gopros are so good now, and no need to reencode the footage, just concatenate. zero processing, barely more than copying a file, ffmpeg concat and upload. library computer can do it, no matter what the resolution is. say no to re-encoding i say. this is a very fringe opinion, everybody thinks you need to re-encode. i'm telling you, that's bogus. if you really need to cut, you can use losslesscut, just don't expect a frame perfect output. (again, zero processing) of course this is only if you're a hobbyist, for a proper operation puttering about with ffmpeg concatenated footage would be unacceptable. i just don't want to spend processing power on useless re-encoding. it's a complete waste. so your colours are 2 cents of a cat's whiskers off from real life. who cares? the perfect camera would just upload without a computer when you charge it, shouldn't even ask. you get home, and 2 hours later the video is up. how nice would that be? making a 45 minutes amateur video should take 60 minutes including recording. and it does, if you just say no to re-encoding and no to futzing with the footage after you get home. about only having two camera options, that's kind of true, but then surprise surprise: everybody looks the same. look at what miniwheelmedia does in tornonto: they use a regular camera on a mechanical gimbal and not even at a wide angle, just sort of "standard" focal length of maybe 35 mm (gopro is 16 mm). it looks so good! of course for that they need a second rider to shoot the video, it can't be a solo operation, but at least the look they have is entirely unique to them. there has been some teething troubles with jarring camera movement but in the latest video it's already smooth enough and it'll only get better, this takes some skill and forethought. it's often being said that wide angle makes movement look faster, but we're so used to it now that i think the opposite became true as a consequence. standard field of view with parallax - effect where the movement of the foreground is much faster than the movement of the background - gives a great sense of speed. what is being used most often today would have been considered ultrawide even 10 years ago; cameraphone default makes people think this was always the case. don't get me wrong, i don't hate the look of the 360 cameras, and it gives so many more people an opportunity to just shoot and figure out framing later, it's nice, but that accessibility is precisely what makes it the thing that everybody does.

I must do multiple videos covering the brilliant things you’ve broken down in this comment. In response here though, I will say this:
      1. Hero Pro - no post processing and direct play/upload sounds like a dream. That type of simplified work flow can allow for a daily upload without missing a beat and with practically zero effort besides riding. Even if the quality and presentation take a minor hit, that trade off is very tempting and worth considering. I’d love to see what it actually looks like to decide. I will look into this possibility and potentially integrate it if it looks that good as you say. Thank you for that amazing insight.
      2. I checked out mini wheels media and I was shocked by how good their content was. I loved their Patton review video. It was truly inspiring. Entertaining, informative, immersive and the visuals were stupendous. You’re right though… it was not a solo 360 project at all. The collaboration was essential for that type of polish. It’s not impossible to achieve but the quality is certainly reflected in the finished product. Trade off: accessibility vs high end results. I did notice their videos were sparse and infrequent and I’m sure it’s because of the time and effort it requires to sync up with others to shoot, then edit all of that- it’s a massive undertaking. It’s part of the reason I mostly work alone now. Dependability is a rare gemstone and practically impossible to find unless there’s big money involved.
      3. Insta360 cams and the fisheye/parallax issue stuff: I may have found an expected solution. The new big lens version- $800 insta360 one rs 1-inch. It reduces that fish eye effect drastically, mimicking dslr cameras way more, while also preserving that “solo point and shoot” accessibility of the 360 camera world. Still plenty of processing involved but the footage looks great compared to the older models.
I’ll be uploading my first 6K 1-inch lens video soon, edited in Final Cut for the first time to preserve every pixel and frame rate. Curious to know what you will think.
Thank you for the in depth analysis.
I am in your debt for making me think so critically about process and product.
      Stay safe and stay tuned!
It’s about to get crazy out here!

Greetings - I'll through my 2 cents worth into it now: I, personally, like your videos to show, in very good detail, NY City. I have no plans to visit, BUT, I do like to see new places, and the quality, and the presentation are superb! (thats a word not used every day) - In your last few videos, the water front presentation was Great. Keep Up the Good Work and Fun! Cheers!

Don’t we all just want to heroes and be remembered when we’re gone? Haha.

Thanks for the tips bro. You definitely inspire me, your modest and humble personality is encouraging to an introvert like myself. I'm surprised I've never seen you on the road because i ride that same route everyday. I know you said a wireless mic and camera. But, any specific brands or recommendations because your audio is very clear considering you're wearing a full face helmet traveling upwards of 30 mph at times?

      You’re welcome Brave Dave!
I am happy to hear I’ve inspired you and I’m delighted to hear your kind words and high praise of my attitude. The feeling is mutual. Keep on growing and trucking.
For mic, I recommend the movo or boya with furry covers. For camera I recommend the insta360 X3. It takes some tweaking and practice but you can get it going for sure. I put the mic on my helmet chin strap.
Maybe one day we will cross paths.
When will you be out riding? How about a double mic ride and chat?!
      Ride safe friend!

      You should upload, Mr. Soriano!
I’d love to have a look into the window of your world! 😆 Where are you located?
Doesn’t have to be 4K at least not initially.
I think the brightness adjustment makes more of an impact along with the story that goes with the video. Context maybe.
Highlights and lowlights sounds like a great place to start. Please give me a heads up once you upload something so I can check it out!!
Thanks for watching and dropping a comment Mr. Wheeeeleriano! 😆

I totally want to record my rides and put them on youtube. I'm currently running an older (gopro hero7 black) non 360 gopro though. While I practice my EUC skills I'm quietly looking around for the best camera. I'm thinking about taking the jump to the Insta 360 to give that a try. Thank you for sharing.

      Thank you, eBoard3r!
I think a lot of people overlook the mature content issue and accidentally squander talent and effort by incorporating smoking and profanity unwittingly into their content.
I have mixed feelings about this issue.
It’s a bummer because the system kind of uses it as an excuse to exploit you and not pay you. It’s already tough to get paid as it is, but I also like the moral context of setting good examples for our family and youth viewers. So I’m on the fence but advise all to go the safe route overall.
You can definitely go “adult” but it hinders and cripples the channel unnecessarily in my opinion. You end up having to sell merch and tickets to live shows or whatever in order to make up the difference.
Thank you for popping in, Mr. Eeee!

Bro bout to be roadkill that's the most unsafe mobile device i've ever seen. No way in hell would i risk my life riding around NYC of all places. LOL I don't even like driving around NYC in a car due to crazy people cutting you off & running traffic lights.

Haha. Check my other videos on safety.
When riding carefully, EUCs are the safest, most efficient ways to travel. It looks acrobatic and weird but it’s very sensible.
Viewers like you have joined the family and are super happy they decided to take a chance. I urge you to try it!
You’ve just listed all the reasons why we are better off riding an EUC than a car.
      Happy travels wherever you are!
