Good Morning Catherine, How are you ? I have genuinely fallen in love with this technique just because of the SPARKLE :-D I have spent years using food contact glitter which cant touch the cake and is costly just to decorate cake drums x I really wish i had known about this years ago x

Hi, lovely tutorial, thanks for sharing. Does the sugar shee melt or become soft over time since you applied it directly over the buttercream crumb coat?
How does this slice? Does the sugar sheet dry hard and brittle or does it stay soft so you can cut thru it?

Hi Claudia, If my memory serves me correctly i do think it is 4 of these that you will need in total, but remember to just make one at a time and apply it to the cake before you make the next one so the sugar does not crack when its bent ( it will do this if it is too cold and dry ) Thank you also for taking the time to leave feedback and i hope you have found it helpful

Question...it's said that sugar sheets harden after a while,if so how does that fair when it's time to cut the cake? Beautiful cake btw!
Think of a fondant covered cake and how soft the fondant is when you apply it, after a few hours it starts to dry and goes hard, but you can still cut into the cake beautifully. If you have never made your own homemade fondant this just uses the same ingredients minus gelatine and glycerol with a different sugar xx so think of it as fondant, but if your too slow applying it to a cake it will crack just like fondant would if you rolled it out and left it for a few hours before applying it x

It’s very pretty. However, what does it taste like? Sugar sheet doesn’t sound appetizing like buttercream.
R V C dudette it’s made of sugar, glucose and color. It’s going to taste of sugar 🙂

Can you please the temperature and time after take out from stencil??
I dont check the temp of the sugar sheet, you can tell when its ready by touching it, it will naturally come away from the mould and not be sticky. If it doesnt then it needs a bit longer in the oven

The same as a fondant cake, its the same ingredients as fondant just using a different sugar

Looks like so much detailed work...really is off the charts. No one teach's the top like you put on yours, have not seen this either...Thats why I would love to see that...Again thank you...Just WOW!

Hi I love this technique, but does this hold firm in a very hot weather?
Its the same recipe as fondant, minus two ingredients so i would say yes, im based in the UK and its cold here but it was left in a kitchen with the heating on and it didnt alter, i confident it would be perfectly fine

Just like a fondant covered cake , as it is basically the same recipe as fondant just minus a few ingredients and using a different sugar

How long do you leave them to cool when they come out if the oven. I tried it and it never went hard.

Hi what size is your cake?
Good Afternoon Rean, this was a 6 Inch Round cake as it was only made for tutorial purposes. If you use these molds make sure you have an even sized cake so 4,6,8,10,12,14 inch round ect. This ensures the pattern will meet from where it starts to where it finishes. It doesnt go Rock Hard but it hardens up enough to the wont where it has to be bent or wrapped around the cake otherwise it will crack. Its the same ingredients as fondant, minus two things, its just sugar x

Is the oven necessary? Or can we air dry?
You can Air dry but it just takes longer, maybe place your oven on the lowest setting, let it heat up, switch off, allow it to cool down slightly then place it in the oven for a few minutes. The left over heat should do the job for you

As soon as i made that first sugar sheet last week and realized just how easy they were I had so many ideas going through my head and this was one of them, i couldn't wait until i had the time to do an extra tutorial.
