    How lucky is Lilly to have such a great grandfather. Nothing better than immersing a child in music and letting her decide what she loves.

    I smiled the whole time watching your video! Your granddaughter will always remember these times spent with you and the songs will bring back memories for her-i have that with my dad, certain songs bring me back to sitting in the back of our old station wagon. Keep on explaining, it will bring her appreciation for music which IMO makes for a certain breed of adult.

    Nice lil lady, your granddaughter! I'm having four and also four boys, so I can feel how it is, to let them grow up with a little help from us, so they can build up their own mind. One thing, you should explain to her: The Bee Gees gave all songrights of this track completely to UNICEF! Nearly 16 million dollars up to now. And the cashflow doesn't end so every time, that song gets airplay worldwide, UNICEF gets the money from GEMA.

    Grandfather, some of this info is for you. Share what you think is okay for her to know about.
    Don't forget to tell her about Andy Gibb. Andy was 12 (maybe 13 years) younger than Barry. Robin (on the left, long hair) passed away 2012 from cancer. He was 62 yrs old. Maurice (right, not that much hair like his brothers) passed away in 2003. He was 53 yrs old. He was in the hospital for 3 days before he passed away, for surgery on a twisted intestine, but then he had a heart attack. Barry said the doctors still operated anyway. Andy, the youngest, passed away 1988 from heart problems. He died 1988, a few days after his 30th birthday. The first born is their sister Lesley. She was 77 in January 2022. She really didn't have an interest in singing, but she can sing. Barry said, "He is the last man standing." Barry is 75 yrs old. He and his wife, Linda have been married for 50 yrs. They have 5 children (4 boys and daughter) and 7 grandchildren. It's interesting that their sister was the first born, followed by the 4 brothers. Barry has 4 sons that were born first, followed by his daughter. They have sold over 220 million records. I'm quite sure more by now. Barry is still singing, before a LOT of people!! He is loved by many!!

      @@Lilly8Listens After listening very briefly to the artist you mention, I understand your concern...Have the kids ever heard Puff the Magic Dragon or Ray Stevens Everything is Beautiful or Louis Armstrong's Beautiful World? I could go on but because of your channel I'm finding new ABBA songs I never heard and pulling out my Cass Elliot CDs. The Mamas and the Pappas had a great sound with her but she was lovely too on her own. Anyway, thanks a lot and now I'll go find some Tony Bennett.

    • @Lilly8Listens
      @Lilly8Listens  2 года назад +1

      @@09EAC I think Beautiful world might be a tough one to find, I'm sure you mean What a Wonderful World, and that's a great song, but one that if you watch Louis Armstrong singing it on You Tube just doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the studio version, but if you listen to the studio version your just staring at a picture of the record sleeve. I've watched people react to the live version, and I've always thought they aren't getting the true picture because the studio version is so much better.

      They are one of the most iconic groups ever. Barry is the oldest of four boys. Maurice, and Robin the twins are in the middle. Andy was the youngest and had a brief solo career. He died before the the 80’s I believe. I was an impressionable youth in those days. I loved all their music. To me the best music came out in the 70’s and 80’s and it would be difficult to change me mind about it. Thank you chatting with me. I’m across the pond from you.

    Bringing up kids to listen to music is to be applauded, good music, where they don't have to hear all the profanities in some of the stuff released these days. l call it stuff because it has no musical talent involved, just electronic gimmickry and technological misdirection.

    Maurice battled alcoholism for years which probably contributed to his early demise like younger brother Andy who had died from inflammation of the heart from years of drugs and alcohol. Im not sure about Robin other than to me he always looked kind of sickly after he got up into his 40s and beyond.

    • @debbienewton909
      @debbienewton909 2 года назад +9

      Maurice died of a heart attack during surgery for a twisted bowel and blockage. Andy had a virus that went to his heart, which indeed may have been weak from the cocaine, but he was clean and sober at the time. Robin had cancer, I think colon cancer, and battled it for years before it just took over and he died exactly 10 years ago today. :'( Thankful Barry is still around and he will be 76 Sept. 1st :-)
