  • We built the iconic 1959 Topps baseball set, and in this series, we’re going through every card to talk about the players, teams and people who made up major league baseball in 1959. Today, we’ll cover cards 278 through 285 in the set. This includes Ernie Johnson Sr., the longtime voice of the Braves on broadcast television who had been an ace reliever for the franchise. We also go over All-Star 2B Frank Bolling, Dodgers WS pinch-hit hero Chuck Essegian, and Cardinals star Joe Cunningham, who had his best season in 1959.
Today's episode was written by Abby and Jake T. O'Donnell.

The Bolling card has a great backgound of Yankee Stadium. 1959 Topps is a beautiful set.

Great little bios on forgotten MLB players. Never knew Ernie Johnson was born in Brattleboro, VT. Been Brattleboro plenty of times in earlier years since my family is from Vermont! FYI, Cartlon Fisk is the only Vermonter in the HOF.

@@mikesbaseballcards I played in HS at a field in Claremont NH where Fisk played. Right on the VT border.
