    I love the Underdark because these people all deserve each other.

    This makes me want to finish my D&D /Rifts crossover campaign. The Underdark and Faerun will be where most of it takes place. The basic story is a Sunaj Atlantean finds the Underdark while exploring a rift and begins to infiltrate Drow society and finding a way to either work out a trade or take over. The Coalition finds out with a spy and they invade. It’s going to be fun!!!

    "Deep beneath the world, where even the drow fear to tread, there are caverns not carved by mortal hands but by the writhing minds of the unspeakable. The Aboleths lurk there, ancient beyond reckoning, their thoughts as vast as the Underdark itself. They do not rule with swords or spells, but with whispers that twist the will and drown the soul. To them, we are not foes. We are memories waiting to be rewritten."

    Amazing narration! Very immersive. I wish this were a small series.

    This is such a great channel for DnD lore, well done once again 😄
    p.s. Update on the Orc Barbarian who had an Aboleth patron (posted about in another video) = yeah. So. After being Raged into insanity, old mate Zogdush decided, having slightly embarrassing himself goring a whole bunch of unwitting lizard folks with a pike (sent a bit loopy by way of being sent back to His Master via enchanted mirror - trauma and Lovecraft ensues), to do what? Jump back into the mirror at the mere promise of being reunited with Fish Master at the bottom of a lake in Moonsea.
    Aboleth Simping = Not Even Once (™️)

    Between aboleth, illithids, and phaerimm, how is there any free will left in the underdark?

    • @redfaux74

      Only the powerful folks like Elminster, the Seven Sisters and groups like the Harpers can keep powerful evil like this from settling into civilization and taking over. Good must be proactive. Not reactive. Playing the Collateral Game in DnD can destroy entire planes.
      Light must push back the dark. And it must be diligent and bright. Swords must be kept sharpened and shields must be repaired faithfully. Hope must be passed on to our next generation.

      If you learn the lore, you will realize …There isn’t

    • @redfaux74
      @redfaux74 6 дней назад

      @scotmcpherson - That doesn't even make sense.
      Drizzt had free will. The Svirfneblin have free will. The Duergar have free will. Everything down there has free will to some degree. Even Illythid can rebel and become Mages. That is free will. If an Aboleth chooses which day to attack or not to attack, that is free will. Having an alliance is free will. Choosing an enemy is free will. Going left or right, up or down in a cave labyrinth is free will.

    • @cl10367
      @cl10367 6 дней назад

      @ Perhaps he is talking about a calvinist determinism where every action is the result of prior actions. All of our actions are the inevitable tumbling of dominoes, with only the illusion of freewill.

    • @redfaux74
      @redfaux74 6 дней назад

      @cl10367 - That's not true at all tho. Calvinism may SAY that but it's no where in the Word of God.
      Deut 28 clearly tells Israel, the children of God, "choose".... the good or evil, blessing or cursing. If they could not choose, God would not have told them to choose. Levit 26 is a direct reflection of the same story, choose between honoring My Word or rebelling against My Word. There are no dominoes.
      Every moment, every person has a choice what they do. Many, many choices. No one has strings. If they did have strings, that would make Satan the good guy. God would be guilty of every sin if no one could resist Him. I've never read anything in the Bible supporting Calvinism. Ever. And I've read it cover to cover every year thru. I have since 2001. I'm a KJV Bible reader. I have at least 30 of the other newer versions but I think they're incredibly inferior.
      To go back to the Underdark example, light shines brightest in darkness. Without choice, you don't even know if there is light or dark. Love or loyalty. Love can only exist if people can reject you OR accept you. Otherwise, you are a computer, a robot. And that's not love.

    Wish Aboleths could grew legs or got out of the water most Dms don't do water campaigns.

    • @redfaux74
      @redfaux74 7 дней назад

      Most DMs should never attempt them. They're not random encounters.
      An adventure with Aboleth has to be built. Over a succession of games, a campaign. They are not Ogres or Chimerae. They are the ultimate Big Bad Guys greatest enemy. When Drow fear them..... that should say something powerful. Anything that makes a team of high level Drow paranoid and uncomfortable in their own natural surroundings is a threat to the very world itself.

      @redfaux74 yeah that's why I wish they could leave the water most dms don't do well in a 3d campaign with water also it limits what players can do.

    This was really, really good. ❤ I don't subscribe to much. I guess I'm jumping in. Today.
    Do you own the Drow Handbook from the early 1990s? If not, and you get the chance..... you need to get it. There is a ton in there that is not in the "new" material. I'm not a fan of 5E to say it politely. I'm disgusted by those in charge, putting out the new material.

      Beautiful, and happy to have you.
      I’ll take a look at the handbook, a lot of the older material is what I use just as much as the new. It is written with such passion.

    • @redfaux74
      @redfaux74 7 дней назад

      @Lorebrary_EG - Drow had longer fingers than Elves, much more dexterous. And they took advantage of it in many ways. The fact that they use sign language in the Underdark is pretty awesome. They don't need to make noise to communicate. It makes them very stealthy. They can read brail with their sensitive fingers to mark trails in the Underdark. It is normally unseen by others.
      Their night vision was much better. The range of infravision was 120 feet as opposed to 60 feet of other Elven races. With that, they could use small heated metal plates to give signals over greater distances, like SOS signals, Morse code.
      There are many things in that old valuable Tome many readers overlooked.
