The reason for this is because a lot of traffic either leaves or joins from the M25, thats why only 1 lane is needed because not much traffic travels along it. 2:30 to 6:38 The smart motorway section with all lanes running and the hard shoulder removed turning it into a permanent running lane, giving 4 lanes total. Variable speed limits also apply. This was first opened on Friday 30th June 2017. 2:30 to 6:35 The first concrete barrier section 7:00 to 7:37 The second concrete barrier section 8:40 to 9:30 The third concrete barrier section 11:56 to 15:08 Only 2 lanes southbound, again that's because the traffic count between junction 8 and 9 isn't so high. The northbound side does have a section where it goes to 3 lanes again shortly after junction 9 before Winchester Services but only for a short distance before it goes back to 2 lanes before Winchester services is reached. 12:32 to 14:07 Is the concrete section Extra facts are that this motorway first opened in 1971 and was fully completed in 1995. This motorway is 58.6 miles in length or 94.3km, making it the 9th longest motorway in the UK. I hope you enjoy all this information, it took me a long time to add all the timestamps. Happy motoring 😀

Wish I could get from Southampton to London in 20 minutes!
Maybe it is possible in Germany. I (at least mostly always) go 150 mph.
Always on this motorway when I go to the southwest
I like this Motorway, brilliant video showcasing it :)
Thank you.
Thank you! Used it as a tip to get to farnborough
Heaps of traffic banked up heading into London.

How long does it normally take to go from London to Southampton?
Depending on traffic conditions it should take about 2.5 hours from centre to centre.
The only motorway without lamp posts.
Unless you count each ends
@Ozzy-does-stuffthe M45 doesn't have any anymore
What’s the speed limit on this motorway 🧐🧐
70 mph
