Hi Jacob. We always stay at these hotels, New York, Luxor, MGM or Mirage. All we do is a upgrade and it only costs maybe 20 more a night and we've been very satisfied with everything. To us it's worth it just to spend a little more.
Jacob I have been doing exactly what you said for over 30 years when I go to Vegas. Back in the day, for me it was the Frontier the Riviera the Hilton. Now today it's been the Sahara, The Flamingo, and the Westgate. You're right I'm out and about why spend big bucks on a room when you're not going to be there as much.
Awesome video Jacob!!! I partially agree with you. You should be flexible with where and when you stay in Vegas. You should compare multiple options when planning your trip. You should combine hotel and airfare. I am coming to Vegas on September 12 and I am staying at the Venetian for 4 nights. I am bringing 2 friends with me. The total cost for the trip with resort fee included is 1,817.38. This includes 2 hotel rooms and airfare for 3 people. I did not use any points or comps to get this deal.
I am a older single guy, I really don't give a crap what people think. I have two Sons in or very close to their 30's. My go to place is Flamingo with a King Bed, Strip view. Flamingo is Center Strip. Like mentioned before, it gives me an extra chance to see a show, gamble more, eat more etc.
Yes. For me my first time in Vegas I stayed at Silver Sevens and I was happy. My upcoming trip I splurged on a week stay at Bellagio because i wanted the experience of a nicer hotel. Weekday rates plus free credits makes a higher end resort more valuable. Wynn and Venetian are amazing properties. You can decide to split your rooms between deals.
Absolutely love the way you design your videos, especially having fun on a lower budget. Many people have families, increasing costs of everything. Thanks so much, Jacob! I got a great flight/hotel deal at the Excalibur (first time staying there) this spring, was funny how you quickly mentioned the Ex in this vid 😂
I go through Expedia and found great deals on many of them, but for my dates, the El Cortez was the best! And if I want to see the other Hotels, I can take the bus or walt all up and down the strip.
Jacob, one you might add is the Signature @ MGM {the towers behind/North of MGM. While actually not on the strip, they do connect to the strip thru MGM Grand. The best thing about the Signature is that most {all?} rooms have a full kitchen {full size refrigerator/stove/microwave} so if you are staying for a few days, you can save on breakfast and it is a great place to store the leftovers from the fancy dinner. We come to LV 6-8 times a year and usually stay at the Signature since buying drinks at the local Smith's is a lot cheaper than paying $4.00 for a Coke. Plus if you are a plane junky like me, get the balcony overlooking the McCarran and watch the planes at night.
I get what you are saying. But you can usually find very good rates for the 5 star resorts. Most are much cleaner inside and the rooms are much cleaner also. And it kinda weeds out the trashy people
Been going to Vegas for 25 years now. Best bang for your buck is ballys center strip. Big standard rooms and very affordable. Paris is a good bet as well as is Planet Hollywood. Book at these places save a ton of $ and then visit Bellagio or Ceasars.
To me, "location" is what I look for. That means, hotels such as Mirage, Caesars Palace, Bellagio as my favorites. ((But Luxor and New York/New York are good values...just away from the "center"))
Harrahs flamingo and Bally’s are super central AND Budget friendly! Caesars, Bellagio, cosmopolitan are really nice to treat myself with but I’ve honestly found myself staying at the Harrahs more often than the others! go there if you haven’t already and are looking to be central.
@@lifeandloveabundance eh, I prefer to walk either way! I could walk the strip all day/night but I just love being able to step right outside and be in the middle of all the “action”
@@Lockguy_22 that’s also an illusion, because the strip can have action all up and down , anywhere. I know what you’re tryna get at, because I just stayed at flamingo recently and they have that little alley between the linq that has all those restaurants etc (and the high roller wheel) … there’s a lot of people over there but basically just a bunch of tourists , just like yourself that are drunk and or trying to showboat their arrogance…. I prefer downtown (The D hotel) or even staying off the strip totally, like alliante , red rock or Summerlin
@@lifeandloveabundance everything is an illusion with you. David Copperfield over here… 😂😂 You’re not wrong about being a tourist getting drunk n showboating our arrogance. Nailed that one on the head. Can’t justify staying off the strip though. Had a couple in my group last time that did stay off the strip and the red rock was gorgeous but I’m young and just prefer to be on the strip. But hey, maybe one day! I do want to stay in downtown sometime though! I don’t drive to Vegas anymore so that’s a factor. Don’t wanna Lyft everywhere or rent a car. Not worth it to me. I fly in, lyft to my hotel. And That’s typically all the time spent in a car till I head back to the airport.
For ME, I completely agree. I care about a clean room that's as quiet as possible. (Quiet is hard to find downtown.) All I do is sleep there. Paying for any other luxury is a waste of money. Now, I don't have the budget that some people do in Vegas. I'm not a huge gambler, so I don't get a ton of comps.
The strip wants all your money before you even start your trip , room rates and resort fees and parking even the budget friendly places now add up to about $200 a night with all the fees .. No thank you , we have now taken our business off the strip …Sams Town is our new home ..
You should have discussed more of the options away from the Strip and DT. Red Rock is probably my favorite. But, there are the Station Casinos, Cannery and other big chain hotels without a casino. Granted, you may have to rent a car. But, it still widens your options. Especially, where to eat at a bargain. If you're into table games, the casinos on the Strip tend to have higher limits with the minimum bets of at least $25. Newbies with a tight budget would be better off away from the Strip and DT for those reasons.
You could mention if you get the credit cards Mlife Mastercard and Caesars Visa, you get the next tier which gives you free parking last time I checked.
I stay at the Wynn or the Bellagio every time. My favorite restaurants are in the hotel so I don't have to leave the property to eat, there's not a bunch of annoying kids like at the cheaper places and it's a better atmosphere all around. I don't spend a lot on gambling or on partying so a $300/night room is well worth it.
One time I was in Vegas for a conference at the Convention Center. The room at the main hotel was on the order of a Truck Motel Stop quality. And that was the main hotel for a major conference which usually happens at Caesar's or MGM Grand or Paris at a discounted rate of $219/night. I went online, found a 2 room suite at the Flamingo for $139. Got the rate because it was a same-day rate for a room that was going to be empty. Best conference room I ever had. Came with a full kitchen with dining area, whirlpool tub, living room area with a couch and 2 large chairs, desk space for 2 people in addition to the large bedroom and large bath with 2 sinks. You can live a lot better when traveling on company business without breaking the bank.
Very good point Jacob! You are only going to use your hotel for sleeping. So no need to reserve/get a room at the high end properties if you are looking to save some $$$ and maximize your trip to Vegas.
I usually stay at either Excalibur or luxor with 4 nights comped (except for resort fees and taxes) and i always have a great time. Last weekend i stayed at planet Hollywood and i still had fun but i felt out of place. I'll stick with my end of the strip methinks.
First time I went to Vegas I had 2 nights comped at The Sahara because they have a sister property in Reno which is closer to where I live in the bay area.
Location can be more important than the number of diamonds linked to the property. The difference between the Mandalay Bay's rooms and Aria/Bellagio is pretty negligible, but location is significant. The difference between rooms at Paris/Planet Hollywood vs Ceasars is negligible and so is location.
100% I always stay at the nicest comped hotels I get. I've stayed at Delano and Vdara for free and they are really nice, but normally I'm stuck at NYNY, Park, PH,Flamingo or even Luxor and Excalibur! A bed's a bed!
I typically use my comps for my stay. My trip in November, I didn’t see my typical comps at the mlife properties. I booked a southwest vacation for about $500 includes round trip airfare and a 3 night stay at the Venetian. I still have the resort fee to pay. I thought that was a good deal.
@@carasmussen27 do you have the Amex Platinum card? If you book a 2 night stay or longer with the card it gives a $200 hotel credit plus you get $100 Food and Brevage credit. It made my 2 night stay later this month effectively $89
Hi Jacob, this was posted on my birthday! I normally stay at the Excalibur, but I stayed at the Stardust for many years until it closed down, then at the Rivera until that closed down, after that I stayed at Circus Circus a few times and I tried the Harrah's a few times, I stayed Downtown twice at the Plaza and back staying at the Excalibur. The resorts fees don't really bother me, it's only the free parking that matters though because it's hard walking to far places I wanna go. Next time, I visit I will keep in mind on your great tips! 👍🏻
It really depends. If I bring the old lady we gotta stay at a higher end place but if I go out there to play poker I can just do Bally's or maybe even out at The Orleans. The fancy places are okay but the room isn't the only thing that costs more. The food is MUCH more expensive at the high end resorts.
Just came back from there! Spent 2 nights at the Hoover dam lodge. Casino, eateries all the same. And went to other ventures at the same time. 110 bucks a night. Greatness.
Just stayed at Ballys for 4 nights. Great location and a monarail stop at the hotel. Room was perfect because all I did was sleep there. Otherwise like you said in the video you are out and about checking things out 😉 I can't justify spending the money to have a room at bellagio or ceasars 🤷🏼♀️
Hey Mandy, did you check-in at the normal time 4pm or did you do the early check-in or do they allow earlycheck-in again??? Bally's is my go to when I'm down there.
First trip to Vegas i stayed at Park MGM as i was seeing the Queen and Adam Lambert show there. Did not have a clue where anything was and had a great time walking up from that end finding everything. Last time i stayed at Hooters just before it became OYO. All staff in both properties looked after me very well and am looking at either one of them when i make it back over from UK again.
Going this Sunday May 22 Got two rooms at the Venetian for 76 and 69 dollars a night. I’m an Excalibur kinda income guy so being able to grab those rooms at that price was a once in a life time. Now I’m afraid I’m gonna get spoiled. But I like the cheesiness of the Excalibur so I won’t complain.
I'm not a high roller but do come with a grand or two. Have not paid for a room in Vegas for over 12 years. I started out at Luxor but found being a large fish in a small pond has paid off nicely. Go to places The Orleans Rio and my all-time fav. Green Vally Ranch and Red Rock. I like being off the strip as the strip for me is WAY too many people and I get better comps off.
I usually stay off the strip, my number one stay is at the Marriott around paradise rd. Just alot less traffic and you have coffee in the rooms as well. Theirs about three of them off paradise rd alone, all have restaurants to include a bar. But if I had to fly in to Vegas, I wouldn't mind Treasure island. Plus no resort fees or any other hidden fees that you would find on the strip. Usually for me I leave the hotel room late, probably around noon, and I'm an early morning guy so I like to stay in a very comfortable room. Marriott does a good job everytime.
Jacob. You should do a video on how to get free parking everywhere. The M life offers free parking with the pearl card and Caesar’s offers free parking with the platinum card. These cards are easy to get.
Generally in my experience I tend to stay mid tier last year when the Venetian and the Wynn had specials for Healthcare workers i spent two nights at the Venetian and was blown away as to how nice it was overall (I'd literally have to only go once or twice a year if I didn't go as much to stay there) I spent one night at the Wynn and was absolutely disappointed in the room it felt generic and they literally charged for every single nook and crany which just ruined the experience (maybe to rich for my blood 🤷🏾♂️) The Venetian will always have my heart
The Venetian was gigantic when my wife and I visited we stayed across the street at The Mirage but it was very neat. Feels like you have to go through an entire shopping mall at all these big hotel properties.
My wife liked to stay at the big newer Hotel/Casinos. Those were usually on Las Vegas Blvd. I like the properties that are not on Las Vegas Blvd. Who wants to wait on line for an hour or more waiting on lines? Preferably, not me. Good to know about some of the value properties. I myself would prefer to stay off strip.
Great info and considerations for first timers. Location can be really important plus pools (if pools are important to you). Booking ahead is fine, it is great if you can be a little versatile on the exact days. Usually Sundays thru Thursday nights rock. If you are in town for more than three nights and can rent a car for at least one afternoon, Red Rock loop is a must.
Maximus was in Vegas 2 weeks ago. Stayed at Planet Hollywood for $50/weeknight, $100 Friday Saturday. That's way cheaper than South Beach, his former playground. PH is right on the strip, plus it's a Ceazars property! Earn points towards future stays, cabanas, ect. GET A CEAZARS PLAYERS CARD!!!! I use my card at Ceazars properties here in Chicago as well
Great information Jacob! I typically get comped when I am in Vegas due to the gambling I do at the Caesars casinos near me. Everything you said makes sense so thank you for the share😊
I only stay at Caezar’s property since it’s comped. I agree though for people that aren’t comped. In my 20’s I always looked for deals & divided with my friends. We hardly slept anyways.
Normally I follow your advice, but for my birthday I had to experience Cosmopolitan at least once and I loved it. But Excalibur is still my home. I use the extra money to explore the valley and do more things
I came to Vegas a couple months ago with family for my birthday. My brother who was organizing the trip refused to stay anywhere but Wynn. Anything like Luxor is considered complete trash to him. While the hotel was nice and I had some good food there, I thought the experience was excessive. We were only in the room for a few hours a day so I saw no point to the expense. Due to the extreme heat we also spent more time driving due to being on the end of the strip.
Who uses this strategy when planning a Vegas vacation?
I 100% agree with this strategy. Planet Hollywood has been my go to mid tier property since 2004.

Good advice, Jacob, thanks - and applies about anywhere, not just in Las Vegas.
Plus if you are a plane junky like me, get the balcony overlooking the McCarran and watch the planes at night.
good choice
Great video Jacob! I like your strategy
I get what you are saying. But you can usually find very good rates for the 5 star resorts. Most are much cleaner inside and the rooms are much cleaner also. And it kinda weeds out the trashy people
I love staying at The Elara because the bang you get for your buck is amazing and totally worth it
Hi from the Bay Area. Good tips, as always. My wife goes to that church in the background when we are in town on the weekends 😬
Thank you!
Great info and so true. Thanks and take care.
Thanks, you too!
Been going to Vegas for 25 years now. Best bang for your buck is ballys center strip. Big standard rooms and very affordable. Paris is a good bet as well as is Planet Hollywood. Book at these places save a ton of $ and then visit Bellagio or Ceasars.
I love this video.. I do this when I come to Vegas.. I'm only in my room to sleep....
“Location” is an illusion on the strip… the strip isn’t that big, don’t be lazy… just take a walk or the tram or bus
David Copperfield over here… 😂😂
You’re not wrong about being a tourist getting drunk n showboating our arrogance.
I'm not a huge gambler, so I don't get a ton of comps.
my favorite hotel is Excalibur, we always stay there when we see family in Vegas
Sams Town, alliante and Green Valley Ranch casino
@@GaMeBoYDaN1 - Alliante is nice 👌
Orleans and Gold Coast are always good $5 3 Card Poker at night makes for a fun evening with always full tables.
That would be a story for another vid
Great tips ! Thanks for the video
Glad it was helpful!
You could mention if you get the credit cards Mlife Mastercard and Caesars Visa, you get the next tier which gives you free parking last time I checked.
That’s what I did, also got a free dinner, and a week deal for a free room to be used by 2/22.
Nice Dominic! I can see your reasoning why you would choose to stay at the nicer properties
You make a very good point. But at my age location and convinces over rides cost. So it Aria, Nomad, Vadra and Bellagio for me.
Mandalay Bay for being on Strip is the best value going! Far enough away but right there. Best pools by far!
When in Las Vegas I usually stay at Hotels in Downtown / Old Las Vegas
I'm checking out which ones have the best value. I like the strat, but I'll keep looking.
I got a good flight/hotel for the excalibur this spring. Never stayed there before. Is it ok? Thank you. I value quiet room and hard beds.
Great video Jacob, strategies we are gonna use when we are in Vegas next.
Thanks Winston! Hope the trip goes well! (Whenever you're finally able to get across the borderr)
When I go to Vegas....I always get complimentary rooms; free-play and no resort fees. I guess they like me.
Great tips Jacob. -S
That is a good deal, nice.
I always use my comps. Although I am thinking of staying at South Pointe for my next trip. Possibly downtown.
How was Venetian? Every time I check it is way too expensive.
@@carasmussen27 do you have the Amex Platinum card? If you book a 2 night stay or longer with the card it gives a $200 hotel credit plus you get $100 Food and Brevage credit. It made my 2 night stay later this month effectively $89
I love Circus Circus everytime I'm in Vegas I usually stay at Circus Circus AWESOME!!!!!
Thank you Suzy...and happy birthday!
Great advice,thanks Jacob!
Was that the international airport behind you in the last part of your vlog? Once again another great video mate.
I usually stay at Flamingo for just that reason. It's a good hotel with an excellent location. You can walk easily to Venetian or Cosmopolitan.
@Sox Rox
Good tips. Thanks.
You bet!
For those who don’t mind staying a bit further away from The Strip,
Virgin Hotel Las Vegas doesn’t charge a resort fee.
Not to mention the rooms are GORGEOUS , boho style hotel I loved it there!
Jacob. You should do a video on how to get free parking everywhere. The M life offers free parking with the pearl card and Caesar’s offers free parking with the platinum card. These cards are easy to get.
I never pay for a room in LV. I just catch some zzzzzzz's by sneaking into the back of Wonderhussy's pickup truck 🤣🤣
Isn't that the lot where they filmed Chow jumping out of the trunk in "The Hangover"?
Absolutely 💯
Lol I was just down where you are there's my car in the background lmfao
My wife liked to stay at the big newer Hotel/Casinos. Those were usually on Las Vegas Blvd. I like the properties that are not on Las Vegas Blvd. Who wants to wait on line for an hour or more waiting on lines? Preferably, not me. Good to know about some of the value properties. I myself would prefer to stay off strip.
My go to cheap property is Flamingo. Booked a mini suite with a strip view for $60. Great casino, great pool, amazing location
I use my card at Ceazars properties here in Chicago as well
MAXIMUS! WHERE YA BEEN?!?!?! GOOD TO SEE YOUR NAME IN THE COMMENTS AGAIN 😎
Casino Royale was free parking when I visited in 2019 and was a great location without high fees
Casino Royale is great.
I'm a Ceasars player . . . I'll stay at one of their properties !
Great information Jacob! I typically get comped when I am in Vegas due to the gambling I do at the Caesars casinos near me. Everything you said makes sense so thank you for the share😊
De nada Sherri 😃
I only stay at Caezar’s property since it’s comped. I agree though for people that aren’t comped. In my 20’s I always looked for deals & divided with my friends. We hardly slept anyways.
Normally I follow your advice, but for my birthday I had to experience Cosmopolitan at least once and I loved it. But Excalibur is still my home. I use the extra money to explore the valley and do more things
Nice Bron!
@@JacobslifeinVegas I've learned that sometimes we had to step out of our comfort zone to expand our RUclips channel especially me trying to get to 1k
I'm staying at the Ex this spring, is it ok?
@@bailey-k6b yes, I like it. It has a big casino, food court, comfortable beds, and walk in shower
As Tom Bodett always said, all rooms look the same when you turn the lights off.
True but as Jacob has shown on his other video things will eat you in some of the rooms.
🤣
For me it’s tshirt and shorts the entire time! And Sam’s Town!
sahara is the best value for me and its always great.
Silver Sevens and El Cortez are all you really need. Nice and very affordable rooms
Ill be taking my family to vegas soon we are staying at the mgm for 2 nights and the bellagio 1 night but all comped
That's awesome! Enjoy the trip with the family!
