Sir, for Mutual Fund return calculation we can use XIRR. But for comparing two stocks’s return, we can use CAGR right? Because month on month investment illa sir in stocks, one time purchase only for the most part. Kindly clarify
Most of us buy our investment at different periods of time, not necessarily in SIP. For different dates of investment, XIRR gives you accurate return rate. You can use XIRR even if you have bought a stock just once. Or in other words, XIRR fits all situation to calculate the return rate of our investments.

I have a question, hope you can help clarify that. If I have a holdings of $30k in my portfolio and due to a need if I plan to sell $15k from it, on what criteria should I pick the assets(stocks and etfs) to sell? - sell stocks/ETFs that has given me good returns? - sell those that has not given good returns? - keep those that have potential to give good returns in future and sell others? - sell ones that were bought earliest and keep ones bought recently? - any other criteria?
