hey help me. i have no idea why but adb isn't working and neither is fastboot showing any devices. i am running arch linux, and its a bloody moto g5plus.

Worked perfectly! In my case the phone did not display in Windows explorer while TWRP was active, so I had to install the Magisk file to a microSD and use that.

So you mean you copied Magisk Zip file to Micro SD Card first then in TWRP recovery checked micro sd card from Mount, right?
@@umakantmore1293 you can copy it to internal storage as well. he used sdcard as the phone was not showing up in file explorer on his computer.

Hi! I cant seem to unlock my oem. But when I enter: fastboot oem unlock (followed by unlock key sent by Motorola, the first time it says this program will erase all data and to confirm, re-enter the command. When I enter: fastboot oem unlock key code again, I always get the Code Validation Failure with Status 7 message. Upon reboot, it's as if it was restored to factory settings and oem still shows locked.
Maybe you have wrong code.. I would contact Moto customer care

Using the latest twrp-3.3.1-0-potter.img I get:

Do I have to wait for an updated TWRP or did I pick the wrong image file?

looks like your bootloader is locked.
you need to unlock bootloader.
munchy, I thought that the phone was unlocked because it has already been on 3 different carriers. But I took your advice and had motorola send me the unlock code. Working now, Thank you.

@@munchy_cool Wow, I hate to be a PITA but Magisk wouldn't install due to not enough space on partition. I can't work on this problem until tonight but first issue is Reboot System takes me back into TWRP. How can I get my phone back to android?
you did something wrong ..flash factory firmware and start again
Just by flashing magisk I don't think the device gets rooted plz correct me if am wrong.

@@munchy_cool magisk can be installed on any device without root .. only problem is it won't run and in this video you have just installed magisk there is no proof shown whether it's working or the phone is rooted.. if tht was the case then you have installed some root app and shown us the device is rooted.

@@munchy_cool this video has nothing to do with root..it's only helpful for unlocking the bootloader.. u should remove the root term because it's really misleading.. just making a video from collecting data from other techies is not sufficient..one should make a video full proof wherea this video doesn't clarify anything about root..

Hey muchy... I have never used command prompt before, so i don't exactly know how to execute the commands (like opening new window for command? Deleting old command before new command, stuff like this)
Can you please explain this briefly.. or share any video tutorial...or atleast give any idea of what keyword to search on RUclips for this info...

go to platform tools folder. press down shift key and keep it pressed. right click and select open command prompt here in the popup window which opens.

The ADB folder isn't showing the same as you :( I keep getting powershell window with message "platform-tools>" instead of yours. Please help!

no solution from me ..has be a twrp issue ..
Okay...I tried to root my g5 plus (running Oreo) followed everything correctly... TWRP flashed.... Magisk flashed... After booting successfully, there is no magisk icon in app drawer... Also the recovery is still stock recovery not twrp
Then twrp was not flashed ..repeat process again
Also try installing Magisk manager apk manually and see if you have root
I checked root access
It's not rooted
If TWRP was not flashed, so how was I able to flash magisk file...

ok, so i got magisk onto it but it failed to install, at the start of the logs in twrp it says

at the bottom it says

@@munchy_cool also i noticed when i flashed twrb using adb it said something about invalid or corrupt but it still launched
dont know whats going on ..also twrp is flashed using fastboot ..if its giving invalid or corrupt something else might be wrong ..make sure you are using official TWRP

Now i got in an OTA security update, but this won't install anymore ... Is there a possibility to install official security updates or is that not possible anymore?I'm still quite confused about all this stuff ... I still don't really understand what exactly is TWRP and what does it do, or what is Magisk and what does it do ...

you cannot instal OTA once you are rooted..
Does that mean no future updates at all anymore after rooting?
you will have to learn how to sideload OTAs
Well, this is just a jungle for me ... I found the following about OTA updates:forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=282447&s=780d2323f1c7caf2cfbf9ed697bcfe5d&p=5269176&viewfull=1#post5269176and if i understand it right, there should sooner or later come out an updated TWRP image based on the OTA update, so i guess i will just wait until that is out and then use your mehtod again for flashing the new TWRP. Does that make sense? Thanks!
no, TWRP is just recovery ..if you want Moto updates go back to stock.
or learn how to sideload OTA

Hello sir I have a problem. I unlocked the bootloader and flashed twrp recovery from there. From twrp I rebooted to system and a half a hour later I gone back to recovery mode it's shows an error saying NO COMMAND ERROR instead of showing TWRP...
What I done wrong. I followed same steps as shown by you. Please reply and help.
Your twrp recovery must have got overwritten by stock recovery.. Try flashing magisk after flashing twrp

move pictures/videos etc to sd card
messages can be backed up with third party apps

i dont think your bootloader is unlocked. if it is, try another usb cable, another usb port or another computer.

no this method does not tell you how to unlock the bootloader. Check video description for link to Motorola's website where you can unlock the bootloader.

i dont support/recommend Lazy Flasher as it's used for piracy.
