This is so great. When I was a child, I loved ballet and my "teacher" told me I didn't have the right "body type" for ballet.. AKA I'm brown but the sad part is I quit when she told me I should. But in my 30s now and dance everyday. What a great teacher! Thank you for this video.
Just so you know, she didn't say it was Ballet. If you read it, she said she "quit ballet" but now she "dances everyday"-meaning she's learning Jazz on her own, with this video etc.
Beyond being brown, maybe you had the curves that usually come with being Brown...no need to see racism everywhere. I was told the same thing and I am a very pale stade of white. I just happen to have slopped shoulders and a large bum
Thank you! I am a complete beginner and joined an Adult Jazz class which was full of terms that I've never heard but I fumbled along and promised the teacher I'd catch up with RUclips! You are just what I need! It's hard to find beginner jazz for adults in studios, and even harder to find beginner jazz for seniors - I wish I got into this when MUCH younger as it's a beautiful form of dance- not what I was expecting!
Would you consider doing an absolute absolute beginner video where you do the moves very slowly? I would love to learn jazz dance but with my skill level these videos are too difficult. a breakdown of some moves would be super helpful!
she has some other videos out, most likely titled "beginner jazz class" where she goes through each move slowly as if it were your first time in the studio

At one point in time, crabs couldn't wear weave or colored hair. But, I guess they changed that within the last few years, because Lindsey had blonde her crab year.

Actually these are foundational moves that are incorporated in a lot of styles of dance, hope this helps :)

Isn't that more like ballet than jazz dance? Where are the isolations? the polyzentric movements?
jazz was built off of ballet, these are basic things that you would learn in your first jazz class that you would build off of to make great choreo
