i love distortion on everything a little goes a long way it has a way of lowering the peaks and raising the body of the whatever you put it on and then you get to use filters it to tone
Joe i just came across your channel about a week ago. I downloaded studio one for the first time. Had no idea how to mix anything. Thanks to your channel Ive almost completed my first rock recording song. Thank brother.
I Been Watching You Over A Decade Almost I believe 😵💫. since u had those weird speakers looking… The Presonus Mixer Video. And All The Presonus Content but never Used The Software till now …. AND IM LOVING IT.
Gonna have to try it out. Great vocals btw. I just finished an Op Ivy cover…might play around with the distortion. I use Logic so gonna have to see what’s there as far as plugins.
One cool takeaway from this video for me was seeing Joe drag the RedLight plugin from the channel’s insert directly onto the Delay plugin window to add it after the delay without having to view the FX bus. As a new Studio One user, that was cool to see.
Maybe it is worth to mention that for the delay option the mix knob in the delay plug-in must be 100% wet or near, so that you have only the delayed sound in that fx track, so that you have distortion only in the delayed sound.
During a recent session in my home studio, the entire track became distorted after recording. I am seeking a solution to clean and clarify the track, but I need help. but you adding it
Hey, Joe! Great stuff as always. Isn’t there a risk of phase issues when using the parallel method? What about recording a second vocal (doubling) track and processing that?

Phase is not really an issue in this case. Saturation adds harmonics and already produce a comb filtering effect. In fact this very comb filtering effect is what is searched for when adding saturation, to add richness to the vocal or source. Because this effect can also reduce clarity (saturation is a nice tool to tame harshes cymbals in overheads for example), it is better to use it in parallel for lead vocals.
Damn this redlight plugin sound EXACTLY like vocals from the strokes. And i have a lot of distortion plugins, they nerver sound like this. What the hell

The Leslie speaker plug-in needs a shout out, that thing is sick.🤖📼
OMG. Thanks Joe. I've been trying to get that exact sound. I came real close to it on my last mix. Now I have another tool to check out

😀I found on the “Big Meanie” effect on that will give a harmonica he old blues sound✨Thank you Joe for the awesome help you inform us all on✨🌜
Nice video, the delay trick is really interesting. Gotta try it !
Very helpful❤❤
Lord Huron! I love doing this technique.
Sorry but your singing is really really good
It's a random vocal audio sample from some sample pack.
I made the same mistake until I realized many of these youtubers are using the same samples.
@@figaro-dg5c5 It's definitely his voice. You notice if you compare to his singing videos over at Home Studio Corner
@@djentlover you might be right.
@@figaro-dg5c5 Btw jos oot suomalainen ni moro :D
Ai, katos, moro moro. Kiva törmätä netissä. :)
That's nice man..Bruh, you know I've never used slap delay.. EVER.. I am now.. Thank you again my man.
Thanks for this. I could never get it to sound the way I wanted when I tried to add distortion to a vocal.

If you listen to the radio EVERY vocal has this. Compressed to all hell and has that 2nd take with distortion to add the grit
Great video! Final sound at the 9:06 mark sounds really cool. Sounds like an amazing song/track. Is this a new song?

Motown used to feed a vocal into another channel which they heavily compressed and blended in with the main vocal channel.
This reminded me of that Damon Albarn/Gorillaz vocal sound. Very breathy, with a touch of grit. I’ve never been able to mimic it.
I use Nebula Saturation Pres and Colors....with Avalon Setting.....and the Magic Death Eye Comp...Stereo...to thickin up my vocals.......
Top 👌
Mix Box...will work......
I use the Red Light District all the time.
Another good trick is use a Tube Screamer if you have one
Oh man I use this plugin on literally every vocal
it is funny. It sounds like a female voice in the distorted delay. I liked.
Nice tools for my tool belt
hey can you do a joey valence and brae vocal mixing tutorial? many peeps would love to learn :)

@ Thank you!
Hard tube on metal hard panned dubbed screams is interesting. Mixed with other more traditional dub scream processing.
I saturate pretty much all my vocals, and quite a few other tracks. Helps to shave off some dB too...
I don’t understand duplicating the track when you can use a send and do the exact same thing on that insert?
Can this be used in fl studio
Damn this redlight plugin sound EXACTLY like vocals from the strokes. And i have a lot of distortion plugins, they nerver sound like this. What the hell
Ok but… how you do it live ?
put it on the splitter and distort the hell out of half of it
Song title pls
Please why is Graham not taking the classes again??
There was a video posted on this channel a while ago explaining this. Just look back on the previous videos and you should find it.

Let your slapback freak flag fly buddy!
Who's Joe 😂 where's the other guy gone?
Instead of copying the vocals you could just send to a new track
