightful disciples Pantera.....
Pantera is just one of those bands that when you see that they covered a song it could very well be almost better if not totally on par with said original.

The way Dime pulls and bends the strings on the main riff with a TON of distortion makes it really dirty and funky at the same time. Love this version.
in my opinion, Black Sabbath is one of those bands who's songs are very hard to cover because the original is so great (Like the beatles, floyd, led zepp etc...) But only PanterA can take a Sabbath song and make it better!!
Really you like this better than the original? I'm a fan of both bands but no way this compares IMO. Plus, they didn't change anything, it's just a straight up cover, so how could it be better?
@@JKennedy442 vocals are very different than Ozzy's take. And I like them better. Also that solo has some added notes and extra wah. It sounds better this way as well.
You Know What!!! PANTERA did this PERFECT!!! I'm 40 and grew up listening to Sabbath! But the death of DIME was one of the saddest days for me ... He was A oneoff ...RIP Dime you LEGEND!!!!
I'm an old school Sabbath fan, seen um back in the day, loved um all my life, but I have to say that Pantera out did them on this song. And they did a pretty good job on Cat Sratch Fever too. Check it out if u haven't heard it. Enjoy!
Now for a positive comment that is actually on topic to the video. This was the song I heard that inspired me to pick up playing guitar, riding in the car and hearing it on the radio when I was a pre-teen. I've aspired to play guitar like this ever since. RIP Dimebag.
havnt heard this in a few, was just watchin an old sab vid and thought of it. they killed this. man i miss dime. \m/ \m/ reminds me of seein em with sab on the reunion tour a few times, what great shows.
Sabbath is the beggining of the metal esthetics !!! Heaviness and full punch, and lyrics that cover social taboos. Long life to sabbath, its like greek philosophy, alive and fresh as new in these days !!!!!! Long live Sabbath !!!
@INTOtheVOID11 True That Bro! I was fortunate to see Pantera open for Sabbath on the limited 25 date Black Sabbath Reunion Tour and... bowing on one knee the last thing that Phil said at the end of Pantera's set was "get ready to bow to the GOD THAT IS BLACK SABBATH" It was the 14th and final time that I had seen Pantera live and they were definately on their A game that night, but Sabbath made them look like amatuers, not an easy task! R.I.P. DIMEBAG!
Gotta give Pantera credit. This REALLY rocks. I'm an old-timer, so Sabbath's version (the original) is my fave. Don't get me wrong ... Pantera kicks a mean ass. Rock on.
Black Sabbath son los dioses...nadie puede hacer un cover mejor que el sonido original, es completamente estúpido, pero este de seguro es el mejor y el mas brutal...
Always one of my favourite covers This and Megadeath's never say die are my favourite sabbath covers by far Pantera is the best at sabbath covers tho, I never saw one show where they didnt do at least one, and didnt do it well And that was always when they looked like they were having the most fun up there too
@kylesooner11 In the liner notes to Black Box: The Complete Original Black Sabbath (1970-1978), Tony Iommi states that the song title comes from when "Geezer and Ozzy were smoking outside and witnessed fairies in the park, running around wearing boots. As far as Tony knows, it didn't come from an attack from skinheads."
I know everyone likes the original, but man... This, this is like black sabbath but more modern. It's fucking amazing. I love how the guitar doesn't sound muddy, and you can hear the bass a bit more clearer because of that, and phils voice well fuck, ozzy is good shit, but phil... Phil is just the shit. RIP Dime, I'm doing a cover of this one for my school, not black sabbath.. Kick ass
my god, tony iommi is just a fucking genius! he influenced so many bands and music genres. just imagine, he is creator of heavy metal, of doom metal and of thrash metal! songs like paranoid, iron man or the whole heaven and hell album are the beginnings of heavy metal, songs like black sabbath or into the void are doom metal and songs like symptom of the universe or hole in the sky were the beginning of thrash metal! just awesome this man!!
Anyway, idiotic comments aside, can we all just agree that Pantera blew the ass off this cover? Same with Cat Scratch Fever. No disrespect to the Nuge as a musician (although I really don't care for his political views), but in my mind, Pantera's version of CSF is how I always imagined it should have sounded. So raw.
"I'm living easy where the sun doesn't shine!" The UK in a nutshell!
😂😂😂 ah m8 our weather’s got some next bipolar issue atm
As an English native I can confirm this.
THE SYNONYMS OF ALL THE THINGS THAT I SAY

+ghiribizzi To quote Skwissgar, "Yes, this is metals....definitely not dildos"
I love this picture of the band

+domvarsalone eatingbanannas i like this better than sabbath's
It's a sick rendition but just can't beat Ozzy's high notes in the whole of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage
Not even close to sabbath Fuk off.
Pretty much certain
The swing on this version is filthy
List of bands that have ever done an acceptable cover of any Black Sabbath song:
1.PanterA
end of list.
jon lamar check out Never day die by Megadeth. Pretty awesome imo too!
Dio did great covers.
ever heard of the tribute album?
Don't hate on a guy here, but I was a fan of Anthrax's cover of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, but this was my favorite Sabbath song so it takes the cake
I'd love to hear someone cover The Writ/Blow on a Jug
The voice is fucking awesome
Not a big Pantera fan but what I love about them is that they love Sabbath and they HONOUR it!!! \,,/
"Not a fan" and "Pantera" in one sentence, wow....
He didn't say "not a fan", though.
Exactly! They're the only band I'll listen to Sabbath covers by
Pantera was, and is the best metal band ever!
Best cover of this song
the bit when he sings "hole in the sky" is simply epic
I'm looking through a hole in the sky
I'm seeing nowhere through the eyes of a lie

I'm living easy where the sun doesn't shine
I'm living in a room without any view

TbhIdc hole in the sky, take me to heaven*
Pantera's version of hole in the sky kicks the shit out of Mettallica's version.
you goddamn right!
Angela DeSilva It's actually a Black Sabbath song...but Pantera kills it!!!!
Angela DeSilva Yes ma'am. :)
Scott Brammer She knows that. She said Metallica's cover of it is inferior to this.
When did Metallica cover this song? was it a live recording?
This and CoC's cover of Lord Of This World are the best Sabbath covers ever made.
Planet caravan too
Phil was a huge fan of Black Sabbath and boy did he bring great covers (of course Dime, Vinnie and Rex contributed)
Damn. This is good
I thought they just covered Planet Caravan. Shows what I know.
Which ALSO Rocks :)
Electric Funeral too...

Yeah let's compare two bands that play different kinds of metal for no reason, because that makes sense?
