Great video as usual! RE: the dark arts of stacking straw - once you get the second layer on, you'll be able to push up the first layer, and then once the third is on, you'll be able to push up the second as you add to the stack. Straw stacking done!
Thanks Rauri. Honestly, the expense of putting isn’t slatted floor just isn’t worth it given the amount of time they actually spend inside. Especially when it would mean building a completely new set of buildings. It would be cheaper to take on more land to allow you to out winter.
Its amazing the quality of videos you put out to only have 10,000 subs definitely a hidden gem. Im starting to do some electric fence rotational grazing after getting inspired by your videos. 👍
Thanks so much. I actually really enjoy making the videos so it nice to know they are appreciated 😊 I hope the rotational grazing goes well for you. If you ever have questions, feel free to ask. It’s life changing when you get into it. 👍
with the increase in cattle would you look at buying a square baler in order to make straw clearance more efficient? I'm sure the 20 series would hack a quadrant baler.
Probably not tbh. The cost of running buying one wouldn’t be worth it I don’t think especially when the contractor only charges £5 a bale. We want to reduce tractor size too so don’t want to buy anything that would need a higher powered 6 cylinder tractor to run. Usually everything is close to home too so rounds arent an issue. just a one off this year having too travel.
Great video as usual!

Thank you. ☺️ started getting on better when a bought another load and pushed at the stack a bit. Doesn’t look as much off a mess now thankfully. 😂
Hi James Nice one Thanks again
Thanks Darran!
Get a Frisbee for your strap winder... lines your straps up nicely
I’ll take a look and see what I can put together!
Great video James!
Thanks Kai! 👍
You should put a frisbee on it and it would roll it up even better he he Kev.
Good shout, I’ll look at it.
Great video. That’s a lot of straw . Did you ever think of putting in slatted tanks .

Very well-made videos Baldy, always look forward to them. 👌
Thanks David, I appreciate that the effort isn’t wasted. 👍
Nottingham i known for munitions and it has a look out on top.
Nice to see you both flat out James, I use to love harvest time, long hours but very rewarding ❤
Thanks Stephen. It’s never ending here at the minute but it’s all good fun so can’t complain. 👍
Very good strapping.
Love your Tiny Wine-dy tool.😊
And dog loves a cab day.😊
The dog loves anything where she can sleep all day 😂
@baldysfarm I have a Labrador that was 12 on Friday, she can sleep anywhere about the same as my 91 year old Dad.
Great video, the field you got the straw from is massive. ❤
Thanks Sara, it’s huge but not their biggest. They have one that’s over 200 acres 🤯

Are you feeding cattle with straw? how to increase the nutritional quality of straw?
