When I woke up this morning, I decided I wanted to make my way to Delhi. After failing to book both a train and bus, I was left with no other option than to rely on the kindness of Indians and get a free lift to my destination. After creating a sign showing motorists where I wanted to go, I danced and waived for 30 minutes before getting a lift to the next city. From there, I secured a lift all the way to Delhi with an amazing man. It was such an awesome time!

The people like truck drivers are daily wage worker class of Indian society unlike the wealthy truck drives of USA. Seeing a foreigner they will definitely ask money. Hitchhiking concept is not existing here unless and until the people understand what and why are you trying to do without even paying them.
But once they understand surely you will get truck for hitch hiking but you will have to try hard because you are not going to pay.

I think it varies from people to people like there is not much awareness if hitchking in India plus it is not just about money as he said that many people in India are hospitable but different parts of India he met different kinds of people some very kind, some scammers so it depends on the region too like in South India u will melt mostly friendly people similarly in North west India like rajasthan and Gujarat I n from rajasthan and most people in rajasthan are very friendly towards foreigners

You would have got a lift by a truck if you had written the cardboard in Hindi with the help of locals or Google, because majority of the truck drivers can't read English letters properly.
