- This is my tutorial showing how to relock the moto g5 and moto g5 plus bootloader

2. Download moto G5 stock novemeber patch firmware

confirmed above firmware works on the folowing model numbers
G5(XT1672), XT1675 , X1676, xt167
HERE is the november patch firmware for moto G5 Plus
IM NOT SURE WHICH MODELS IT WORKS ON BECAUSE I DONT HAVE A G5 PLUS SORRY!!

A big thank you Android Doctor for the clear and easy to follow information. The shop I took it back to...as it had a 24 month warranty, couldn't do anything with it even though they sent it off, as they thought I may had tried to re root it or some malware had. Although I think it might have tried to update and the battery died as it was updating? So I followed your guidance, although it didn't work 1st time...as I think my computer needed some up dating and to be restarted, then the phone didn't start automatically after code had gone through, but I just selected start and it is all working fine and has all the apps and contacts I had on if before hand :-) It has saved my mum buying me a new phone lol. Namaste

Thanks Android Doctor. Just an FYI that this method does not work on the XT1671 (Latin America model). Luckily, it did not corrupt the currently installed Lineage OS 18.1. I am using the factory ROM from the link in your tutorial.

I'm from Brazil, I did this same process using the rom with patch of August and November ms only worked once and it was with August, I unlocked again and now it's not blocking!

I got a phone from a lifeline service and it came missing tons of Motorola features including Moto actions and wont update to Android 10 or get security updates because it says "integrity of the system has been compromised contact carrier to flash official software" it isn't rooted. But the bootloader is unlocked. If I relock the bootloader will it update and get back missing features? It's a Moto g7 play. Thank you.

Tentei de tudo, mas sempre dá INVALID BOOT STATE, dei um fastboot getvar all e percebi que alguns sumiram como MEID, ICCID, BATTID tentei o fastboot lock nem o Flashing lock,funciona, tive que achar uma imagem patcheada para não mostrar o bootloader desbloqueado, detalhe que usei todas as ferramentas como a ferramenta de Reparo da Motorola e nada de resolver isso.

Hi Doctor thank you very much it worked like a charm, downgraded to Android 7 from Custom rom Pixel experience and then after being on Nougat stock rom, November patch i followed your instruction to re-lock the bootloader. Success!
I only have one doubt now: After re-locking bootloader i received a system update, ran it and ended up with security patch 1 March 2018 Build number NPPS25.137-93-8. So far so good, but then i receive a new system update, presumably to update for April/May 2018. I download it an run the install but right in the beginning it gave me an error. I restarted the phone and got notified that because of that error no changes were made to the system.
Do you have any clue why this is hapening?Is thwere any other way to install the future security patches successfully?

hi, thanks for the tutorial. I have tried this on my g5 and bootloader wont lock. When I flash the boot image it says ¨image signed with bad key¨ no matter how many tutorials or stock rom versions that I have tried. What else can I do?
i remember this even tho it was years ago it was real tricky to relock u have to use the correct firmware however u said u tried them all another thing u got to be really carefull them motorola phones are so easily brickable

sir i flashed stock rom successfully but unable to lock bootloader im getting an error -->(bootloader) Check 'Allow OEM Unlock' in Android Settings > Developer.....they are saying to allow oem unlocking but oem is already unlocked sir plz help me

It didn´t work on XT1671. I used the XT1671 firmware, and the bootloader kepps unlocked.

look for cmd here file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder and it should be there. just click on it and it will take u to the cmd not the windows powershell.
no it doesn't worked for me, still grayed out in developer option and can't use BHIM app (even after fresh stock ROM install)

Hi! I've done all the steps on a Moto G5, in addition to other similar tutorials, and I always get the same bug, which I happen to explain:
1).- Install the original Firmware and at the time of reboot, the Motorola logo comes out but at 5 seconds the Android robot is displayed with a red triangle that says 'No Command' (doesn't load the Motorola logo).
2).- I enter Fastboot mode and put it in the FACTORY MODE option, which does allow me to load and enter normal to the Android desktop.
3).- If I restart or turn off the cell phone and when I turn it back on, the Android robot comes out with a red triangle that says 'No Command' (doesn't load Motorola logo).
I've already installed about 5 times the firmware, in fact 3 of them with roms from different operators (stock Oreo 8.1.0) and I don't know what can be caused by this failure. I would be honored if you can give me some kind of solution about it, please, given that I'm urged to know because I'm traveling right now and it's my only way of communicating with my family. Thanks a lot.
If yours is the G5+, then try using some of the commands in my post above yours. Just doublecheck to see which files are in your official firmware folder and delete the commands for files that don't exist. Also make sure you install the latest moto drivers for your computer's operating system. Good luck.

Actually I forget mi moto g7 phone password. So, my friend told doing factory reset you can open it again. But when I do factory it has not completed & device was locked.
Onscreen show connect usb cable to recovery fastboot.
I also forgot my email id which was login on my phone.
I goes many mobile shope to unlock the phone but no one can't do this.

It's the firmware for some reason it only allows relock on certain towards Motorola. Phones are so difficult bro

Enable usb debugging by tapping build number 6-7 times then look for developer options in the settings & go in dev optoons to turn usb debugging on

power off your Moto G5
hold volume down button and hold power button till screen comes on
let go
connect the other end of the usb cable to the Moto G5
open up device manager
look for fastboot Cedric S
right click on it and click update driver
click browse my computer for driver software
click let me pick a list of available drivers on my computer
click android device
click next
click Android Bootloader interface
click next
click yes
click close
open up command prompt
continue as the doctor instrucs hope it helps

I have the same problem, first i had installed a rom 8.1, and when i back to stock rom, i lost IMEI, i tried install again rom but the imei has been lost... but when i install again the stock rom, the IMEI is back! (IMEI = 0 but works) , well for 4 days and after it did not work again, for two days i tried install and unistall different roms and nothing works for me, do you have any solution for this? i have a Moto G5 XT1670.
Lemmon the solution is on my channel i made a video last week showing how to get back the missing imei but u will have to stay on android 8.1 rom or u will loose it again

Used Moto G5 Cedric and it failed, said (bootloader) Preflash validation failed
but thankfully nothing bad happened, I still have the warning though

It didn't work with the ROMs linked by @AndroidDoctor, but it succeeded with yours. I lost the mobile network though.
