This game's boss fights made me miss The Koopalings more than ever. The Wonder Flower could have been this group of 7's chance to differentiate from each other and do something unique with each character.
the boss fights were so disappointing that at some point it feels like anything else wouldve blown what we got out of the water. they legit feel like fortress boss fights not ones meant to wrap up a world, i would argue this even for the castle levels themselves as well.

@@Jay7707 nah, i meant what I said relative to the rest of the game. Issues like what they did to the bosses stand out a lot more here than it would if it was nsmbu or smth, because while they totally had the chance to create an entirely new boss that could thematically wrap and entire world up, instead we got only bowser jr, an obstacle in the airship that takes 2 jumps to beat, and all of it done in their own bubble of gimmicks. Thats why i thought bowser jr fights were more like fortress fights, because the disconnect really just makes it be some sort of interlude as opposed to an actual grand event the likes of what every other level is in regards to the effort otherwise put in.

Is that trying something? Even the wonder effects were a lot more lackluster than a lot of the stuff they did for other levels

I really didnt understand why they were cool with the wonder flowers transforming the player, but not bowser jr. Why did just the arena change and not bowser jr himself? He could have become a whole host of different things. With how much they came up with in other areas idk why we havent moved past the boss battles being the same.
When you make a game so good in most aspects, it really makes the not so great stuff stick out way worse.

@@theenderkirby I’ve only played the first 3 stages but from everything I’ve seen he does a good job in the role. I was surprised he voices BOTH Mario and Luigi cuz I was expecting a Mel Blanc scenario where they would need MULTIPLE actors to take on his roles
Honestly... it feels like most people fall on one of two sides:
They have either been around since close to, if not *the* beginning and are mature enough to give it a chance, and from what I can tell the reception is relatively positive... or they are younger and/or more mainstream and couldn't care less, maybe don't even notice. I am part of the first group and I think his voice sounds fine; Nintendo did well with their selection.

Great game but damn do I miss player collision. Made multiplayer chaotic but fun. Should have at least given us an option to turn it on/off.

The only problem I have with this game is how they had no deadline but failed at the boss battle like there was so much they could have done. Why wasn’t kamel a boss battle too?

it confused the heck out of me when i first played it on why i had a green check mark on the first level and not the second but I had it on the third, I mistakenly assumed it was because I watered the flower toad at the end of the level so I was running around level two for ages trying to find where I'd get water to water the flower toad lmao

About the special world access from world 3 and 5, there is an indicator, if you complete every level in those worlds, they give you a little check mark on the stage on the level viewer and then you notice that those two places don’t have them, revisiting them gives you that checkmark

Am I the only one who liked the talking flowers? They never felt annoying for me and they fitted with the flower kingdom. I laughed every time they talked (exept for the "Hi" and "That was somehing", of course). I think people are being unfair to them, their purpose is to make the world feel more alive and to cheer up the player. I lost count to how many times I laughed at something they said😢
For me he had his moments and felt like a traveling companion in a sense. Even then, I recall in the Bowser stage he was annoying, due to voice change, but still pulled off a chuckle from me with his last line before Bowser

This game is soo good. It’s a bit too easy which makes it great as a family game. I do wish there were more bosses though. Seemed really lackluster there.

The game is super fantastic but I do agree with you with the playable characters. 3 toads and 4 yoshis is just kinda infuriating cuz I would rather have Wario Waluigi & Rosalina as playable characters then just a bunch of Toads and Yoshis. They honestly could have did that but they chose not too which really is annoying but other then that this game is fantastic!
Edit: Also the bosses are kind of a let down too with most of them just being Bowser Jr but apparently the Wonder Flowers give out Boss fights too… it just you don’t technically fight then you just have to avoid them and survive… but hey I’ve said this a lot of times if I can count a game of Musical Chairs against an Alien Chick as a boss fight I still count those Wonder Trips as Boss fights as well.. at least ones that you have avoid giant monsters like King Boo.
Not really because Wario has no place in the game and Waluigi.... ummmmm, anyway Rosaline is overused at this point and there was only 3 Toads and Yoshi variety will remain supreme forever.

The fact that the Goomba level in the Special World gave me way more trouble than the secret final level reminds me of when the level where you roll across a road on a time limit in Mario Odyssey gave me more trouble than the Darker Side.
Bruh the rhythm stages (especially the 2nd) gave me Rayman legends flashbacks
That goomba level in world special was actually the hardest level imo, mainly just because I died from lack of patience by how slow the level was moving really

My biggest and only gripe is that you cant pickup items while on top of them like you could in the “new” series, you has to hop off and pick them up from the sides only. Thats fine, I’m just used to doing it the way from before.

The Yoshi critique will never not confuse me cuz everyone is saying they made Yoshi easy mode when he's playing the exact same way he always had in 2D Mario games. This is just the first time he's playable by himself (plus I think eating enemies and flutter jumping is way more easy mode than invincibility is)
And I think the not being able to use power ups in exchange for invincibility is a pretty good trade off ngl
It's just so confusing to me that people are complaining about Yoshi playing the same as he always has but saying it's different
Honestly maybe they could've put him a health system, so no power ups but you can flutter jump without a badge, eat enemies, and can take up to, let's say, 6 hits
Also he was never playable in a Mario game, only 64DS, he was playable in the Yoshi games, both of those have Yoshi act differently, the version of Yoshi in this game is the Mario games one (not 64ds as he has a health system and can make an egg, maybe they should've done that)
@@mariotheundying I think adding in a health system would just be overcomplicating it honestly and wouldn't really add much (6 health would also be double the health if you consider Mario having 3 health when he has a power-up. Also I don't think it'd be really common to get hit 6 times in the same level. Possible ofc but unlikely and at that point why not just have blanket invincibility) especially when falling in pits is the greater threat plus yoshi does get bumped around as well
And yeah he's never been playable by himself but in any 2D Mario game where Yoshi is available he's been invincible I believe. If you get hit riding yoshi he starts running in a panic and only dies when he falls in a pit. Wonder is just the first game where you can actually play as that Yoshi solo. He basically acts the exact same as he has in previous 2D Mario games though
You're thinking of the Yoshi's Island games where he has Baby Mario on his back and when his gets hit he has to save Baby Mario. In other games (e.g. Yoshi's Woolly World & Crafted World, Yoshi's Story, Super Mario Run) he takes damage or dies.
Imma still keep the naming tradition in our hearts of Triggered & Mindblowing.

I don't know if it's only you, but the final challenge level did give me some trouble, especially with the Spring Feet part.
Also there are indicators for those ones yoy mentioned about the poplin houses in World 3 and 5. If you haven't completed everything in a certain level (ex: you didn't find a secret exit yet) the course will not have a check mark in the Course selection.
Also I don't care if the Bubble Flower's gimmick isn't original it's still my favorite new power-up out of the 3 we got.

NGL the penguin suit is overrated.
This game was fun but it's way too short and there wasn't enough boss encounters. I feel like i fought 3 bosses the whole game. Some worlds didn't even have a boss at the end. Idk about a perfect 10 score I'd say it was more of a 7/7.5 out of 10
“Way too short” The hard ass special world levels made up for it
“Not enough bosses” The main point is the level gimmick of the wonder flower, not no bosses imo
@@ptanker9236 the game was too short for a $60 game. I picked it up the friday it came out and beat it that weekend. The special world levels weren't even that hard and there's no excuse to not have a boss at the end of every world. Every Super Mario game has had a boss encounter at the end of every world since like 1986

@@JBird401 1. Mario Wonder is supposed to be a sequel to Super Mario World, and this makes a great sequel, hell, the 2D Mario games are insanely replayable too, being played across multiple decades.
