- The Honda Rebel is a historic line of bikes. The quintessential beginner's bike. The new line of Honda Rebels live up to that and more.
Introducing the "Selfie Cam"!!! That's right...a whole new world, a new fantastic point of view. This video is for all my homies in the Honda Rebel forums. Anywho, these are the top 5 things I love about my motorcycle...with the dislikes video coming in a few days. Thanks for watching!
As with all of my videos, I created the music featured in this video. I ain't playing with copy-written or fair-use material.

I bet the gearing sucks balls!
Short gearing is horrible. For seasoned riders, that means you'll be in 5th (final gear) at 20-30mph.
Needs a final gear that's at least 50% taller.
Tell me how I know you've never ridden the Rebel 300 without telling me you've never ridden the Rebel 300. Bahahahaha!
@@MotoNoir from what I hear, it seems suck! I've been on many bikes, and it seems like all bikes nowadays get short gearing. They're not even sports bikes!
@@ProDigit80 again, tell us how you never rode a rebel 300 without telling us youve never ridden a rebel 300
This bike is the best value in Motorcycle in bar none! It is immensely more value packed then something like the Honda Grom in the durability and comfort will blow that away. You also have the added advantage that you can literally get this on the highway and ride with traffic at 70 miles an hour, with 70MPG to boot. You can’t go wrong with the new Rebel.
I agree, it's a well-put-together machine. And as far as value for your money, it's very hard to beat the Rebel. Around town, it slays. On the highway, it will keep up and get you where you wanna go.
Cool bike
I’ve had 26 motorcycles I still have a 1969 BSA starFire 300 also a thumper I’m 77 years old and still ride I have a Harley sportster a Honda rebel I think it’s one of the finest motorcycle Ever made reliable amazing mileage and you can still ride it on the highway Gearing is perfect and the road is very comfortable for a midsize bike
I couldn't agree more! Thanks man!
I really like what I see and hear about the Rebel 300. What is The Longest Ride? You have gone on so far? How do you feel about it on longer rides? Thank you and happy trails.
My dream bike.. Simple and manly aggressive machine. 😱😱
just got mine 3 days ago
Top speed?
@@DanielMartinez-sy1nh mine goes up to 93 to 95
@@DanielMartinez-sy1nh parts are also cheaper then other bikes
same here man, saving to get one april next year when i turn 16
Honda did a great job with the redesign -- looks much more modern versus the old Rebel design but it doesn't lose too much of that Rebel feel. You're lucky with your exposed motor, no worries about losing a bolt for your fairing when you change your oil! 😆 Very cool view with the second selfie camera too!!
I agree, the update was long needed for the Rebels. My "dislikes" video is going up in a few minutes...gotta do the counter argument video, lol.
You forgot to mention the fantastic MPG! ;)
You're right!
Nice job. I'm hopeful of returning to riding soon, perhaps by winter '17. The 300 would fill the bill.
The Rebel is a great way to get back into riding!
I'm getting a brand new 2023 black out version this week. I can't wait! I will be buzzing around my small town a lot and cruising the back roads in the country. In the summer months I will be traveling US highways and state for 75 miles to get into the mountains for a lot of camping and fishing. I am 5 foot 7 1/2 inches tall. 120 lbs. and 69 yrs. old. Some things I already like about it is the great gas mileage, the price by comparison and it just looks so damn sexy. Do you think I made the right choice, or should I go for the 500?
You really can't go wrong with the Rebels. Although, with your experience - I'd probably recommend the 500.
I love Honda Rebel 300 it is very nice bike I am also planning to buy this Rebel beast
If you want a beast go for a honda rebel 500
01:15 You sold me at "beans".
She's got some beans!!
How’s it going dude. New to motorcycles, my dad grew up with them and had multiple motorcycles before ever buying a car and he’s looking at getting back into them, so I want to get into it and be able to cruise around with him. The classic look of this bike really stands out to me, I love the blacked out look and everything visually about it. My only concern is that I am 6”3’ (185 lbs) and I’ve seen a lot of advertisement as to how low the seat is and what not. Would you recommend this bike to a taller guy, or suggest looking elsewhere?
I'm 6'3" as well!!! So yeah, it's more than able to carry our tall asses around. The only thing it lacks is top-end power (just FYI). So if you're planning highway excursions, be aware that you'll be wringing it's neck a little to keep you going 75-80mph. Sit on the bike first, see if you like the ergonomics. I like it...but a friend of mine said he felt cramped on it, and he's 6'2"...so it's kinda a "to each their own" scenario.
Moto Noir thanks for the reply! I was able to sit on one in a shop the other day and sitting still it wasn’t bad at all. But I could see how it might get uncomfortable on a lengthy trip. The highway issue occurred to me, but I like about 25 minutes south of Minneapolis and don’t go to the city much, would just be cruising around town stuff like that. Also looking at a Kawasaki Vulcan and a Yamaha Bolt as a higher power option, but maaaan the Rebel is nice looking. We’ll see how it goes
😎 I am in the process of buying a 2018 Honda rebel 300 in blue totally can’t wait
Contrats!
How fast is it
I have bought my bike since the last time I wrote here and honestly I don’t know yet but when it warms up I’ll definitely find out when I can get out of town
There’s a lot of other things I have to take into account to I’ve added a lot of things to her since I got her i’ve changed out the bars for mini apes I have also added highway bars saddlebags a fender ornament and changed out the tail light so it’s no longer the square factory taillight anymore it actually matches my headlights I’m going to change out the turn signals so they match as well next
It is a nice looking bike, without a doubt. I almost bought one some years back, it was just
too small for my body type. They were nice looking back then too, in my opinion.
Heck yeah, man. Hell, if Lemme from revzilla learned to ride on one of the classic Rebels, you know it's a cool bike!
Thank you for your review, especially you mentioned the ergonomics on this bike (interesting enough alot of the reviews done on the new Rebel complained about the sitting position I guess it would be the case for tall people). I just left a holding deposit for a Rebel 500 last weekend and I can not wait to get the bike and go for a ride in the national park here in Sydney. Once again thank you for the good effort!
It's a very comfortable seating position, but not all people will like it. It's a low seat height, but the bike is big enough that taller guys don't look silly sitting on it, nor is it uncomfortable. Many of the reviews are subjective, once you get your 500 and ride it...bro, you're gonna love it. They are great bikes.
Moto Noir... I'm thinking about getting back in to riding. I have been watching your video's on the Honda Rebel 300. The last time i even touched a bike of any kind was back in 84. Yep I'm old. Anyway i have been looking at the 300. Now is a 300 good to take on the interstate? I seen one video you said your interstate is only 45.
Sometimes i have to go to Leavenworth to go to the VA. It's about 45 to 50 miles away. Speed limit on the interstate is 65 thru St. Joseph and 70 on out. So should i start on a 300 or should i jump to the 500 Rebel ?. I plan to get my learner's permit and take a riders course at my local tech school. They offer a 2 day both 8 hr course on the weekend and i think we take our writen and drivers test on sunday then we bring the paper to our dmv. So what do you think 300 or 500?
Thank You For Your Time...
I wholeheartedly believe you should buy the 500. The 300 can do quick jaunts on the interstate, but you'll find that the 500's engine is just better suited for it. Don't let the 500's engine size fool you, it's made for beginners and for people like yourself that are getting back into motorcycling. It just has that little extra horsepower that makes riding the highways and interstates easier...because you won't be pinning the throttle the entire time, ya know?
Moto Noir Thank You for your response. I'll look at the 500cc then. Oh i love your channel. Lot a good info about riding and things.
500 for sure i got it
In this environment, (city riding) I'd say that 3rd gear (4th maybe) would be your best gear to be in...( I could be wrong...)
thanks bro for the review,I was just thinking about how its going to be riding in nyc. Would it be better to ride a motorcycle or scooter around manhattan?
I'm a former Vespa owner...those things are fun. Motorcycle all the way though, you'll be envious when you see a motorcyclist. I know I was...
If you go with a scooter, just know they are typically automatic so you wont get that practice/experience required if you want to hop on a motorcycle in the future.
Hey Moto Noir, I live in brooklyn and was curious where I can get one used possibly. I noticed in the video you were riding around bk. Did you get yours new or used?
I got it new...but if I were buying used, I'd go to Brooklyn Mayd. Great shop
Thank you!
Loved it Bor♥️♥️
Right back at ya!
Esteticaly I prefers the Yamaha SR 400 but the Honda in nearly $2,000 less making it a much better value I hope to pick one up in the not to distant future.
I HEAVILY considered the SR 400. I love the look of that bike. I just wish they'd update the components of the damn thing. I mean, a drum rear brake on a new bike in 2018 shouldn't happen. And, you pay a premium for dated tech...seems off. Everything else about the SR 400 just oozes old-school cool motorcycle.
My rebel 300 is my first bike. Do not all bikes have engine braking like the 300? One would think that a higher displacement would improve engine braking. I dont know because i have no other bike to compare my rebel to.
Engine braking is not really determined by your bike's displacement, but rather the engine type and its tuning. For instance: two-stroke engines have less engine braking than four-strokes, due to increased compression/ decompression, internal pressure, and friction in four-stroke engines.
_Almost_ all modern four-stroke motorcycles have engine braking, however some bikes have more than others...and some are engineered to accentuate a "freewheel" experience, which means the bike feels more like a bicycle (or when you hold in the clutch) when you roll off the throttle and gives a freewheel / coasting sensation. Some high-end bikes allow you to either increase or decrease engine braking power via editable rider modes.
Another example: The 1200+ cc displacement Indian FTR has much less engine braking than my 680+ cc Yamaha XSR700. I'm not sure why that is, I'm not smart enough to explain it. I think it has to do with slipper clutches...but that's a whole-nuther conversation. It could also be a characteristic of the XSR700's super torquey engine, versus the Indian's V-Twin design. I dunno.
Anyway - the long and short answer is - No. Larger engine displacement doesn't necessarily contribute to increased engine braking.
@@MotoNoir what an excellent answer! I learned a thing or two! Thanks for taking the time to write all that!
I don't currently have the 300 but soon as they get one in stock around my area my plan is to get the 300. I started on the 250 rebel for a little over a year and now currently riding a 07 Vulcan 500 but really not riding on interstates as much as I thought I would because they aren't enjoyable. My favorite roads are 45-55 MPH is honestly the roads I prefer.
Ain't nothing wrong with a Vulcan 500...why the switch?
@@MotoNoir I have nothing against my 07 Vulcan 500. Other than they are 100 percent no after market support for these bikes. I want something that you can customize and change up. The pipes on the Vulcan are double walled and after 20k miles the welds all break and rattle and that is so annoying so I just decided to trade it in. Awesome power and everything is stock, I just want to do something different.
Btw I will go sit on a 300 today. Ask the dealer about when I can demo it
Sat on a flat grey one today. Will demo-ride it next spring. I had several motorcycles in my life but now all I need is 90% scooter and 10% highway motorcycle. I live where less than 400cc bikes cost way less in plates and insurances. I also live on an urban island surrounded by beautyful country roads on the other side of the bridges.
Nice! The Rebel would be great for where you live.
Sounds ok here,no need for hundreds of dollars for a sports systrm?
Great lookin lil machine
It's not too bad, right? Yo, when's the next trip to Canada?
Thank you.
You're welcome!
Looks totally perfect for NY
Agree. It's a great motorcycle for urban commuting.
Motorcycle engines and clutches are not meant to be used as brakes. That's why you have to get the revs up when you downshift. That is especially true with a small displacement engine.
It's a pretty common tactic, it's actually taught in advanced motorcycle safety courses. Like all things, it's a skill that needs to be practiced and done properly.
Moto Noir
Is it harmful for engine?
Makes no sense you're comment
Torque: the word you're looking for.
Yes. You're the man...appreciated!
Did you get the freeway at the break in time?
Freeways are always free...whether I'm on break or not.
Same mine and i love it even the color
Great minds think alike...or so I've heard.
Did you add that passenger seat? Or can you buy it with one? Thanks
The North American version does not come with the passenger seat and footpegs. You have to order the kit for it, which I did at the time of purchase. Kinda lame...
@@MotoNoir Nope.
I heard Rebel 300 has handle vibrations...as I watched previous video who owns Honda rebel 500.
Yep...I'll discuss it in part 2.
Love this bike. How is it on hwy driving? Im 5'4", so short, and about 160lbs. Would lke if it goes about 120kms/hr and I don't mean downhill. :-) Anyone have an opinion?
good review.
Thanks!
What's that paper on your gas tank say?
Just talking points.
Hi there. Great info.
Hey! Thank you...I'm trying my best lolz....
Would you recommend this as a daily driver ?
Truly, it depends on what you're doing. It's a 286cc motorcycle...so there are limits. Check out all of my videos.
First time rider 6.2 250 pounds am I too fat for this thing?
Easy answer is no, you're not. But why not just get the 500?
Can you put a passenger seat and footpegs on the Rebel 300?
Yes! They sell the official seat and footpeg kit. The footpegs come disassembled and are a b**** to put together. Just warning you.
My cb300f is 286 cc as well, wonder why they do that
The Rebel shares the same engine as the CB300f. I'm sure Honda can pump more power out of their single cylinder engine, but it may cause longevity issues and Honda focuses heavily on making reliable machines. It's a spunky little engine though, lots of fun to rev the hell out of.
Yes loving banging through the gears
Man oh man I'm between the Honda rebel 300 and the Yamaha yzfR3 it comes down to a sporty look or chopper look style 😭 any of you guys have an input?
Two solid choices...what kind of riding are you planning on doing. The R3 is a popular beginner track bike, from what I've read.
@@MotoNoir I've always wanted a motorcycle so I'm just getting into them but I'm feeling towards a commuter bike/cruising around. Not sure if those are my best options considering that's what I'm feeling right now. Any suggestions?
Would u recommend this or cb300r
OOOOOooooo...I LOVE the look of the cb300r. It's a toss up. Same engine, tuned a little differently. Honestly, if I had the choice again...I go with the 300r. Mainly because it's a taller bike and I think I'd be less cramped on it. But, if you're shorter, go with the Rebel.
I'm 5.8 so I don't think height would be an issue , also is this bike ok for highways I mean ik it hold up around 75 mph which isn't really that much for a motorcycle
I would choose this over a scooter. I’m thinking about getting a 300 and make it look like a bobber lmfao. Better than a honda ruckus
Making it a bobber is pretty easy...just pop off the bumper. You'll need to get some aftermarket lighting, but it looks pretty cool.
so I got my license and I'm looking for my first bike and idk what to choose rebel 300 or yamaha v-star 250
My suggestion is get the bike that makes you want to ride. Get the bike that inspires you and makes you jump out of bed to go for a ride. Can't go wrong with either one. I love my Rebel. I think the Rebel looks a little better than the V-Star...but that's just my opinion. I don't thumb my nose at bikes, ya know. Motorcycles are badass...ride safe!
Yes honda looks better sure but if you don't mind i want to show you something and after you click that link start watching from 2:00 and you gonna see or hear what kind of sound I love and I cannot achieve that on honda rebel with any custom exhaust so here is the link

How tall are you?
I'm 6ft, 3inches tall.

I
My Love , very very Nice rebel 300 ! wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I loved that bike too!
Your mic is BOOSTING lol
Got a new one!
What tha mailage of this?
I usually get about 55-65 mpg. Depends on how aggressive I ride and traffic conditions.
They need to make bikes with like an extra 5+ miles per hour so you dont worry about highways
You know, this bike is meant to be a great beginner bike and it is that, and more. So I generally forgive it for not being the best bike on the highway.
Beans
Green Beans.
Almost got one of these. Glad I didn’t lol
Why
What did you get?
chilled sama dio Just felt like I would outgrow the bike quickly. Maybe in metro areas this would be perfect through traffic and what not. But if you’re going to be traveling at highway speeds and want something that can get away from other cars this wouldn’t be ideal. Don’t want to knock the bike too hard I’m sure it’ll run forever and It’s a good looking machine.
Moto Noir ended up with a street twin.
Very nice!!!
This guys never ridden a motorcycle before hah their all like that bud. Nice vid though
I've ridden quite a few...there goes that theory. But hey, you tried.
...
That's not really what I said...but hey, thanks for watching.
@@MotoNoir , sorry I realized my comment sounded pretty rude. It's a good video.
No worries, my friend.
