Some electric motors rev really high, like 20k RPMs. Those don't really need a transmission. These motors rev to around 7k rpm, which means that having a transmission is indeed beneficial. You can really scoot around town in 2nd gear but it maxes out around 70mph. In 3rd, 4th, and 5th you can get yourself into all the trouble you might want.
To have fun. I took it out personally for several different video/photo sessions and thoroughly enjoyed it every time. It's okay if you don't like it. You didn't buy it anyway. Take care, friend.
